I started purchasing my pound of fresh poi from taro flown in from Kauai. You can catch them at Kaneohe Farmers Market at the Windward Mall, Sunday's. I buy my poi before heading to Waiahole Poi Factory. It's is reasonable price versus regular supermarkets which is outrageous and unaffordable at $9.99 to $14.99. I'm growing my own hopefully get a potato size Lehua Taro...Lol!They have Kulolo, Ulu poi, desserts that go fast (Lilikoi, guava) and reasonable. You should check them out! There are other items that can be added like hot sauces....regular, Lilikoi, and guava. Of course, everywhere must wear your masks....short review! Be safe everyone...Ciao!

Kulolo at Windward Mall Farmers' Market in Kaneohe, Oahu, Hawaii...I was actually just looking for veggies for dinner when I passed by a vendor that caught my attention. Pomai KuloloWhat's kulolo? It's like a delicious Hawaiian mochi made from grated taro and coconut milk. I've seen taro being grated - it's labor intensive! So - I appreciate all of the hard work that goes into making kulolo.I approached the nice lady under her outdoor canopy to ask about her display. She explained that the kulolo is $6 and the other items (lilikoi haupia, guava haupia, and haulolo) are 3 for $10. The guava glaze and Passionfruit glaze on the haupia (like a coconut milk jello) were intriguing. I wanted to try them all, so she gave me a deal - all 4 items for $15! Whoa! Thanks! When i got home, i immediately tasted them all! Yummy goodness! Mmm!Can't wait to go back and get more of these unique treats!

Been craving Kulolo for a while & I'm so happy that they came on this side of the island (Ewa/Kapolei) (: the first time we purchased kulolo from them was at the Waianae farmers market a while ago & haven't been able to make it down there due to our busy schedule. I'd definitely recommend them to anyone craving poi, kulolo, haulolo & even their fish! Today was the first time we got fish from them & we was not disappointed! Everything was fresh as ALWAYS. **Follow them on Facebook & instagram so you can be updated with their location & time (: you won't be disappointed**

SUCH GOOD FOOD!They had catered a party I went to over Christmas break, and it was amazing! I'm not an expert on Hawaiian food, but I love to eat good food when I taste it. They served shredded pork, a purple sweet potato, squid luau(?), a fish "pico de gallo" tomato dish (don't remember the name, but YUM!), rice, clear glass noodles, fresh pineapple, and poi. And a delicious jello-like dessert. My mouth is watering right now as I type this review. Please serve this for your next party...and invite me over!

I decided to try this new vendor at the April's Eat the Street event on South Street. Although there was no line, they were giving out samples of their Haupia/Kulolo ("Haulolo") dessert.Haulolo - 3 stars - it was ok, but they use canned coconut milk, so it doesn't taste as fresh as Yama's Fish Market. I don't really care for the Kulolo though. I think it's an acquired taste, plus it wasn't cold since it was on the table and not in a cooler.Pork (but since the ETS theme bacon, they also used bacon) Laulau - 5 stars - Very reasonable for a $6 plate of a laulau and rice at the Eat the Street event. I wasn't super hungry, so this laulau hit the spot. The leaves were as fresh as it could be with a nice smoke flavor to it. The sweet potato was also cooked just right and very fresh, and not too big of a slab of meat to make this a nice lite dinner. I'd definitely order this again. The staff was very friendly and nice. I then saw them selling their haupia and Haulolo dessert at the Home and Garden show at the NBC, but I am craving for their laulau!

I came across Pomai Kulolo at the farmer's market held at Fort Street Mall in downtown Honolulu. I love this Kulolo. It's nice and moist and just pure yummy!!! There were two sizes, a small one and a large one. The smaller size is $6 and the bigger size I think was $10. I've been searching various markets to buy more but I can't find it. Supposedly, Times Supermarket carries it sometimes but I have seen any recently. Next time I find some I will be stocking up! Try this Kulolo. It's super good!

I asked at the market 2 days ago, "how long will it keep?", 5 days they told me... in the fridge. But we'll never know. I doubt it ever makes it that long in my house. So YUMMY

PRODUCTS: $6 EACH- Haupia (coconut dessert w/similar consistency to Jello)- Kulolo (ancient Hawaiian dessert; presently, it's made w/ kalo [taro], coconut milk + sugar) - has a thicker texture, and, although da buggah looks small, it can be quite filling. Sweet flavor that's not too overwhelming.- Haulolo (bottom has thin kulolo layer, top has thicker haupia layer) - Poi (cooked corm of the kalo plant that is mashed up + water is added to reach desired viscosity) - subtle and mildly sweet. As local as I am, I never cared for eating poi, but the employee suggested some people like adding sugar to their poi. Came home, added Splenda, and now I can say I actually like eating poi. Half da container stay gone ;) * On Fri., I stopped by their Fort Street Mall location at 11:30 AM + I got a great deal: choose any 4 products for $20!WEA DEY STAY?Sun - Leeward Farmers Market (FM), Windward Mall FMMon - CLOSEDTues - Fort Street Mall Open MarketWed - Windward Mall FMThurs - Kapolei High FMFri - Fort Street Mall Open MarketSat - Pearlridge Mall FM, Wai'anae FM* Subject to change. Refer to their schedule on their website for up-to-date info: http://pomaikulolo.com/where-to-buy** Found at Eat the Street events, too!CASH ONLY!No other payment method accepted.FREE SAMPLES!Of any of their products, so just ask! No be shame!DO YOU KNOW HOW DIFFICULT IT IS TO FIND KULOLO ON O'AHU?!Foodland, Yama's, and Shirokiya (Ala Moana) occasionally have it, but usually you pay an arm and a leg (plus kidney and second unborn child) for a manini (small) piece ... and they usually run out. I haven't had good kulolo in years and immediately bought 3 of them, 1 of their poi, and 1 haupialolo. INTERESTING FACTS- You can freeze kulolo if you know you aren't going to eat it right away (like, within a day)! Same can be done with rice and mochi. When you're ready to eat it, you just have to nuke it in the microwave for a short period of time.- In ancient times, kulolo used to be cooked in an imu (underground oven heated with rocks) for 6-8 hours.- Founded in 2008, it's owned/operated by Keanuenue Kekaula who uses an 'ohana (family) recipe; when he originally started, he'd sell it by the side of the road at various locations around O'ahu.WEBSITEhttp://pomaikulolo.com/[email protected] #249
