Roberta Oaks is one of my favorite stores in Honolulu because they offer truly Hawaiian made merchandise. I was drawn in by the exquisite artisan crafted prints of the Hawaiian shirts. They carry a limited number of prints, but the same print will be used for men's shirts, women's dresses and infant clothes. So a young family can get matching Hawaiian attire in these beautiful fabrics. They carry a broad range of Hawaiian upscale artisan merchandise. They had a limited selection of Aloha bags in the most recent patterns. Vintage style Hawaiian prints, locally crafted jewelry and a limited amount of home decor are among the shop's offering. The clerks were friendly without being overbearing. Prices were are a premium, but worth it to get genuine Hawaiian products. The shop is located in Chinatown. There is highly coveted metered street parking or a parking garage near by.

Owner Roberta greeted us warmly. Store very attractively arranged. Purchased two beautiful Aloha shirts (priced fairly for designer type apparel) and when worn compliments followed! Worth the trip to Chinatown, not far from Hawaii Theatre.

Been in love with place and everything Roberta Oaks does for years! The new location is so lovely. For nearly every birthday for friends and family, this is my go to spot. I've picked up two of 3 wedding anniversary gifts from here (would be 3/3 but we were out of state). The plan is to go back again tomorrow to finish my Chrissy (Australian for Christmas) shopping

UPDATED to respond to the owner. Original review: This place was on our list as a must visit as we had seen it during one of our recent trips to the Island. I had researched the website, excited to buy local and support such a cute boutique. Upon arriving, whom I believe was the owner, was not welcoming. We felt like we were not supposed to be in there. Very disappointing experience. When a white male in a Hawaiian shirt walked in, she excitedly greeted him and told him all about their shirts and the store. We did not receive such an intro or a welcome. Suppose next time, if there is a next time, I'll be sure to walk in with my white friends. In response to Roberta's reply, I have left her message for clarity and transparency, please see bullets ** to indicate my reply. ~~~~~Aloha JP. This is Roberta. I did review the date of your review and it was on a Monday, which yes, I was working that day and I do find this to be a very shocking review. Monday's are my solo day in the shop to not only get everything set up for the week, but also multi task with customers, ship online orders, etc. * * The store was empty until the white male customer walked in, only then, did she find herself no longer busy.We pride ourselves on hands on customer service, as well as the quality of products and experience. It sounds like you are implying that because you are not white that I did not greet you the way you wanted to be greeted. This is very offensive and let me remind you that Hawaii is a multicultural place where most all of our local customer base are mixed-race and myself and my staff welcome all to our store and do not discriminate. * * You are right in that the product in your boutique is of high quality. The artists who choose to do business with you are one of the reasons we wanted to visit your store. A family member actually bought items from your store. I didn't include this in my original review, however, since there appears to be a need to explain further, happy to do so, this way, everyone who comes to this Yelp page will get all of the details. My husband is black and your interaction with him in the store is what prompted this review. Any time he asked you a question regarding a product, you stayed in your chair at the register and made him feel extremely uncomfortable. There was a lack of customer service and attention while we were in the store, however, you immediately left the front desk to discuss the origin of your designs and products to a white male customer upon his arrival into your place of business. This leads one to believe that we were not your ideal customer base. * * Now Roberta, we do not need to be reminded that the island is multi-cultural, as parts of our family and lineage comes from the island. It is offensive to feel unwelcomed in a store that was top of the list for visiting. As a non-brown person reminding a brown/black family of Hawaii's history and culture, to me, seems out of place. However, based on your original response, I imagine your next response is, "how dare you, I have brown or black friends." I'll wait.If you think you didn't get the greeting that you want, please remember that I am human and maybe I couldn't get to you if I had a store full of people. * * Again, we were the only customers in the store at the time of the visit prior to the interaction and joy given to the white male customer. Part of being a small business owner means having a list of a million things to do in one day and never being able to get to all of them. * Sure, like greeting customers who do not look like you isn't a priority. No need to explain, we experienced it first hand. It must be a luxury to have the time in your day to write a yelp review where you scratch me off as racist because you didn't get the greeting that you wanted.* When one is on vacation, the luxury of time is abundant. Nailed that one, Roberta. It is not just the greeting, it's the level of customer service, which, from first-hand experience, you are capable of, just depends on who it is. Unfortunate we didn't meet your requirements. It appears we were the target of your bad day, and continue to be.

Been a loyal costumer for a decade. No other aloha shirt brand looks good on my husband. He only wants to wear Roberta Oaks. Other brands are big and boxy but the tailored fit on the ROs is the only way to go! I also have my cat (Mr. Whiskers) and ferret (Officer Butters) wearing her adorable pet scarfs now. I got the whole family a matching aloha shirts and pet scarfs today we are going to take our holiday photo in them! FYI best shop staff in Honolulu!

Didn't purchase anything, but I loved the service and ambiance! You have to be buzzed in to the store, but the workers are very attentive and are always watching the door for when someone wants to come in, and to leave. The selection is very cute - gifts (mugs, incense, greeting cards), men & women clothing, candles, mirrors, jewelry, etc. It's a very small store but it's nicely organized and easy to navigate, to see if they have whatever you're looking for. Prices are on the high side.

The blue breeze orchid shirt that I ordered online just arrived today and I have to say wow gorgeous!! Love the shirt, and the modern slim fit is great. I was looking for a slim fit aloha shirt and now I have found Roberta Oaks!! I don't want to disparage other brands so I won't name them but I find most aloha shirts just too loose and baggy. I will order many more online and hopefully when COVID-19 is over, I will get to go the store in Honolulu. Thank you. Love the shirt and the fit which is very slim, modern and hip. Appreciate that there are still people that create and make beautiful high quality products!

It's a nice little store downtown. Parking is not the greatest. Their products are of high quality and they have some very nice men's aloha shirts, but it'll cost you. I bought a fragrance oil. Took it back the next day and a lot of their products are nonrefundable/returnable. I didn't even open it, I just wanted to exchange it for a different scent. They would not let me. I could understand if I wanted a refund, but I just wanted to switch products. Most of their non clothing products are final sale, and I feel that the employees should let you know at the register, instead of finding out when it's too late. The return/exchange policy is not customer friendly.
