Baby and I had date night. We had just been there for Christmas and was hectic, so this night was better for us since was early and still fairly empty. Went about 6pm on a weeknight and had no problem without a res. We got our table and baby and I went to the bathroom. Came back and already had booster seat set up and kids plate/bowl and utensils. So efficient!Ordered the hamachi kama teishoku and a chawan mushi. Baby ate more than I did! - She loved the udon. Ate all except a few noodles I stole.- Ate 1/4 rice...rice is good there.- Some of the tsukemono...good she only at little b/c I got to finish that.- Sashimi was mine... maguro and salmon with a shiso leaf and some ogo. YUM.- Kama was good...Skin salty and crispy, but meat still soft and juicy. We each ate some and then took the rest home for 2 more meals. - Love tempura but just ate the shishito and shrimp tails. Baby got the rest of the shrimps and the potato.- Chawan mushi was delish...jsut a little bit shrimp inside and ikura on top. Super hot. We went splitsies on that one.Great service. The waiters were attentive and helpful. Grabbed me a bag for the leftovers and extra wipes to bring home. We sat near the kitchen and baby was flirting with the guys. They were so nice to entertain her. A good night for us...

Service and ambiance are good. Comfortable seating and nice workers. Food was definitely a let down though. Mediocre taste and quality, especially for price that was paid. Maybe I showed up on an off day but would not return.

Highly recommend having a reservation in advance! We decided to try this place on a whim while on vacation and they were fully packed but had a slot for us at 7:30. Unfortunately, we had little kids with us whose bed time is fairly early and if you have smaller kids, you'd know going out late is a big no no. The staff were really accommodating as we got there early and asked if we could be sat earlier if there was a cancellation. They offered us to sit outside for a no wait. It was windy but humid so we took our chances. Lightweight regretted it but that was our problem not theirs. Really appreciated the accommodation. Thanks so much team rinka! Food was good for the set, but I still left hungry. I honestly think you can get better on the island, but it was worth the experience. Presentation was A+, service was top notch. Fishes were really fresh. There was a parking garage in the same vicinity free of charge.

Got take out for lunch and I didn't know how massive this bento is! Definitely a good amount of food! The tempura had oroshi (grated daikon) and tempura sauce, and then green tea salt. I was super happy with the green tea salt as it went so well with the tempura. The tempura had an amazing variety and was super good. The sides were also so delicious. Very impressed with the bento! Will definitely try the other bentos next time!

We went here last weekend after hearing good reviews. This is located in the Ward Village area. Parking is in Whole Foods and the restaurant is a close walk to.We made lunch reservations. Our server got us seated quickly and got water for us. After studying the menu, we ordered 2 lunch sets, the chicken karaage and the crab cream croquette with a deluxe unagi as a la carte. The wait for the food was long. This was almost a 3 rating because we were hungry and had to wait about another 20 to 30 minutes for food to arrive to our table. The table next to us ordered sushi and that came out in maybe less than half the time it took our food. When it did come out, the food was really cooked well especially the unagi. The flavors were delicious and the lunches a good portion that for me was just right. We ended on the strawberry pudding and roasted matcha jelly desserts. These were a lot lighter and less sweet than we thought but really good desserts. I'm not one to like strawberries in dessert but I will admit that I would have the strawberry a second or third time.Overall it was a good experience except for ordering warm foods. We might just get sushi next time.

Date: 1/3/25Time: 12:00pmWhat they got right: Food quality, efficiency, and value for lunch sets. Also, free parking!Areas for improvement: Can't think of any.Recommend? YES!My crab cream croquette lunch set ($18.75) came with miso soup, side salad, chawanmushi (steamed egg custard with shrimp & chicken), white rice, pickles and a choice of 2 side dishes. I felt it was A LOT of food for me! But I ate it all because it was that good. The croquettes were creamy, crabby tasting and crunchy. This is my favorite lunch set.

Located in ward village. Casual dining. My wife and I made reservations here for her birthday. We came early and were seated right away. We ordered the agedashi tofu, cucumber rolls, sashimi and chirashi set along with two miller lites. You can tell the quality of the sashimi is fresh just by the texture. Delicious. It came with a bowl of udon with the choice of cold or hot. We were so full by the end of the night! Definitely worth giving this place a try. It will not disappoint!

We had the pleasure to re-visit one of our old favorites recently. Rinka has been a Kakaako area staple for 5 or 6 years now, and we love coming here, as well as their take-out only Bento Rinka location on Beretania street. The restaurant is open and brightly lit, and service is prompt and polite. They have a variety of beer, sake and a selection of cocktail and hard liquor as well. Coffee, tea and soft drinks are also available. We particularly like their lunch specials, which consist of a choice of entree with miso soup and chawanmushi (a savory Japanese custard) plus a choice of two small sides.Prices for the lunch specials range from $18-20 for croquette or tonkatsu with most in the $30 up to $40-plus for more extravagant choices like sushi and sashimi entrees. Alternately, if you really feel like going over the top, the chef's selection sushi set meal can reach $60 or more for the deluxe assortment. The dinner menu includes most (if not all) of the lunch entrees as well as an expansive selection of other items for both teishoku sets and a la carte items. Additional selections like hamburger steak, yakiniku, various hot pots, sukiyaki or assorted teishoku sets. For dinner, the more modest sets start in the $35-$45 range, topping out in the $65-$75 area for the top tier sushi and sashimi selections. They also have an extensive a la carte menu of sushi, sashimi and more; I'd say that almost every entree choice from the dinner set menu is available as an a la carte selection as well. The food quality is always top notch, and I would say they're amongst the best Japanese restaurants on Oahu in terms of bang for the buck. You could easily pay more for this qualify of food, but there are few places in this place range that are as good.

An authentic Japanese meal. My family came here for lunch one day. It's a great spot for a nice lunch that won't break the bank. It's hard to find good Japanese food around these days. I love how their lunch sets come with your choice of rice, a bunch of other little dishes, and even your choice of 2 daily sides. I chose the agedashi tofu and renkon kinpira (simmered lotus root). The multigrain rice was really delicious and I scored an extra chawanmushi from my mom.I ordered the crab cream croquette set, which came with a mini salad, pickles, chawanmushi, rice, miso soup and the 2 sides. There were quite a few croquettes and they have a delicate crunch to them. The flavor was a bit mild, but that's also Japanese style. All of the sides were good. I love the variety of textures and flavors you get with your one lunch set.The restaurant is pretty sizable, very bright and clean, and the service is pleasant and efficient.
