A little bit of ocean right in the midst here in Aulani...Not only can you get a free peek of the fishes though some windows located right across Lava Shack you can actually take a dip along with the fishes for the day or your length of stay though the hours here are short 10am to 3pm so plan your experience accordingly your day pass does allow you to enter and exit as you like as for the day it's $25 for adults and $20 for keiki and for your length of stay it's $45 for adults and $35 for keiki. It is a fun option without packing it all up and voyaging out to the beach this fun and cool place makes exploring something new a breeze as everything here is contained to snorkel and explore nothing like I've ever seen and it's Aulani of course.Thank you!

I think it would be amazing to do a Discover Scuba in this little man-made aquarium-reef. There are no waves. There are so many fish. It's clear and beautiful and there is a viewing area. This reef may seem small but it's big enough to have a really nice time snorkeling (though the water was colder than the open ocean). This will take less of your day than a snorkeling or scuba tour and it costs less. Even your kids can do it! Highly recommend.

Rainbow Reef is perfect for those who are afraid of snorkeling in the ocean. It's not too deep and you're guaranteed to see many different types of fish. There was a lifeguard who watched closely so it felt completely safe. I paid for a one day admission and was able to go as many times as I wanted that day. All I had to do was show my Aulani guest wristband with a little hole punched in the shape of a fish. There is a rinse off area before entering the water and I was able to use my own snorkel mask.

So cool to be able to swim with different kinds of fish. The water is absolutely freezing so hopefully it's a warm day when you try this. It's definitely worth the money. I'd do it again when I go back to Aulani!

Each time we stay here for a stayca, my daughter and her friends come here to swim with the fishes. It is a nice little area for kids and adults. It is best that you pay for the entire stay rather than a 1 day pass. This way, you can visit multiple times- it is fun to be there when they feed the fish. :)No kicking or excessive splashing! Shower prior to entering. Excellent for kids who are afraid of the open ocean.

It must have been an amazing experience to swim with the various species of fish. It is unquestionably valuable for the price. When I go back to Aulani, you can count on me to do it again!

Located at Aulani, Disney's resort and Spa, this is perfect for kids who are afraid of sharks, waves, sharp coral, vana, and other unpredictable things that you might come across out in the open sea. There might even be a hidden Mickey in the reef! They provide inflatable life vests that help keep your body horizontal, and the mask/snorkel to help you see the fish. My daughter just used her goggles because she felt more comfortable just breathing above water instead of through the snorkel. So the rules are that you have to use your hands to move (and not your legs) but my daughter was holding onto one of my hands for dear life and I had the gopro in the other hand so I had to use my legs but they don't really want you splashing and kicking your legs. The water is cold, about 10 degrees colder than Lazy River, so it's probably best to go in the late afternoon. I've done this twice. The first time was a few years ago and we lasted all of 3 minutes because it was too cold for my son, and that's the only thing he remembers, so he didn't even want to go this time. This time I took my daughter in the late afternoon at 4pm and we had the entire reef to ourselves. The reef closes at 5pm but after about 30 minutes she had seen enough. It was her first time swimming with real fish and she loved it. However, she did not want to let go of my hand even though she had the aqualung life vest on and can swim in all the other pools by herself. Something about the fish added a new dimension to this swimming adventure for her. COST: $15 adult, $10 all day in/out privileges, you can also pay a little bit more for an entire length of stay in/out privileges. No reservations needed, just walk up to the check in desk and they'll charge it to your room.Is this like the real thing? Of course not. You are at a Disney resort, and everything here has a little bit of make believe. Isn't that why you come here in the first place?

I loved this place. I love snorkeling in the ocean but this is a great place to go with your kids to prepare them for snorkeling in the ocean. The water's a bit chilly and you have to rinse off prior to going in the reef. You also have to rent the actual gear (snorkel & life vest) prior to going in. I chose to select to rent out the vest/snorkel for the length of our stay because it made more sense economically. You can also use the snorkel gear at the beach. My son absolutely loved it here but he was a bit scared to put his little head in under water. Still, it was a great place to prepare him for our snorkel & sail trip on a catamaran later that week. We went in this place several times a day during our trip because it was so much fun. Go during fish feeding times. During our visit, it was at 10:30 am and 1:30 pm. It was awesome to feed the fish and have them come closer to you. They had a photographer there, named Bob, who was amazing! We have several pics which I will cherish forever. The lifeguards kept commenting on how much my son was laughing and that no other kiddos laugh as much as he does. I had a great time and definitely recommend this place. So much fun! They also have 2 lifeguards, one in the reef and one right outside which is great! Highly, highly recommend.

I love the rainbow reef. If I could I would be in here every single day of my life. We come to this resort every year and I am getting to know all of the people that work at the rainbow reef now. Everybody is really friendly and willing to answer any questions. I usually go in a couple times a day I try to go during the feeding time because all the fish will swarm at you and it's a lot of fun. My goal every time I come here is to find my humuhumunukunukuapuaa Fish which is my favorite fish. There is only one and he flutters around the pool and likes to hide in the rocks so I make it a point to look for him every time. Sometimes I don't see him then when I get out of the pool and walk toward the viewing window he comes to the window and flutters in front of me probably laughing. Anyways if you decide to do this for two days it's worth it to get the length of stay pass I definitely recommend that. also when you get the length of stay pass they will stamp your room key and wristbands with the cute little Mickey Mouse punch. Anyways I love this place I just wish they were more than one of my favorite fish LOL One thing I do wish the cast members would do is control the guests a little more. I am told that when I am in the pool we are not allowed to stand on the coral or swim while kicking your feet I was told we were supposed to use our arms to slowly glide around the pool. I see people stepping on the coral all the time and kicking fish with their feet which kind of annoys me. Just saying...But I still love this place. Five stars!
