The Pearlridge monorail is located in the Pearlridge Center which is the second largest shopping center in Hawaii located in Aiea. It's a fun little train ride especially if you have younger children. It conveniently travels between Pearlridge "uptown" and "downtown". The rail cars are air conditioned which is a plus on a hot day. Not sure if it's true or not, but I heard that the monorail may be going away soon. Cost is one dollar each way.

The Pearlridge SkyCab is currently Hawaii's only monorail system. It runs back and forth all day transporting shoppers from Uptown to Downtown and vice-versa. While not a terribly long walk, the SkyCab is great for shoppers who have many kids in tow. The SkyCab features four separated compartments, each with its own AC unit. Each compartment can hold many people. It can seat about 6 to 8 people comfortably with two poles in the middle for the people standing to hold onto for balance. Rides used to go for $0.50 one way, but prices has risen to $1.00 per ride due to high electricity costs and lack of interest. Because the mall is split up into three parts, Pearlridge provides a service that takes shoppers from one side to the other via a security vehicle that seats about 10. Because this service is free of charge for the rider, many opt to go this way. However, these vehicles don't run on a schedule and have limited seats, so many will find themselves walking. Since there is a lack of interest in taking the SkyCab, riders who do choose this option may find that they have a cool, spacious cab all to themselves. When this happens, just sit back, relax, and enjoy the peacefulness of the moment.

It's our first time to try riding it with my daughter so I don't have any idea on where to pay the coins to after putting on a dollar. We were able to pass through the gate and I was thinking maybe we had to put the coins inside the rail and the next thing I heard of was a guy yelling over the intercom to embarass me and said that "you have to pay it is not free maam" when you could have politely said to put the coins in before you enter since he's freaking watching over a cctv instead of just watching me being so clueless in there. He said another word that I kinda dont remember but its about pay next time which is another embarassing moment instead of actually letting it pass since I already put the coin in. Now I would never even ride this rail again cause it's just too traumatic to be yelled at over something you can be educated in instead of being embarrassed of.
