School of Salsa

After one private lesson with Mr. Teves, the leads I regularly dance have noticed an improvement in my dancing! I have been going to Mr. Teves' bachata lesson & dance social (Bachata Lovers) on off for about six months. And even took one of his workshops. I was always a fan of his teaching style, and always learned something new at Bachata Lovers. That's why I decided to take the next step, and sign up for private lessons. There really is no substitute for that one on one time, where an individual's specific dance issues can be addressed.

I had such a good time here!I took the beginner bachata class because I was too scared to take the advance class, but in hindsight, I would've been fine. The instructor still taught me some tricks for leading that I will definitely carry with me. She is able to project her voice very well so the class can hear her fine. She has great crowd control and awareness of our different skill levels. My only real complaint, the DJ during the social. I showed up thinking it was a bachata night, and they continued to play salsa music. This is honestly common for venues to play bachata and salsa, but it usually says bachata and salsa night. I don't really know salsa, so that's why it bothered me. Anyways, I definitely plan on coming back if I make it back to Honolulu. I had a really good time.

Kudos to Samir! To celebrate my birthday, a group of my closest friends (a total of 4 couples) enjoyed a private 2-hr lesson at the School of Salsa. We had a fabulous time learning beginner's salsa and bachata -- such positive energy, moderate physical and mental activity, in a comfortable studio. Samir is an exceptional teacher - talented, humorous, and caring. Though none of us likely will become a professional ballroom dancer, we all shared memories to last a lifetime. Mahalo nui loa!

Amazing!! Samir and Farah are just wonderful. They're exactly what we were looking for, to do our 1st dance at our wedding. They are combining our vision with theirs making our dream come true. Highly recommended. Very personal and inviting sessions.

Samir and Christina are both really nice people, great dancers, and exceptional instructors. Go to their salsa and/or bachata classes and you will feel right at home with them and their students--the School of Salsa ohana. I was very rusty when I started dancing with them about a month ago, and they offered patient and insightful instruction and feedback to help me get back in dancing form and improve my dancing, and they and all their regular students have been a pleasure to dance with. Whether you are a total beginner or an advanced dancer, I highly recommend that you check out the School of Salsa.

I've checked out all the Salsa dance lessons in Honolulu, Samir Teves is the best salsa teacher on Oahu! I'd been taking salsa dance classes on and off for several years. I was frustrated because I didn't feel I was progressing. I started taking Samir Teves's group classes, and once I experienced his teaching method, I realized that this guy can get me to a competent level. Samir breaks salsa dancing down in very logical steps. Samir Teves has a solid plan on how to teach salsa dancing. Because of his great teaching skills, I started taking private lessons in addition to his group classes. In the private lessons, Samir focuses on what I wanted to learn and he would point out the little mistakes that I was making that were preventing me from dancing well. I've found Samir's salsa dance method to be easy to learn. Samir is very patient. He's a great teacher. And he's a great guy. I highly recommend Samir for salsa dance classes and / or private lessons.

Fantastic interactive learning fun. Great vibes. Amazing instructors. Will be coming back. The social at the end was legit.

I have been taking classes at School of Salsa for 3 years and I love the social dance afterwards. The instructors who are actually a couple: Samir and Farrah are masters of their art and teach it so passionately. It does not matter if you are a beginner or expert, casual or devoted, old or young, anybody and eveybody are welcome. I am grateful every time I dance there.

What a great place and community to learn a little bit more of what you love. I actually met Samir at a dance social and had no idea he was a dance instructor until weeks later. The moment I find out I decided to try out the FREE class that they offer (YES first class is FREE) I fell in love right away. The atmosphere is great, and the classes are small and personalize. Samir and Farah make you feel right at home the moment you step in their class. I've tried another salsa classes before but I can say Samir's classes are the best. He is patient, organized and explains to you step by step so it is very easy to follow. If you are thinking about learning salsa, bachata or even merengue School of Salsa is the place to go.
