Rainbow Drive-In

Shoyu chicken stole the show! Chicken soTender it fell Right off The bone! Literally. Flavor was good too! Not overpowering. Loved the Mac too! Loco moco was lacking flavor to me. Meat was a little dry even with gravy over it.

Boneless chicken had good texture but was bland. Mac salad was sour. Loco moco was decent.Strawberry slush with ice cream was good.

Still kinda a go-to local place to eat...but sadly a victim to both "touristy overpopulation" and "shrinkflation". Prices go up, portions go down, and tourist don't care because they are here spending a lot of money on a vacation anyways. I wish we had the Rainbows from like 10 years ago. But I get it. Gotta change with the times. Just wish they had gone more local and Les for the tourism cash grab. But, like I said, still some good local plate lunch stuffs here. The food was never really the problem.

Perfect for a quick breakfast. Affordable for a big plate . I would recommend sharing if you can't eat too much

It was a little tricky getting to it because of some construction on the road (I think that won't be an issue much longer) but totally worth making the effort. The portions are generous; a great value for the money and for a happy belly. Had the Loco Moco (good for a baseline) and the Mix Plate with gravy and sat at the lit outdoor tables to eat. There was a tasty, finely-shredded cole slaw (?) under the meats in the Mix Plate. Could have had that as a larger side, it was a hidden gem. Food came out decently quick given how busy they were. There's a cute shop with branded and some general Hawaii-themed items (bought a shopping bag) but forgot to snap any pics because I was distracted by food.

After many visits to Waikiki we finally decided to check out the tourist hot spot. The food was okay and your typical plate lunch, bit on the greasier side than usual.

My wife and I came back here on a friends' trip.Food was slightly worse, service was the same, not as bad as previous, but the young man taking our order literally said nothing. Who do they employ here and what kind of experience do you need?Tourist trap, most definitely. Try to stay away.

Eating here is a must whenever Im in town! Everytime I come here I order my usual, loco moco. The restaurant is always busy so theres always a bit of a wait time, but its so worth it. Such a simple meal but nothing beats comfort food and vibes.

Stopped by here after a busy day exploring the island. This was a great fast, easy, food find. We got the last mix plate and chicken with gravy plate as we came by as they were closing. Really good affordable eats!

Stopped by since it's a must-go and historic, but left feeling like there were other places I'd prefer to go for a lunch plate in the area. We had the mixed plate to try a bit of everything - it comes with BBQ beef (probably the best of the 3 proteins), chicken, and mahi mahi; definitely make sure you get the gravy otherwise it would be a bit dry. The portion size was good for sharing, but the flavors felt bland the food wasn't the warmest.
