The Scholastic Book Fairs happens several times a year. I think one is in December and one is at the end of the school year in May. I enjoy going to the December fair because books can be a great gift for kids. Haha can you tell I'm in the education field.... Anyways, I went there this year because I was going to get my daughter's class books for their Christmas presents. They have quite a few specials at the book fair. One of their specials is build a box. You get a box for like $25 and fill it with as many books as you want. Sounds great but there's only a certain section that you can look to do that. Nothing in that area looked good to me. Helpful hint: if you want to get the good cheap books, then go early. I went about a week and half after it started and many of the cheap books were gone. They have aisles and aisles of books arranged by age or topic. Since I was looking for preschool books, I went to the preschool aisle. I didn't really know the system but I figured it out after walking down a few more aisles. There are price labels under each book. If it has a pink label, that means it's a discounted and cheap book. Since I was buying 18 books, as soon as I noticed that I went through every aisle to look for those cheap books. Of course since I was a week and a half late, many of them were gone. I did find one interesting book for $2 and was able to find 18 copies for the class. I thought I struck the jackpot with $2 a book. But then I went up to the counter and found out it's buy one book, get one free. Woohoo, I was over the moon. I got 18 books for $18! What a deal! The worker said all books are buy one, get one free.I'd definitely go back here. If you're looking for books for kids, come check out this place.

I was a co-chair this year on my kid's school's book fair, and I had a great experience with them for that, as well as their warehouse sale.I signed up online for a preview event, and I got loads of great ideas for our fair, as well as some freebies. There are lots of resources available for book fair chairpeople, both direct from the warehouse and staff, as well as online. Restocking was pretty easy - we called a 800 number, and the orders were available for warehouse pick-up the next day. We happened to pick a book fair week that was apparently book fair week for everybody else on island, so we had a bunch of titles that sold out and were out of stock. Not much anyone could do about that, but it would be helpful if they were able to plan ahead for busy rushes, or connect the national 800 number with local warehouse stock. There's also a warehouse sale 2x a year, and I just got some fantastic deals at the December sale (convenient for holiday gifts). They open up the warehouse for shopping direct from the shelves, plus they have a clearance section up front where you can fill a box for a fixed price. All warehouse books are BOGO, and so is the clearance box deal. Two boxes of books for $30. I split mine with someone else, so we each got a box of books for $15 each. There was a variety of books for grownups, teens, elementary, and preschool; harcover and paperback. I got 20-30 books (a lot of thin paperback leveled-readers) in my box, which is a remarkable deal. They reset their clearance fill-a-box section every day with new stuff, too. I signed up online and got a coupon code emailed to me. Cash, credit, debit, Scholastic Dollars, and purchase orders accepted. Staff were friendly and helpful and there are multiple registers, so I doubt you'd ever have a wait.

Only in MAY and DECEMBER! This place is the warehouse for the books they use in the traveling Scholastic Book Fairs that come to all the schools throughout the year. Twice a year they open up the warehouse to "teachers, librarians, school personnel, book fair chairpeople, school volunteers, homeschool personnel". I'm sure if you're interested, you can fall into one of those categories. DIRECTIONS...You will feel like you're driving in the wrong place. From town, take the H3/Halawa exit and go to the end until it says "Halawa Valley Street" and flip that sharp right turn. Go PAST Iwaiwa St and stay on that winding road, under the H3 freeway until you see "Waiua Place". Turn RIGHT on Waiua Place and then LEFT into Waiua Way. MOST of the items were HALF OFF their already low prices. They had books for Preschoolers all the way up to middle school. My kids don't like electronic books, and sometimes they lose or destroy the books from the library. Now that Borders is gone and Barnes and Noble is slowly disappearing, this is a really great option to stock up on books without breaking the bank. This year I registered online at www.scholastic.com/bookfairs and printed out a coupon for an additional discount so I ended up getting 17 books, 13 pencils and 13 erasers for $40! What a great deal.

Teachers' heaven! I love Scholastic's books. I order them all the time. Dare I say I'm a Scholastic fanatic! The warehouse is only open during their Book Fairs which is usually in December and in May. I use my school's PO (purchase order) to replenish my classroom library. Don't expect service like from Barnes & Noble or from long gone Borders. It's pretty much self serve, but if you need help the employees and volunteers there will help you. Just take your time perusing the aisles of books and novelties. It's easy to spot titles at eye level, but you'll have to tippy toe to see what the book titles are in higher shelves. It's hot in herrr! There's no AC. The warehouse doors are wide open and there's fans, but you'll break a sweat just browsing. Checking out will take awhile, especially when a teacher like me has a PO of up to $200 to spend. I've also volunteered here with my co-workers and my husband. Pretty much we scan books and re-shelve them (it's kinda fun!). Volunteering also only happens during their Book Fairs in December and May. Volunteers earn $10 an hour to use towards get "free" books and novelty items like pens, pencils, erasers, pointers, etc. I've scored tons of recipe books and school supplies to give out to my students as incentives. I'm looking forward to getting more "free" stuff at the next book fairs.

Big shout out to Lori I. for helping me with all my Scholastic questions! I came here for their May book fair and I have to say, I was quite impressed. There was books for all ages (even a few adult books like Nicholas Sparks and Kristin Hannah). The prices on these books were cheap! I walked out with 8 books for $30. 3 of them were hardback books. I will definitely come back every sale. What is better than good books for a great price?
