Like riding it as a quad and twin as well. 5 box set up makes it fun to play with different fin configurations.

After years of laying off surfing, slowly got back into it again. Wanted to step down from a 6'8" to a shorter board for the summer south shore. A friend recommended I check out Carl Schaper's shop located in the Waialua Sugar Mill. Shop located a ways in, but just look for the Schaper flags and you're good to go.Damo the office manager and Carl the owner worked with me to set up the specs on my custom order. Helped me to dial in a "realistic set-up" for my transitioning needs. Got my new custom board in 3 weeks! Wasn't sure what to expect since I'm dusting off the "kook" shell and working my way back into the line up. The board has been a gem! Helping me to remember what it was like to surf as a youngster grom back in the day. Ending up getting a "Fish Stick." Was the right transitional board for me. Carl and Damo, you called it! Mahalo!Fair is fair go check them out!

Took a board down to the shop to see if it were possible to duplicate. Carl took the time to explain all options and was very friendly and helpful. The shop is very modern and clean. There are many boards of all sizes and designs. Will definitely be back to purchase a board. Highly recommended.

I had a custom Sugar Rush made by Schaper. I love the board. It performs as billed in the description. I mostly ride it south shore and it carves well/glides nicely. I bought it longer for glide in south shore surf and smaller waves (7'6"--I'm 165lbs). But it steps up very nicely in bigger surf. I have a FireWire Potatonator and a HyptoKrypto. I ride my Sugar Rush more. And if you order custom from the shop, the board costs almost half as much. My only regret is not ordering slightly heavier glass on top--minor pressure dings. Overall, I'm very happy. Thank you. Lesson learned: buy local/local shaper. It was way easier/less intimidating than I thought. And the shop/shaping room is cool.

Schaper boards are awesome! I only started surfing 8 months ago and Carl made me my first board. You will get an in depth consultation on your abilities and what you are trying to achieve and then he goes into math aerodynamics mad scientist mode and shapes you a killer board. Once I had my first 8'6 somewhat mastered, I ordered my newest 8'0 funshape, which is SO FAST and FUN. I have a stand-up and 7'4 in the works too. He also has tons of boards you can buy off the rack and other surf gear. Really reasonable prices. Just go check it out!!! You won't be sorry.
