Picking up a gift card for my son who frequents Roy's so on my way to HH with friends I stopped in. I've never been in Harbor Center before so I just wandered through the parking lots looking for the store front. This center is impressive with the number of businesses and I need to make it a point to come back when I have time.I wanted a long sleeve Tee shirt to go with the gift card so this tiny little woman grabbed a ten foot pole with an inverted hook on the end and walked me to the back of the store. After going through every shirt in the style I wanted the 2X was apparently out of stock but at least now they're all in order with plenty of 3Xs. Down the wall to the same shirt but short sleeved I scored one for him. The entire search process took far more time than I allocated for this stop but hey, only one birthday a year. There is so much equipment, many items on sale it's almost overwhelming. There were a good number of men in there looking at poles and reels. The counter people advise that you bring what you're interested in and they'll give you the sale price. Guess they find if you're looking at a $200 pole and have it in hand you're more likely to buy it if discounted at the register. All I was thinking that I was happy not to have to be there on inventory day! So much stuff everywhere. I don't have a clue when it comes to fishing gear but my guys like to fish, don't mind cleaning their catch and birthday boy is a really good cook. It's a win win for me.

They have some selection but they are just grumpy and seem more worried about who is parking where than running a quality, friendly shop. Seen the older lady walking around the lot banging on windows and yelling at people. I support local but would rather spend money somewhere else.

They have a lot of good inventory to choose from. And decent pricing. But the customer service is always hit or miss. Some days you get the load of attitude, some days you get straight up ignored, others you feel welcomed and get a lot of help.

Stopped by Roy's looking for a whipping pole. My first time there and I didn't know what to expect with the mixed reviews. Looked around for a bit selecting the size and weight capacity that I was looking for. Surprised at the good selection available. I talked to a worker and he was nice and friendly. Finally narrowed down to two but I had another question so I headed to the check out. The guy who helped me was there along with a local lady who helped me with checking out. I my question to her and she was nice and searched the inventory on the computer to see if they had this one specific pole. She was very nice and friendly. I bought the pole and was surprised to get an additional $10 off of the sticker price. I will be back when I need any tackle.

Thank you to the staff at Roy's for giving me tips/advice/lesssons on fishing, and showing me how to tie rigs. I've learned a lot from them. Thank you Dennis for servicing/repairing my reels and advising me on how to take care of my reels so they last. This has been my go to fishing supply shop since 90s. Support local. Check 'em out.

Was looking for a 12' whipping pole for menpachis so gave them a call. When I asked if they had any in stock, the gentleman who answered sounded like he did not want to be bothered. He said "I don't know." He then said, "I think so." I then asked him the price and he proceeded to say, "Oh I dunno cuz we get plenty different kinds." I did him a favor and hung up.Needless to say, I won't be stepping foot in this store; customer service over the phone was sub-par so I'm guessing in-person won't be much better.

One of the bigger fishing shops on the island. I've seen a lot of reviews about bad service, but I've been in a few times the last month and bought some tackle and a new reel from them. I was helped by different people and all of them were friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful. From helping me to find the perfect reel to fit a tricky pole, to spooling the reel, the service was great. I will definitely be going back for anything else I might need.

Been there a few times over the past few years to get ammunition. Like what other reviews say, customer service is hit or miss. A lady that works there is pretty nice, but there's one guy I see there consistently that just trips me out. One time I was looking at ammo for several minutes and the guy never once came over to ask if I had questions-even though I was the only guy in the store at the time. I had to go to him and ask, and even then, he looked like I was bothering him, even though he was not doing much. One time I said something nice to the guy and his response was so rude I just left. I saw a review saying you should be "humble" when go into the store; being respectful is one thing-being expected to take bad attitude for no reason because you're "not worthy"? Nah-I'll go somewhere else.

I see alotta negative reviews about this place but I've been coming here for probably a year since I started fishing. One I thing I think people need to realize is that Roys has probably been here longer than alotta people been fishing and you get what you give in terms of respect. They've probably seen and dealt with all types of people from all walks of life and they're people too so realize theyre not perfect but Roy, Sandy and Dennis have always been respectful and curtious with me. They are also honest about gear, helping pick out items, explaining differences, dropping knowledge and techniques. I believe Jensen Kona said it best in one of his videos: "If you wana get the full experience out of your local tackle shop be patient and come in respectful and humble"(You're not that important, so don't act entitled, you're stepping into their house act accordingly, smile and say hi)They have a massive inventory for both inshore and off the boat. Everything from lead to lures, fly tying material, soft plastics, skirts, tackle bags, and tabis. Not to mention, they're one of a few shops in the country and only one on island as a certified Shimano repair. If you read the reviews and get scared, give them a chance. They'll take care of you.
