So I'm always reluctant to go to a place that someone I know says is great. Not just because of if I hate it - I have to say it was good bla bla bla. Well this place is absolutely not one of those. On arrival we were treated with smiles and lead to our table that my in-laws and nephew were already seated. We were tardy - they already ordered this died colley flower app that looked nuclear red and wow what a start. That was followed up with lamb biryani and curry and... every moth watering byte was perfectly executed. And yah the buttered nan bread was amazing. The place is a little too bright but the food speeds volumes and de definitely will be back monthly. My thanks to our knowledgeable and congenial server that made great recommendations and made for a delightful dining experience. It doesn't get any better in Honolulu. FYI- byob and I'm elated by that.

I've tried a few Indian spots on Oahu, and Spice Up in Makiki is easily my favorite. Way better than Himalayan Kitchen--flavor-wise and service-wise. The food is just on another level, and the staff is super attentive, which makes the whole experience even better.I had the lamb curry, naan, and tikka chicken masala, and everything was delicious. The lamb curry was rich and perfectly spiced, the naan was soft and fresh, and the tikka masala had that perfect balance of creamy and flavorful. If you're craving good Indian food, this is the place. Can't wait to go back!

My fiancé found this place when we were planning our trip out to Honolulu. After reading the reviews, we decided to get there early to make sure we could get a table. We got there around 5:15 this past Saturday and there were still a few tables open, but not long after every table was filled up so definitely be sure to get there early if you don't want to wait. Now for the food.... It was amazing! I've gotten more into eating Indian food over the years. There are still many dishes I have yet to try, but I am at least familiar with a good tasting dish vs an okay one. The food we ordered from here was absolutely delicious. The kind of delicious where all I could do was shake my head at how great each bite tasted. I ate as much as I possible could because I couldn't stop eating. We ordered the chicken momo 5 piece, garlic naan bread, rice, the Rogan Josh and the chicken tikka masala. My fiancé was also very impressed by the quality of the food and lamented that this restaurant doesn't have another location near us back at home. I'm not sure when we'll be back, but this place will definitely be on our list to visit again. I'm still thinking about the delicious food we ate from that night.

This gets five stars from me, because it's flavorful without being too spicy. I chose "mild plus" and the spice level was absolutely perfect. The food was very appealing, served at the right temperature, and absolutely delicious. There are also lots of vegetarian and vegan options.Considering the fact that we had two young children with us, the servers were also very patient and accommodating. The tables are spaced nicely, with a variety of configurations. Parking is a shared lot in the back, so my recommendation is to arrive early or look for street parking if it's after 18:30.

This is my favorite Indian food. The food is not overly spicy but is all very flavorful. The quality is very good. Small parking lot in the back or street parking is available.

It's hard to find a good Indian food on the island but Spice Up is the only one we found so far to be consistently good for our cravings! Our favorite thing to order here is the Lamb Rogan Josh and garlic naan. We liked the other dishes we ordered as well! So far we had only one miss which was the Tandoori Chicken. Not sure if it was an off day but the Tandoori chicken was really dry, so I'd skip it next time. They don't serve alcohol, so it's byob. I suggest coming here on the early side for dinner otherwise they start to get a line after 6pm

This is one of only a few good indian restaurants in Honolulu. Spice up makes traditional indian dishes and some new finds. They have a good medium size dining room but it fills up very quickly on the weekends. I is typical to see groups of diners outside waiting for a table. They have a few very tight parking stalls in the rear and everything is would be metered street parking.

Work lunch Wednesday was brought to us by Spice Up house of Indian cuisine! We found out that the head cook who works at tadaka used to work at spice up. Our ordering was done through a food delivery service app so we didn't visit the restaurant in person.I ordered the veggie korma, something I have never tried before and decided to take a chance. It was a good portion and had good flavor. I don't think we were given the option for a spice level with any of our dishes so I was surprised when all the dishes had no spice whatsoever. Usually an Indian dish, even mild, has some heat to it. I also found their veggies to be frozen for the carrots which added that super sweet taste that I don't like. And the potatoes were cut into big chunks not the same size as the small frozen carrots and peas. The flavor of the sauce was good it just needed a bit more salt. Overall I wasn't really impressed with the dish I got so if we do try it again, I'll probably get something else.

Lunch out on a Sunday is a nice delightful change. Got there shortly after they opened and lots of parking in the back parking lot at 11 am.If you're in a low carb phase like me... oh well, garlic naan and mango lassi cannot be sacrificed no matter what. Just have to swab up the delicious sauces and temper my palate with that drink and ordered mild.Chose butter chicken and tandoori shrimp too. If eating regularly I'd also get the biryanis, chicken tikka masala and more types of naan plus curry. The ethnic music makes me happy there. The restaurant slowly got packed but the food kept coming out of the kitchen. When people place take out orders and customers are willing to wait for a table outside you know it's good here.
