If I had been born male, I would have attended St. Louis School in Kaimuki, Honolulu, Hawai'i.Yes, it's an all boys' school. My grandfather, father, nephew, and two brothers-in-law are St. Louis graduates. That means that they belong to "The Brotherhood".I guess it's a good school. My grandfather was a dentist. My father was a Lt. Colonel in the US Air Force and Postmaster of Hickam Air Force Base. One of my brothers-in-law is an engineer. My nephew works at Pearl Harbor. The facilities are well maintained. I've been to The Mamiya Theater and this evening, I went to a graduation celebration at the Clarence T.C. Ching Learning & Technology Center. (The wealthy graduates are generous donors and have buildings named after them... and they have a chance to rent the facilities and host parties for their grandchildren! LOL!)Go Crusaders!Go Red and Blue!

My son just completed kindergarten here and absolutely loves this school. Comparing his curriculum versus his twin who attended a very good public school on East Oahu is night and day. So much so that I had my public school son do the same homework as his brother. Besides the good academics, our son also picked up some exposure to gardening, music, robotics, Hawaiian and Chinese cultures. On to first grade!

As a former alumni of the School('86), and with my son entering the seventh grade. I have been impressed with changes made to the school. The new science and technology building is impressive along with the new courses and curriculum offered to the students. Most of these programs are being introduced to the high school students, so my son will not be able to benefit for a couple of years. As an incoming student, my son was required to take summer, which provided an opportunity to get used to attending the school and making friends. This was the first time that he actually enjoyed going to summer school! Of course, they had PE every day (Monday through Friday) and he was among other athletes his age. He enjoyed other classes: Art, English, Math, and Religion. I was surprised about his interest in Religion, and was a little worried because back when I was in school, there were strict clergy (Brothers) who taught religion. This course provided an overview of the school, teaching them about school history, traditions, and introduced them to the daily prayer rituals. Athletics - now I realize that the school has a reputation as being a football school, but during the orientation and throughout his first couple of months, there was no mention about sports or football. I was a little worried about try outs and conditioning, but it is not stressed at all. My son saw a flyer and heard from his friends about tryouts, and went after school. Everyone thinks that their son is special, and they may have been a standout in flag football or Pop Warner, but they will a little overwhelmed by playing in the ILH league. The plays are based on the Varsity Program, which is modeled after a College program. My wife and I feel blessed to get this type of training as part of the school tuition! In addition, the players practice on the newly renovated field, track, and facilities. We compared Punahou, Iolani, and Mid Pacific. St. Louis is the best value and was the right place for my son!

Rating: 5/5Date(s) visited: 1/16 & 17/2011, 2010Note: This review is for the Little League (Pinto) Good Will Baseball Tournament.Certainly to be listed in the "Best of the Best." Any event that helps in the development of the youth in the State of Hawaii deserves to be on this list. Home Depot also promotes this. Here's my review for it:http://www.yelp.com/user_details_review_search?userid=gzLNJYcykoNlod6C2csdUw&q=home+depotThe Saint Louis Good Will Pinto Baseball Tournement is held here almost every year, and is open to all Leagues on the Island of Oahu, on a 1st-come-1st registration completion. The Athletic Department of Saint Louis School did a great job hosting this event. The Staff were very helpful in all aspects of Hosting the event. Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!For anyone who is a baseball fan, has played in a little league, or even played Little League World Series Baseball on the Wii, this Tournament is the Live version of that. Complete with the music and introduction of the players. It was so cool! It'll make you feel like a kid again!

Attended St. Louis for a year during freshman year back in the mid 90s. Not sure if anything has changed, but it wasn't the best school in terms of education and support. The environment wasn't conducive to learning. I ended up missing a total of about 30 days due to bullying. Transferred out after freshman year and ended up in a much better school and environment.Would not recommend this school if you are not athletically inclined.2 stars given as this was an eye opener experience for me.

This school is average. My stepson is attending intermediate school and he made some good friends. Academically I think the school is lacking. There is a lot of emphasis on sports, particularly football and brotherhood but the academics are rather average. Also what surprising was it that since it is an all boys school I'd expect to see better playground facilities especially for elementary school. I think if you want to avoid sending your son to public school and are a catholic who wants your son to grow up among only boys only, this might be a good school for you.
