Shay's Smashburgers

These are some of the best burgers on the island. I love the classic and funguy. The krazy sauce is a mix of mayo and mustard and it's unreal. Seating is outdoors and come just before they open or you'll be waiting a long time for your order. They are busy and very popular!

Wait...Depending on when you get here, there can be a wait. I've been here where I waited 10 mins to 45 mins. Yea that was a bad day. But now they have covered benched while you wait. The food isn't premade. They start your order when the customer in front of you gets theirs. So if someone orders ten burgers, you get to wait. Ooh and everyone gets fries. Because really you can't have a burger without fries. The burgers are always juicy, you can even see that before you take a bite. The meat juices just oozes down your hand. This is why plastic gloves come with each burger. And you know I believe the smaller the menu the more time to perfect the food. The menu is simple. What kind of burger, what kind of fries, what kind of can drink. Shay's is located across from Boston's Pizza (I know you read that review). Where a use car lot use to be.Parking is where you want it to be since it's a dirt lot. Overall four stars. The food is great. It's the gamble of getting back to work from lunch on time that prevents the glorious five stars from me. M

It was just okay for my husband and I. They're made to order so they do take a little bit, do not come if you're pressed for time. Maybe I need to give it another try. Food was tasty, but on the higher side. But I guess that's just Hawaii prices too.

At our son's suggestion, we stopped by Shay's Smash Burgers to pick up lunch since he kept seeing it on his IG. He's been wanting to try it for a while. They were really nice and we didn't have to wait that long for our order. We all decided to try the All-American Smash Burger and Krazy Fries and everything is made to order so it's fresh. I must say that we all thought it was very tasty It's a bit messy, but they did provide those clear serving gloves There are picnic tables both covered and uncovered and there is parking on an unpaved lot. We're looking forward to going back so we can try the other burgers!

One of my favorite burgers on the island. At a good price point too!This is a small food truck, decent parking with 7 tables or so. Expect a wait since its a small place. I got my order to go, crazy fries and their normal burger with an egg added (over medium). They also gave me plastic gloves as they said it would be messy. The service was pleasant.The hamburger: (4.5/5): nice sear and crunch on the outside, meat was good quality and the burger had a great meat to bun ratio. The secret sauce is sweet, honey mustard/ketchup blend as a base. The bun was of decent quality and the egg was cooked almost perfectly. I was pleasantly surprised that the cheese was fully melted too. My one suggestion is I wish they added more sautéed onions to the burger, i would have enjoyed a more prominent onion flavor.Crazy fries (3/5): fries were well salted, average fries. Since i got my order to go im sure that affected the quality and would be better if eaten immediately. The sauce was good but it was quite sweet which was overwhelming for the fry itself. They have a crazy fries with bacon option, im sure the saltiness from the bacon compliments the sweetness of the sauce better than the non bacon version. I plan on trying that next time i go and would recommend the same to others.

Finally got the chance to try this spot! For some reason I always want smash burgers on Sundays but they're closed LOL Shay's is definitely worth the wait. We came early lunch and not surprised that it was busy. So of course we assumed there'd be a wait but it wasn't a problem cause our babies slept the whole time. Hubby got the deluxe Fun Guy; he inhaled his burger lmao I got the classic burger with extra grilled onions but I think they forgot to add it in my burger. Both meals were delicious!! Probably the best smash burger I've had! Secret sauce might be a little sweet but other than that it's good. We'll definitely be back!

Shays was just okay. Nothing I would write home about. Ambiance is kinda meh and the service was just as lack luster. The burgers was alright. Expensive for the hype.

I finally got to try Shay's Smashburgers after hearing about it and it was pretty good! The food truck is located in an open lot off the side of Kamehameha highway. Parking can be easily found so that's a plus! I came during lunch time and it looked empty, but turns out there were a bunch of take-out orders ahead of mines so I highly recommend calling ahead of time so you don't have to wait long. Service was friendly and efficient! There are shared benches and tables to eat on and if you're not feeling burgers then there are other food trucks in the area that you could go support :) I had their All American Smashburger with a side of fries. At first, I thought it was going to be on the drier side because the burger is smashed, but it was juicy and flavorful. Their secret sauce was on the sweeter side and paired perfectly with the burger; I just wish I had more sauce. Overall, I would come back again!

Shay's was closed. We were that they will be closed until the end of the month. Bummers!!!! I brought a coworker out with me, as I was craving a smash burger and crunchy fries! We will be back, because she's gotta try them here! This is for a PREVIOUS visit- my first visit. There wasn't a line, thank goodness. I think it was after the lunch rush. The burger was delicious and juicy! The fries- crunchy- is there any other way, to be good?! Tasty! They have seating area, however as they are so close to the road and rail, I felt it was too"exposed." Hopefully, people find out how good this lunch wagon is and they save up enough for an actual building space!!!

Honestly speaking, this is in my top 3 recommendations for O'ahu in general. They have a distinct truck and very lovely smells coming from them that can make any person want to have a smash burger, and I can confidently say that they're my favorite smash burger place on O'ahu. Not only are they jam-packed with flavor, they're also affordable/at a cheaper price, and their $7 smash burger is my go-to.
