Renovated park
Sunrise by da park today
The open field........looks like no one has been watering the field, as the grass is all dead! Aiyah!
The Restroom........don't come here at night, as I see some unsavory folks hanging around the restroom area.
Our yearly event. Might begin to put in Yelp events next year. We usually have 200-300 kids with their families.

"Petrie Park- an oasis in Kaimuki"Great little community park next to Waialae elementary school. They have outdoor tennis, volleyball and basketball courts and a nice grassy field for little league baseball games and practices. Like all facilities while still under pandemic restrictions, be sure to follow the protocols in effect at the time of your visit. The views from the upper part of the park on 20th Ave. are quite nice, especially during sunrise. During normal in-school class days, most of the street between the school and the park is closed. On the mauka side there is access to a couple of parking stalls for your use when using the park. An interesting side note is that the park's rec. bldg. next to the children's playground equipment area used to be an open pavillion that was one of the coolest places to sit. The tradewinds would roll through with a sweet breeze as you sat and kicked back to daydream during the lazy days of summer.

Located in the Kaimuki neighborhood, just across the street from Waialae Elementary School is a hidden treasure of a park!I will have to admit I have a soft spot for this park, as my friends & I use to hang out at this park during our Intermediate, errr............or should I say middle school dayz.I even played park league b-ball for Petrie park back in da dayz...........and if I can find da vintage pic, I'll post it for you folks, so you can get a good laugh! Buwahahahahaha!Petrie Community Park is not overly big, but it has a little of something for everyone (for all ages). Petrie park has several basketball courts, tennis courts, a volleyball court, a jungle gym for the kiddies, and a large field for kids to play soccer, baseball, as well as football. There are also several benches & picnic tables on the park premises, should you wanna eat there, or watch the kiddies. In my recent visits here, I could clearly see that the field could use some water, as the grass was pretty brown & dried up...........but of course summer is just around the corner, so I guess maybe the city is trying to save water? There is also a office pavilion, as well as a restroom at Petrie park, but be careful if you come here at night, as I saw some sketchy element hanging & loitering around the restroom area. There is no private parking lot for this park, but not to fret as there is a lot of street parking within the Kaimuki neighborhood.Through the years, not much has changed at this park since I used to hang here as a kid, but glad to see folks still bring kids here to enjoy this nice community park.

Courts were windy today but the courts are still nice to play on. Tons of people playing pickle ball and some people playing lawn bowling (?) on the soccer field.

Just went here on a whim. I was actually on my way to Kilauea Park but then I passed by this park. And as you know, I'm a park stalker. I look as I'm driving by to see how their playground is. I've been to Petrie park with my daughter before and she liked it but it was really old. The ground was all broken and could be a tripping hazard to little kids. The equipment wasn't in good shape either. Well, today, as I was passing, it looked liked they renovated the park. Woohoo! What a find! And no one was playing on the playground (umm probably because it was super muggy and hot). I took my crying daughter out of the car and showed her the park and just like magic, she immediately stopped crying. She loved the playground. She kept running around and going up and down the slides. She even went to the other side to try to bigger slides. She definitely had a great time and when it came to nap time, she walked me straight to her room. First time ever, usually it's a chasing battle to get her to her room to nap. Definitely going back to Petrie Park. I'm glad they made those much needed improvements.

This park is located across from Waialae School. Parking is on the street. Restrooms are clean. It is a great place to play on playground, play tennis, and play sports or do other things at grassy field area.On Sundays, we take the dog to this park so he can run around and sniff the area. I like the view from this park because you can see the beautiful blue ocean and feel a great breeze while chillaxing.

They've redone this park nicely in the past couple years. We aren't in this neighborhood much but was happy to go by today and see that it's been redone. It wasn't crowded and it was clean. Hope to come back sometime soon. :)

Daughter had vball practice here and we were impressed with the keiki playground, the open area, and the views. Playground is perfect for our 3 year old son, and the space for running around is huge. Alot of Parking was available on 20th ave and there are benches and shaded areas. My wife wants to comeback cause she feels it's one of the better playgrounds around. We'll probably make a picnic out of it too.

As much as I love this park, and the ability to walk my dog there in the early evening, the sheer number of people letting their dogs run free, off leash is amazing. Last month my dog was attacked twice by off-leashed dogs, and this evening there was actually a woman in the bathroom while her dogs were running around the park unattended. When I confronted her about it she called me all kinds of names and pointed out the fact that I wasn't wearing a badge. It's rampant, and the very idea that no one will take account for their dogs is inexcusable. Time to go elsewhere.

They remodeled this park and now its great again! just wish there was a little bit more shade, cus it's gets really hot. The only shaded area is also usually very muddy. But my kids love it here. Nice breeze most days

My daughter is a playground junkie! Sad but true, her Daddy and I are enablers and bring her to one of a few playgrounds in the neighborhood almost every day. But hey...we like to bring her up "old school" style. I used to play outdoors for hours every day as a kid. Something you rarely see nowadays with kids infatuated with playing their Xbox, Playstations, Nintendo DS etc.Petrie Community Park isn't as crowded as some of the other playgrounds in Kahala. There's a lot of times that my daughter is the only one playing there when we go.There's a couple of slides to choose from, and lots of places to climb. Two important requirements for a playground according to my daughter.Warning for parents with toddlers on the short petite side like my little one. There's a few spots on the playground where I always make sure I'm spotting her. Some of the climbing areas are taller than other playgrounds we go to, and the distance from the ladder to the platform is too far for her to reach by herself. There's also one slide that is crazy slippery and she almost always lands on her okole. Thank heavens for padded playgrounds. Where was that when we were growing up right? I still have a few scars on my knees to remember! LOCATION: Petrie Community Park is located next to Waialae Elementary School. PARKING: Depending upon the day and time you visit, you should be able to find somewhere to park on the street in front of the playground, or across the street by the school.PICTURES UPLOADED:http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/petrie-community-park-honolulu?select=4Kgrps_JuB_I78sS-Zbu4g#_7b5lttZQ3NUdbJ4IA3oAghttp://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/petrie-community-park-honolulu?select=4Kgrps_JuB_I78sS-Zbu4g#rjxFma31sM5PVp6mIwKImghttp://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/petrie-community-park-honolulu?select=4Kgrps_JuB_I78sS-Zbu4g#5OdMAqPcO9Tuc_jIoqYLHwhttp://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/petrie-community-park-honolulu?select=4Kgrps_JuB_I78sS-Zbu4g#4Kgrps_JuB_I78sS-Zbu4g
