I'm all about military support being an active duty family, but I also think that things should be kept up for the benefit of active duty members, but Richardson Theatre fails.I was thrilled to attend a conference held there and sponsored by Tripler Army Clinic, since I had no reason previously to be on that base, but at first glance it was pretty great. The theatre itself looks old but somewhat trendy from the outside, but one you go inside, it's delapidated and sorely in need of some basic upkeep. Particularly in the seats, looking up all you see is vents covered in dust, soot and dirt, really gross.Worst of all, the bathrooms are in a condition that rivals some of the worst I've ever seen. Doors literally hanging off their hinges, toilets leaking water from the gaskets at the floor, and sinks spewing water in every direction but down...There is little in this world that would inspire me to return to this facility.

The theater is still in use for Army training and various community meetings, but sadly not for the shows and plays. The individual who kept this place running (for the community theater) retired and the energy to keep the placing running retired with her. Maybe we'll see a come back of this theater someday??

recently saw ZOMBIE PROM here and the show was great.being that this theater is on a military base, you have to get there a little early b/c as you enter the base, you'll be stopped and redirected. first you stop at the guard post, then the guard tells you to stop and get a pass from some other dude, then that guy asks for all your info and paperwork, asks you some questions, and then sends you on your way. then, you have to find the theater - which isnt hard to find. its a large pink building, so its pretty easy to spot.the theater seats over 800 people, the isles are wide-enough, and the seats are comfortable. the staff is friendly and accommodating.they sell some refreshments and snacks and the restrooms are clean. the sound system in the theater is good, minus a few microphone mishaps. other than that, nice theater.
