The food here reminds me of the old Diner's Drive Inn food. I love the food from here as they have many good choices to choose from. Plus, they add new food choices every now and then. The service is fast and friendly. The ambiance is casual inside as I ate there once. I always use the drive thru as it's the fastest way to get your food when you are on the road and in a rush for breakfast, lunch or dinner. The prices is really reasonable and they give a lot of food. If they have something new on the menu and the picture looks good. I will try it.

Been a couple years since I ate here. Ownership change affected the taste of the food I was used to and I decided not to eat here. The change in the Mac salad was critical to me. However I noticed from some recent pics that the salad looked a little different from what I had experienced. So I decided to give it another try. Ordered a Chili Dog plate and was pleasantly surprised. The salad was okay and I ended up eating it all. Chili was on point along with dogs but the rice was the freshest I have had in a long time from any drive in. I will return to try my other favorites soon. 4% for credit cards is a little high but it is what it is.

Richie's Drive Inn is a historic restaurant in the Kalihi area of Honolulu. Been in service since the 1980's and known for their affordable prices and food selection. I've personally gone to Richie's throughout the years and enjoyed myself each time. I've tried different plate lunch options such as Chili and Boneless Chicken, Pork Chop Loco Moco, Mushroom Chicken, and French fries. One of the few places that serves Green River slushies. All are excellent choices. The dine-in experience is great, as it's a place to order/eat without anyone bothering you. If you're a fan of an old school (1980's/1990's) diner experience, with a crane claw machine, I recommend Richie's. And it was announced that they recently brought back the 1980's original brown gravy and Mac Salad. Open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Give them a try!

What can I say about Richie's Drive located on King St. Right across from American T-shirt company. I believe this the only drive thru plate lunch place for convenience.I ordered their famous Boneless chicken with gravy . Can't go wrong with the Boneless chicken although looks like the portion got a little smaller lol. Back in the day the plate was fuller. They still have that old order board which you can hardly hear the order taker it's all muffled. Also when they raised the prices they use painter tape for the new prices so ghetto .Ghetto or not it's still a go to place with a good selection plate lunches with price is not bad .Support local

Richie's Drive Inn is an absolute gem for plate lunches! The food is consistently *ono*, and I've never had a bad meal here. Their menu has a great variety, including Filipino favorites like the pork adobo, which was tender, flavorful, and absolutely delicious. The plate lunches are the real star--fried pork, chicken, and beef stew are all cooked perfectly, and the gravy they serve is rich and comforting. Their mac salad deserves a special mention too--creamy, flavorful, and the perfect companion to the mains. What sets Richie's apart for me is its authenticity and local vibe. It's a spot frequented by locals, and I'd even say it's better than Rainbow Drive-In. If you're in the mood for hearty, satisfying comfort food, Richie's is the place to go. Highly recommended!

Popped in for a quick lunch.....and sort of let down. The food was good.....but they were my favorite teri beef/pork plate and favorite Mac salad. Not sure if today they were just off, but it was great as I remember. The Teri beef was dry and almost beef Jerky in some areas......the grisly part that I love was softer and more to what I remember......but that was a tiny piece of the whole thing. The Mac salad was different today, not as creamy as I remember and now has a slight pink/red tinge to it. I did try the shoyu meatballs for the first time and this was the highlight today. It's your homey mealy type meatball with a nice sweet shoyu type gravy. Overall still a good lunch....and just hoping today was an off day. The aunties working, are the same I remember and polite.

Well, I was heading back to the mainland and needed to eat something before going to the airport. Richie's was open and on my list to try. I have read varying reviews about it not being like "back in the day" but I had to try the boneless chicken. They had a two item combo for $11.99 which is a bargain right now. I ordered the boneless and shoyu. I should've just ordered double boneless because that gravy was soooooo good! The woman working behind the counter was cheerful and friendly and I was one of two people eating inside. I really liked what I ordered and should've told them for "gravy on rice." The mac was good too! This is my first time experience and I do wish I would've came when the original owners were there. But for myself, this really hit the spot and was tasty!Mahalo Richie!

I recently stopped by Richie's Drive-In for dinner after finding our first choice closed. We opted for the drive-thru, expecting a quick and efficient experience. While the service was fairly fast, the audio quality at the speaker was terrible. It was extremely muffled, making it hard to understand the person taking our order. This left us unsure if our order would be correct when we reached the window.I ordered the beef stew, which is my go-to comfort food. The portion sizes were average for the price, which was reasonable. The flavor of the stew was good, but the meat was a bit tough, which was disappointing. Overall, the meal was just okay. Given the lackluster experience, I'm not sure if I would return. It was a pretty "meh" experience overall.
