Relaxing uncrowded family atmosphere when I visited, worth the long rush hour drive if you can, nice sunset in December.

Nice and clean beach. I would say above average because of it's amenities. Large grassy area, bathrooms and showers, picnic tables, lots of parking, etc. Very few people so it's quite peaceful. The only disappointment is the beach's close proximity to a shooting range, so if you're annoyed by constant fire crackers going off, then this beach might not be for you. I had ear buds in so wasn't too much of an issue. Enjoy the beach!

Pu'uloa is in Ewa and honestly it's not a bad beach. It's only a ten minute drive from my sister's house, so it's a good option if we just want to chill at the beach, but don't want to make a whole day of it and drive 45 minutes to a more popular beach. You get to avoid all of the beach/city traffic, and all of the tourists (even though I am one myself). There was pretty much no one around on a Tuesday at around 10. Plus you get a view of Diamondhead waaaaaay in the distance. The sand is okay. It's not Kailua/Lanikai soft but definitely a lot cleaner than Waikiki. The water is not really good for swimming since there is a lot of coral out in front. Even with the coral, the waves are pretty rough. Not my first option for a beach on O'ahu but if you live nearby, this requires minimal effort. There's also bathroom facilities, basketball courts, and plenty of parking.

Today was my 1st time to Pu'uloa Beach park. It's located at the very end of Fort Weaver road. I actually thought I was lost. If you come to the end where it's says gate is closed. Just look to your right. Life More Abundantly Island Church (LMAIC) held a church picnic under the pavilion. It is such a beautiful place. We opened in praise and worship along with Prayer. Minister Curtis invited all on the beach to come join us. It was truly a church without wall. Music, Food, Games & Fellowship. The breeze is ever so inviting. The view of Honolulu & Diamond Head is priceless. You wouldn't even see if unless you were down at the water. Yes, I had to go down and test the water. The water was warmer on this side of the island. Pu'uloa is very spacious. Another treat was seeing the Hawaiian Airlines planes flying in overhead. They're so close it's almost scary and exciting at the same time. The little ones loved watching them fly over slowly. There were so many families just enjoying themselves on the beach. Just celebrating this thing we call life with loved ones. Hopefully, you'll run into us on the beach

There is nothing not to like about this great little beach park at the end of Fort Weaver Rd. Great views of Diamond Head and the city, long stretches of white sandy beach, large grass field, big gazebo, basketball court, plenty of parking, and bathrooms. It's never very busy, even when families are enjoying occasions there and have jump houses set up. Best of all, it's a 10 minute drive for me to enjoy the sand and sea. Bonus: it's a great place to watch planes taking off and landing at HNL ... and know that my "vacation" is never ending!

Only giving it 4 stars because I've injured myself in the last two visits due to the reef/rocks being right on the shoreline. I bought reef shoes the second visit, after my feet got cut up on the first, but then my legs got cut up. It's probably the best beach because of the waves if it weren't for what's below. You can see some of the reef, but a lot of it is masked by the sand/water. I'm going to go again, but I'll probably wear pants if I'm swimming!

Had my son's first birthday party over here and it was perfect. Maybe it was because it was Memorial Day weekened for graduation, but the park wasn't as packed as usual the day we went. Had lots of parking, even on the street if the lot gets full. Got a permit for free as I had under 100 people (at a time as they came and went), you might not need a permit, but they only give out 2 for that park a day. Set up a Sesame Street bouncy house, easy corner, tables, chairs, shave ice machine, cotton candy, balloon man, pinata, poke, roast pork, char siu, duck, poi, kalua pig, long rice, squid luau, lomi salmon, pineapple, haulolo, cake, etc. Alcohol was also flowing, just put it in a cup. Was good fun with the big field as well. My family even bought a football and an inlaw was showing me the skills of a former Kalani QB. Granted Kalani wasn't the best for football, but he was bombing it ~65 yards to my nephews. Beach isn't as crowded as Waiks as well. They also got a covered pavilion which is first come first serve.
