Jurassic Park, bring extra balls, be prepared for a wet round... all things you might've already heard. Amazing mountain/forest views! Play smart and you'll be fine! If you've never played, you have to! The course will provide you with plenty of challenges, but none that are unmanageable. Just don't run out of balls! The course and infrastructure is in great shape! The staff is always great! It was a wet day the last time out so it was cart path only, so you had to play smart or walk an extra mile!

DO NOT GO HERE. Seriously. This is not an exaggeration, I'm just trying to the Hawaii golf world a favor. This is by far the worst course on this island. Great views, yes, but with how bad of shape the course is in, it is not worth it. I swear not a single worker has worked on the grounds crew in months it seems. I would not play this for FREE. That's how bad it was.Not only that but they stop you at 5:30 hard stop. There's still 1.5hrs left of daylight!!! These dudes that work here just wanna go home and so they stop you early. Man this was such a disappointment with a trip that took months of planning and saving up for.I seriously would never ever recommend this place to anyone. I'm not trying to be mean or rude I'm really just trying to save you the absolute miserable time I had on this course. Not a single hole playing was worth the incredible views.

Been to this course 3 times now over maybe 10 years? So not often, but we've seen it change over time. This is a beautiful course! Don't let what I'm about to say negate that, because it really is breathtaking. Definitely has a Jurassic park feel on holes 1-9. 10-18 are your more typical open course feel. However, this course has sadly gone downhill. It seems like more of a tourist attraction for $165 than a kept up golf club. You can't use the driving range. It's been closed since COVID the staff told us. That's 5 years ago...why isn't it back up and running now?? Definitely takes the warm up you get from that out of things. There are no cart girls. You can only get food / drinks at the start and passing the 9th hole. No drinking water available on the course either, so that's again at the start or end of the 9th hole as you pass the clubhouse. Thankfully for free. The greens have Bermuda growing all over them, so there are no good puts. They bounce all over the place and any good reads will be thrown off by the grass. The cart paths are pretty bumpy with pit holes from 1-9. When we played in February 2025, you did holes 2-8, 1, and then 9. So they're redoing some of the structure I guess. 3b was unplayable. We love the idea of this course, but if you want good greens and a higher class round for the money, try somewhere else. But if you don't care and just love the scenery this place offers, definitely play here.

Re-visit 2 years after my previous review. Sad to report that the quality of the golf course & facilities has worsened. Particularly the front nine holes are less tended. Crab grass has taken over many of the fairways. Sand traps have less than 1/2" of grain before the club bounces off hard pan.Putting greens are truly kind of ratty. Spotty bare spots prevail. Very few greens roll true.Cart path concrete is broken and lumpy in too many places. Cart paths through the dense jungle areas haven't been cleared in a while, lots of broken and fallen tree branches on the path. The setting, the views, the jungle aroma still astound the senses. This really is a world class location. If you love Jurassic park scenery this is your place. If your spouse / partner / friend plays golf but you don't still accompany them in the cart to see an amazing place.Yes, golf Hawaiian green fees are very expensive for visitors. IMHO this course no longer is a good value for the money.I hope that the owners and management get wise to the worsening condition and have a plan to bring the course back to it's well groomed past.

Royal Hawaiian Golf club is a shell of what it used to be. There is no driving range. I don't know if they still host events like Luana Hills did (previous name). But the course is there and the people are nice! You will be challenged at this course. It is NOT EASY! It never was and it's tough. It seems to always rain here and that makes the greens tough with all the debri. When I went, it was raining crazy!!!!!!! Off and on, off and on. They switched the holes, #1 is what used to be #10. To me, the course is much harder starting from what is #1 now. From #10 on, it's more open but don't let that fool you. It's still hard. Still, it's a great place to go to remind yourself that you are not that good, still lousy and can still shoot super bad score. Take old balls and take lots.Enjoy!oh... the snack shop is open again and there's a nice lady making everything from scratch! SUPPORT!

This is a challenging golf course set in a Hawaiian rainforest. So expect rain if you play during the rainy season. Expect to lose lots of balls u less you can hit dead straight and short shots. It's well setup and playing from the middle to front tees will result in you having an enjoyable round. If you play from the back tees or the tips then expect to have a lot of work ahead of you.The rough isn't fooling around here. Three times I missed the fairway with a drive and landed I. Rough that revealed other players balls but not my own.I think that this course makes it money by selling golf balls to tourists at the turn between 9 and 10. And that is a joke- haha! (But they do sell a lot of golf balls).

The team at Royal Hawaiian Golf club are a pleasure to work with from start to finish. The booking process is organized and Heather is amazing with communication which is really rare for a lot of venues here on Oahu. As an event planner working with the venue plays a huge role in my clients events and the team I would recommend 10/10.The service team was fantastic and made our event amazing!! Thank you so much for showing up in such a professional manner and showing the Navy Seal Fathers and their daughters such an amazing experience. Each seal as they left thanked us and had only great things to say. Could not have done it without you.Thank you thank you!!!Kindly,Gentry DokaGentry Events

The vistas are amazing. The greens, not so much. Previous reviews mentioned the difficulty of playing this course and they weren't kidding. Bring plenty of golf balls!

Played 8/4/24. Overall impression of the course is that it needs a lot of work. First we had to play the holes out of order because trees had fallen on the cart paths and they put detours that was were confusing. We got lost and a lot of other foursome did too. The starter said "it's been that way for a while now."Also there was no drinking water available on the course. We had to get our bottles refilled in the restroom sinks. It wouldn't take much to put in a couple of water coolers up! When I complained to the starter he said "it's been that way for a while now."The handrails on the many stairs going up to the tees are missing or falling down leaving screws and nails exposed. The driving range is closed. The starter said (you guessed it) "it's been that way for a while now."This is one of the most expensive golf courses on the island. Go someplace else. Two stars for the scenery which they can't screw up.

One America's most majestic and terribly owned-managed courses in the world. Everything you could want to be nice or just decent.... is shit, except the layout and location. And... the starter, to add to the 3 hour 9 hole $90 round, was a completely labastic moron. That's as nicely as it can be said.how Tf can you not make money in such an amazing location ?? Been lijw thus for decades too. 25- 30 years ago... a gem. Now just a hot mess. Go elsewhere.
