I've read about Ramen Bario a few times online, usually described as a chain from Japan that landed in the Ala Moana mall with a reputation for richer, bolder flavors than your standard bowl of ramen. The stall is tucked into the food court, which generally means service is quick and seating is whatever you can find. The staff was efficient, moving the line quickly and handing over our steaming bowls in what felt like minutesWe both got the Bario Ramen, and those noodles are unlike what you'd expect from a classic tonkotsu or shoyu ramen bowl. They're thicker and chewier, almost bordering on udon territory, and I'm not surprised they divide opinions. I'm more comfortable with thinner, springy noodles, but my girlfriend was instantly hooked on this unique texture. Where we definitely agreed, though, was on the broth, which was luxuriously savory and coated your tongue with depth and warmth that's not easy to find. The char siu melted in our mouths, perfectly seasoned, and the egg's yolk was a velvety dream

Decent food that is overpriced but par for the course since this is in a strip mall in a tourist trap area. The service was decent. The lady at the counter was helpful. English isn't her first language but she was able and helpful in answering my question about the difference between spicy Bario ramen and spicy tonkotsu ramen. There's three categories of ramen here. 1) Bario spicy ramen, 2) tonkotsu spicy ramen, and 3) spicy tsukemen. The difference between #1 and #2, is that #1 is made with soy sauce and thick noodles, #2 is made with thin ramen noodles and without soy sauce. #3 is a dipping ramen category.I had the bario spicy ramen with #2 level of spiciness. It had thick (al dente) noodles, chashu (pork belly), and bean sprouts. The spice level was good in that it didn't overpower or mask the flavors of everything else in the bowl. Aside from the impact of the spiciness, everything else was unremarkable. The pork belly was flavorless and had a strange texture to it as if it were cooked another day, frozen, and then unfrozen the day it got cooked. The bean sprouts were neutral also so the only flavor was from the peppers, and slight garlicky and buttery flavor of the pork broth. There was a dollop of mashed peppers that I swirled in to disperse the spice. It didn't come across as salty so that was a positive. Other than these, I'd say it was just alright. I think the prices at this place reflect a sit down ramen eatery, which it is not. It is a take-out joint. The bowls are small, and the broth is meager - just look at the pics. The prices may deter me from coming back seeing that you can get more bang for your buck at other eateries in the food court. However, if you want ramen, in my opinion this place is better than the other only ramen spot (Naniwa-Ya) in the food court because the broth is much better, unless you go to Gomatei a few doors down outside the food court.

Not bad ramen in the Ala Moana SC Food Court.Has a regular sized Tonkotsu Egg Ramen and it was okay. Flavorful garlicy and mushroomy broth, firm noodles, softboiled egg , and with black fungus. I was hungry and it all disappeared in under 10 min! The people were efficient, gave me a buzzer and within 3-4 minutes, it was ready! Wish all places were fast like this! For the value, I'll give it a solid 3 1/2 stars , and would eat here again.

3.5/5We came here on a Monday evening, and there was no line. Ramen bario was highly recommended to me by my host. Food also came out pretty quickly. We ordered #1, ramen bario plus extra noodles. It was ~20 bucks. Visually, it honestly didn't look very appealing. The noodles didn't look like your typical ramen, but they really didn't skimp when I ordered extra! The broth was definitely pretty fatty and flavorful. It was yummy, but I don't think I'd go out of my way to try it.

The service here is the worst place I even been in Hawaii, and the food health is concerned.

This place is my new ramen jam at the mall. I usually get the bario spicy ramen and it is really good. it has nice heat but wont melt your face off. They have a large menu so sometimes it is hard to choose what to get. If you do take out they pack the soup and noodles separate so the noodles dont get soggy. This is a great ramen option at the mall.

This place got a real hardy ramen. Definitely more of a fatty garlicky broth. I love the thicker noodles they use! I would rate this ramen an 8.5/10. Lots of bean sprouts. The food came out pretty quick and service is great. They give kamaaina discount too.

I decided to try this place because my friend said it was absolutely amazing. She had tried the Waikiki location and I thought the Ala Moana location would be the same. I ordered the spicy tsukemen since it was a popular item on the menu. The lady working in the front was not too friendly.REMINDER: 15% OF FOR LOCALS WITH AN IDI appreciated the discount for kamaaina since this place is a tad bit pricey. I waited about 5 minutes for my order and all of their food comes in to go containers. The dip was warm and the noodles were a little hard. I was surprised that this was what my friend was raving about. I want to give this restaurant another chance so when I'm in Waikiki, I'll stop by that location. As for the Ala Moana location, I would not recommend.

Mediocre. Place nickels and dimes you for things that normally come standard with a ramen meal. Asked for something to make my ramen more spicy as it was way too plain. She wanted to charge for the chili, but refused to take a card because it was too small of an amount. There are better options in this mall for ramen.
