Shiggy's is a great Japanese-style bento spot. I got the $3.99 special, which came with one slice of teriyaki glazed spam, one hot dog, one thick slice of tamagoyaki, one slice of kamaboko, and takuan.Everything was cooked perfectly. The short grain rice was abundant and fluffy, although slightly soft from residual steaming. Spam was lightly pan fried, and not burnt to a crisp.By bento standards, everything else felt pretty standard. All things considered, this is much better than something you can get from 7-Eleven. For $4, I have no complaints. The area is a little rough, but the uncle working the register was very friendly. I'll be back to check out some of their more premium items on the menu

Always in search for Kohakuto. The Japanese Agar-Agar sugar treat. Difficult to make the authentic way. So far Sachi Sweets is my favorite. However, a close runner up is the Kohakuto made by Shiggy's. I picked up a bag of Shiggy's Kohakuto first at a Soccer fundraiser in front of Walmart. Multiple flavors were available. I selected the variety bag of Grape, Bubble Gum and Lychee. Every flavor was subtle, but it is sweet. After all it's made with sugar. I wanted to find the store location and thankfully my Yelp buddy Donna O. was the first to review this place! Lucky!Jackpot! We found bags of Kohakuto there. Many flavors as well. Of course I picked up a variety of flavors. Donna got a stash as well lol. I'm a bad influence here. We met Shige (sp. ?) of Shiggy's. A very polite and nice man with a Japanese accent. He is very personable and full of Aloha. He kept apologizing to us as he was preparing 800 bentos for pick up. We were not in a rush so we told him not to worry as we were looking at everything in the store / restaurant. See pictures for menu and goodies available for takeout. Great bentos, snacks, and service here. Support local. 4.5/5 stars

Homemade by Shiggy...Early morning drop off for mom at her appointment as me up at em in the early morning without breakfast to start my work day isn't something unusual though since it's still early I thought Shiggy's would be perfect since I'm in the area.Shiggy's is located in Kingsgate Plaza which sits on a super busy intersection of Dillingham, Liliha and N King Street that has Jollibee prominent view from the street has entrances from either end though with the current rail construction can make it quite a challenge at times but with lots of free parking it's still a great place to grab some grub.Even at the early morning they have various bentos ready to go but it's their "Moning Special" for me with scrambled eggs, spam or Portuguese sausage and rice for $7.99 is quite pricey considering their right next door to 7 Eleven just knowing it's freshly made is what has me drooling. It didn't take very long and it was all ready to go packed with everything that I needed...my super sad moment once I had ready to go I dropped it...the whole bento flipped over upside down with nothing to save...WAH!!! The Portuguese sauce was shaped like Spam which is what I though I got but I never got to taste it at all sadly but will be back to this lovely place with a delightful Japanese guy doing it all is quite amazing.Thank you!

Update on Shiggy on Friday my Manager is finally retiring lol. So I ordered couple of bentos for his going away party .Mr.Shiggy's requires only couple days in order to put in a custom order . Basically I ordered the Fish and shrimp tempura bento @ $10.95 then I added spam, Hot dog, and sweet egg Shiggy's-San charged me $13.95 which was great .Everyone at the gathering said that the bento was very delicious and filling. I highly recommend Shiggy's located at the corner of Dillingham and King St. next door to 7-11 and Jolibee .He also sells a breakfast bento for $3.99 which you can't beat the price . It comes with an egg , spam , hot dog over a bed of sushi rice . Support local

I randomly went into Shiggys the other day looking for a snack. I had dropped my husband off at physical therapy near kuakini and was honestly trying to go to yifang to get boba, when I realized they closed their iwilei location. So I pulled into the jollybee'a parking lot to come up with a plan. There's a s7 icy bubble that I'm not that fond of, but will go to if I'm desperate. And then on yelp I found shiggys. Shiggy is the guy who used to(?) maybe still does (?) stand in the kahala times and make sushi. I remember he made these ume, radish, sprout rolls that I loved, but really couldn't afford because it was like $5 for two little rolls. Anyway, I was pleasantly surprised to find out that he has a little shop in kalihi. They offer things made to order and also offer grab and go things like little bentos and gyoza. If you go near closing, the prepared food is discounted. It's just a little to-go store. There aren't any tables to sit at and eat and it's a little run down. It has character haha. I'd be back for a snack. I hope he can still make those ume rolls. I'd splurge every now and then haha.

7-28-2023 Vegetable Tempura; The texture was gummy. The taste was ok. Inari sushi; Flavor was in the aburaage ( tofu wrapper ). It was light on the vinegar flavor and not too sweet. I'm not sure if It was Shiggy at the counter. He was very friendly and kept thanking me for the monetary tip I left.Overall, I will be back. Enjoy.

Owner is very friendly. Variety of bentos to choose from, along with plate lunches and such. There is breakfast too. The place is small with some tables. Overall the prices are reasonable and the food we got was hot and fresh. I even tried the ramune drink.

Takeout breakfast and lunch in Honolulu, Hawaii...My friend, Donna O., was First To Review a little over a year and a half ago. I also read great reviews by Craig T. and Sharon M. Thanks for the information! When I took my niece, mom, and sister to S7 Icy Bubble at Kingsgate Plaza (corner of Dillingham and King Street), I was reminded that I should go to Shiggy's. The big yellow sign in the window, "$3.99" is eye catching!Located next to 7-Eleven, Shiggy's shares the same free parking lot with Jollibee and Jiffy Lube. The cozy, clean shop has a large table filled with ready-to-go bentos and sides. The display case has some desserts and banchan. They also have a refrigerator filled with cold drinks. I decided to get the $3.99 special bento. It has a red hotdog, slice of spam, tamagoyaki, Furikake, red ginger, and takuan on a bed of white rice. I also got the Unagi Bowl and the tofu nuggets with katsu sauce.I liked everything! The spam in the $3.99 bento was on the sweet side. The Unagi had some scrambled egg on the rice. The tofu nuggets didn't really need sauce, but the sauce made it a bit more fun!Service was very polite, efficient and cheerful! I think I saw Shiggy - he was smiling and energetic! This positive experience makes me want to return!

I go CHANCE 'EM!!!!!Das what I said to myself after seeing da pic of an Unagi Bowl that my Yelp buddy - Da FAMOUS Auntie Nadine C. had posted on Yelp!At first, I thought this bento joint was located in Wahiawa, as I guess I got confused with Shiggy's vs. Shige Saimin Stand in Wahiawa.......(sorry old people problems! Old folks get confused Yo!) Lol!!!Shiggy's is located at da Kingsgate Plaza in Kalihi, da shop is sandwiched between a 7-Eleven store (and no, I did not sneak next door for a Garlic Chicken Musubi) & a discount T-Shirt shop.A nice little local hole-in-da-wall joint that sells pre-made bentos. They also sell a few drinks, & pastry items.I mainly came here for dat Unagi Bowl, as me digs Unagi!!!What can I say about da grindages?Buggah was broke da moufth ono!!!! When I picked up that Unagi bowl, da buggah was supah heavy! Besides the Unagi - (Freshwater Eel), underneath the eel was a nice fluffy bed of a scrambled egg, and a very generous portion of fluffy rice, topped with a side of Sansyo - (Japanese Pepper).I must say that the Unagi bowl was da perfect meal for a hearty breakfast in da morning, as the unagi sauce that was topped on the freshwater eel had spilled on top of my egg, making it a wonderful, savory, lip-smackin' meal!!!!Ummmmmmmmmmmm, I like go back and eat another Unagi Bowl again! Lol!Shoooooooooooots den! If you're not into Unagi like Bruddah Fran, go check out da $3.99 Bento DEALAGES (see my pic)! Da $3.99 Bento looked pretty ono too.
