The bad reviews are rubbish. These folks are well loved members of the community NEVER heard anyone who goes here daily day anything negative. Favorite store of all the ones nearby. Family owned, fair prices, open an hour later than the other stores. Valued and much loved family and they deal with plenty of riff raff yet always have a smile if you are polite and decent. Great assortment of alcohol. The buyer knows what he is doing and they have unique stuff you won't see elsewhere in town.

Horrible. We purchased an over priced 2002 California cabernet, brought it back to our room and the cork was disintergrated and rotton. Waste of $$

This little cubbyhole of a store is so jam-packed with bottles, you can hardly walk through it without brushing up against a shelf or knocking into something.Caveat emptor: better prices are to be found at the ABC Store for Kula rum and most other ordinary bottles, but this store has unusual items and just about anything else that the ABC lacks.I looked all throughout the store to find the Kula dark rum. After about 10 minutes of searching, the proprietor lady finally calls out, "what you need?" from behind the counter in a faintly frosty tone. When I replied, "Kula Rum" she looked at me like I was crazy. "Kula?"So, using my hands to indicate a space about 10 inches high, I said, "you know, it's a bottle about this tall with a round glass ball on top."Now smiling, she simply said, "oh, okay, yeah." Then, saying nothing else, she pointed three times with her finger, in three different directions, to indicate that I needed to walk down the first aisle, then turn left, and then look on the floor in the far corner.Bingo! There it was, sitting next to its sister bottle of Kula Toasted Coconut rum.If you love a treasure hunt, you'll love this place. But check your liability insurance policy before entering, in case you inadvertently knock something over. Plus-sized people should beware navigating this space!

OK, so: mentally picture a library, but like, not a library that's well organized or even one with proper shelves, but maybe more like a library of a book hoarder who could really stand to invest in some sturdy shelving and extra space. Now, imagine that all the books strewn about in this library range from recent magazines put out yesterday to first edition Gutenberg bibles. Oh, and there's no card catalog either, just a wizened librarian who happens to know where everything is and will happily point you in the general direction of where the thing is.That's Posh. It looks like hell on the outside (especially compared to that sparkle-fresh ABC on the far corner) but inside is what counts, and in this case Posh's inside is chock-a-block with wines and liquors from all over, really nice wines and liquors that you're not going to find on the ABC shelves. A direct example: last time I was there we stopped in on a whim, to see if they had anything by the now-defunct Maui distillers, and they absolutely did (related: Posh might no longer have any bottles of Maui's fancy flower liquor because I might have bought it all).So yes: probably the most convenient, accessible, and certainly the best-stocked liquor store in the lower-half of Waikiki.

This place is so crowded with items, I'm surprised someone hasn't reported them for an unsafe store front. There is hardly any place to walk and you'll be squeezing yourself through some tough spaces if you want to get past the front door. I went there recently and I will never go back again. This store is a giant mess of things. The lady working the cash register was rude and asked inappropriate questions. She made a mess while getting the item I requested and just left it there. Ack! The items in the store are 2-3x the price you're used to paying. They're stacked up to the ceiling like Ollivander's Wand Shop, except this is filled with liquor. If you're claustrophobic, don't go here. If you like good customer service, don't go here. If you like a clean, roomy store with bright lights, don't go here!

Let's be clear: I'm giving this one 5* on the basis of being an experienced drinker who had a lot of fun in this slightly insane bottle shop. It's a tiny place, made tinier by the huge number of bottles strewn around the floor - stock keeping here is basically "let's put all the SKUs somewhere near where their label is". The lady didn't speak much English and her advice was haphazard and counter-productive. For example: the Smith & Cross Jamaican rum she said was "very common" and "bad value for money" was selling at 1/3 less than the UK online price, not to mention it is a legend amongst both cocktail circles and rum fanatics (see for example the Whisky Exchange user reviews). Whereas the Neisson "on sale" was 1/3 more than the French price (let alone Antilles). The organisation is best described as "what?". I was looking for rye whiskey and found Old Overholt, Masterson's and RI as well as the usual like Jim Beam. Problem: none of them were on the same shelf. The Old Overholt was hidden behind a bottle of rum, the Masterson's sat proudly above the vodka, the RI was hidden behind and next to JM VSOP rum boxes, and the Jim Beam (the worst of the lot as far as I'm concerned)? behind the counter with the super premium brandy! Yes, "what?". The Smith & Cross really didn't want to be sold - it was at the end of the whisky shelf next to a boxed Zaya. And this is what makes this shop super fun. You have to dig, you have to know what you are doing and looking for, what the market rates are. You spot bottles in the dark and musty room whilst trying not to knock anything over based on their shape, since you can't read the label - then you stretch over in impossible positions to figure out what the price is.The crowd was eclectic - ranging from a 1920s London style waxed-moustache hipster with eyes like saucers who ranted for minutes about the wormwood in Absente (he clearly sampled something else before his shopping), to some chaps who wouldn't be out of place in a hip hop video, complete with massive chains although they took off their "shades" since it really is quite dark in there. The selection is really strange. It's a mix of things that target very different markets, from hipsters to connaisseurs to the club scene lapping up flavored vodkas. But there's not much in the way of local spirits - no Koloa rum here, for example, nor Sammy's Beach Bar, despite the strong rhum agricole presence. I have given up trying to understand how this can happen. Would love to have had more time but with the in-laws waiting impatiently a block away...
