I'm pretty sure I already wrote a review for Shioketh, because I tried it several months ago and really enjoyed it. I also really pride myself as 1/4 Singaporean lol. But oh well here we go again. Shioketh is a Singaporean popup, only open on Mondays and Saturdays. Ofc, I work on Mondays, so I'm left to attempting to try more things on the menu on Saturdays. It's a rough life. Palolo will always have a special place in my heart, so I'm happy to drive along Palolo Ave to the little hapa market where a laundromat used to be. I've stopped into Hapa Market a few times and it seems like they're struggling but idk. I know the counter within Hapa Market that Shioketh is used to be a coffee shop and held other real pop ups in the past. Hawaii needs more Singaporean food, which is another great reason to try this place out. They have a pretty limited menu that I think changes weekly. We had a chicken and rice dish and a fried noodle dish. Both were hot and delicious. I particularly liked the sauces. OH and the bandung fizzy drink. I have no idea what's in it, but it reminds me of childhood trips to Singapore, eating ice kachang in hawker centers. When we went, you ordered at the counter and then they'd call your name to pick up the food which was served in take out containers. There were a handful of cute tables inside to sit and enjoy food at. I was able to take a look at Hapa market's offerings while I waited, but unfortunately they didn't have a lot of fresh produce at that time. Would I be back? Hell yeah! I just wish they were open more than 2 days a week.

Know that the menu rotates week to week so it's not always the same. Looks like a 3 to 4 week rotation. In this way the choices are always fresh but if u want the Nasi Lemak, you will have to wait a few weeks!Staff is very friendly and you can definitely hear the Singlish (Singaporean English) from the kitchen.Service is a bit slow - looks like they make each on order. So relax and hang loose. The food is worth it!We had the Crispy Wonton Noodle and the Punggol Mee Goreng. Both were very authentic and good. Had the right spicy kick and quantity wise they were just right. We also tried the Lychee Iced Tea and the Pandan Iced Coffee. They were both feast for the eyes as well as to the taste buds!Cost wise it seems a bit pricy but everything eating out today is. So no different. Just don't convert it to Singaporean or Malaysian dollars...Finally, Shioketh is pronounced as Shi-Ok-eth. It translates to the best of the best! Come try it!

This is such a surprise for me. I am just glad that there's a Singaporean food here that will surely satisfy for those who craves it.Came here for lunch and we were greeted happily by the staffs. They were so friendly and despite the busy situation they were able to show the Aloha to their patrons. There are several chairs and tables available to dine-in if you wish to. So far the environment is clean and welcoming.Got Blooming Eggs (deep fried omelette bloomed in hot oil and topped with sweet soy sauce, pork floss, green onions and shallots). Surprisingly it was so good. It kind'a look weird for an omelette but the moment I got my first forkful taste it was simply a blast in my mouth. The flavors are there. It was seasoned well and t'was my first time to have pork floss and I love it tbh.Paired a drink with Watermelon Cucumber Spritzer and couldn't be more refreshing and perfect pair. So good that I want to order one more but the wifey stopped me, lol and got water instead. Haha.Anyhow, this pop-up is worth the visit and their food are so Ono. They round their menu every month so keep updated through their social media account. One pop-up restaurant in Pālolo Valley at a time.

Weekend lunch date with Dumboz on one of the pop-ups in Hapa Market at Palolo Valley.FOOD.BEEF RENDANG(A dry curry made with fork-tender beef which has been slow-cooked over four hours with spices and coconut milk, then fried with a braising liquid until it caramelizes around the meat. Served with rice and side salad)WATERMELON CUCUMBER SPRITZER(A refreshing fruit spritzer served with mint and cool cucumber slices)All I can say here is - HEAVEN FOR MY BELLY. This exact food reminds me of my college days. And those were happy days. Although it might be too overcooked for other people it is still worth the try. The dish is so flavorful, bold and savory. Perfectly paired with rice! The drink is so refreshing and perfectly paired with it as it flushes down all the goodness.Mahalo Shioketh for healing my inner college days.Checkout their IG account (@shioketh) for an updated menu and their opening hours.Mahalo for reading and happy juandering fellow Yeeps.

Having grown up in Indonesia and Singapore, I had to come check this place out! We ordered the ayam penyet and the pandan coffee and it definitely did not disappoint.Portion was a little small for its price, but the food was so good. The chilis was so authentic and good! The pandan coffee was great too! It was just the right amount of sweetness! The place was a little hot, especially during the day, and the space was pretty small. The servers were super friendly and told us the owner's background and their love for food. Definitely worth checking out!

Can't believe I get to be the first one to review this absolute GEM of a pop-up! It is one my new favorite places to eat in Honolulu, and believe me that is a very short list. Every bite I ate was an explosion of delight to my taste buds. My wife just laughed when she watched me eat our first meal here, which consisted of the Beef Rendang and the Blooming Eggs. The flavors!!! Oh man, the flavors!!!! Every bite was heavenly: the beef was soft and aromatic, with just the right balance of heat and spices, while the blooming eggs were crispy and delectable. Their food took me back to Singapore, minus the 19 hour flight time. The best thing about the food is that they DON'T WATER DOWN THE FLAVORS OR HEAT!!! No offense to the other "Singaporean" pop-ups and restaurants on Oahu, but they all miss the mark in these categories. Finally, we have a spot that cooks the food with all the spices and heat level that it's supposed to have! Sooooo good! I haven't tried their laksa yet, but I have no doubt that as soon as I do, it's over for the other places here (the place at the mall is just bland, and Panya ... lol, no comment). Edit: they don't actually have a laksa - yet. The prices are very reasonable and the food here is worth every single penny. The family that runs the spot are super nice, as are the staff that work there. I love that they have a new menu every week. This just means we will be going back every. Single. Week!I'll amend this review again later after we try more (Sambal Goreng and Ayam Payet for dinner tonight), but my wife and I are just beyond thrilled to have an AUTHENTIC taste of Singapore in Honolulu. FINALLY!!

The food here is great and the service is phenomenal. Everything is freshly made to order so if you don't want to wait, you can order online ahead of time and set a pick up time. I didn't mind waiting for my food, and it was actually quite relaxing. I got to walk around and see items that hapa market had for sale, enjoy my pandan iced coffee, and viewed the hustle and bustle of the kitchen. The girl at the front was so bubbly and sweet, she really made my morning. The pandan iced coffee is so delicious and special. They have many unique menu items that you can't find anywhere else on Oahu!! Parking here is a breeze. This is a place you definitely don't want to miss out on. Check their Instagram for menu and hours :) they also had a special basque cheesecake for sale today!

I love Shioketh! All of the food is tasty, though some of it sets my mouth on fire since my spice tolerance is not that high. Nonetheless, the food tastes so good that I am willing to keep trying, especially for the Sambal Goreng. No matter what else you order, a must-have is the pandan waffle. It is amazing plain, but if you can have the calories, eat it with the whipped cream and pandan ice cream. The menu rotates, so get the Beef Rendang whenever it is available! The most recent item we tried (and loved) was the Szechuan Mapo Tofu and Bandung Fizzy. The ambiance is a nice and quiet cafe if you want to eat in. It is not air-conditioned, but most of the time Palolo is pretty cool. The workers are very friendly and fun, and they give great servi. It is good food, though not always fast, so if you're in a rush, order online so it will be ready when you get there. I take the time waiting to go and look at Hapa Market's organic produce, so I think it's a great use of time to get my food fresh!

I finally can say that I've tried every beef rendang (Indonesian dry beef curry) version on this island and Shioketh wins the 3-way race (vs. Straits & Nasi Lemak Hi)!!First of all -- the flavors this little pop-up brings to the dish are authentic -- not too sweet (side-eye at Straits), and also not so chili-hot that it's unbearable for Western tastebuds. Yet the Singaporean owner has not compromised the complexity of the rempah (mixture of spices). How do I know? I spent decades in Singapore & Malaysia with side business trips to Indonesia & Brunei.Second, this is the cheapest of the three outlets I visited -- Straits is charging $26.00 (Ward restaurant rent, I know) and Nasi Lemak HI charges $24.00 (although he includes the traditional achar and peanuts/anchovies as a combo set of nasi lemak + rendang curry). Pretty pricey and the beef portion was the same as Shioketh ($19.00).Third, all the counter staff are very warm & friendly. When mishaps happened (like their waffle machine breaking), the owner was quick to respond with coupons etc. to make it up to customers.Fourth - the pandan waffle is to DIE for. My partner inhaled his ... I had to scramble for my portion!! Last, I love the choice of drinks paying homage to Southeast Asia - from their beloved Pandan coffee to the new Bandung (rose-flavored) fizzy. Be aware that the coffee is strong - like it is in SEA. Parking is sufficient for the size of the place but there is no AC (you will feel like you're authentically sweating it out in Jakarta!). Plating is simple in takeout containers and if you don't want to join the LONG queue on Saturdays then going on Mondays is a good bet or order online for pickup.
