Paniolos - Kailua

I came here for the first time today after hiking Lanikai pillbox. Considering we do not have chipotle on island, this is a fair alternative. I ordered the paniolos steak bowl. The portion size is definitely not as big as chipotle but the ingredients did seem very fresh. In my case, I was grateful that it was not a heavy portion. But I would say go here for the quality and freshness as opposed to the quantity because otherwise you may get a little disappointed. The only additive that was an extra charge was the guacamole but they loaded me up on corn and salsa, which is exactly what I wanted. The staff was friendly and despite the limited selection, my bowl only came out to $14 which is very well priced for a a healthy bowl in Hawaii and I enjoyed it thoroughly .It is a very casual joint, but I can see this as a good go to after a hike for a quick bite.

Expect to pay $25 for Burrito & Soda, I did ask for double meat but still $25 is just insane for a burrito & soda, I did not see them sprinkle it with gold so I don't know why it would be so expensive.. I asked for their grass fed signature beef, it was overcooked and had no taste... The ingredients tasted boring and were under-salted. If you're going to charge so much, at least make an effort to spice it up making it taste special instead of plain & boring.. Maybe the cooks just don't care, who knows ‍

DONT COME HERE, if you think you're getting something similar to Chipotle, either go to Moe's or get fast food.. I tried to give this place another chance & unfortunately I'm disappointed again. This place is the one of the most skimpiest places to eat. When you ask for more rice or toppings (I didn't ask for more protein) they make it seem like they are giving you a lot of it when they're not. I had to get 3 bowls so that my husband & I can be somewhat full.. for the price it's definitely not worth it. When you do ask for more they just give you slight push back. Mind you it's not like they are serving big spoonfuls to begin with, they just get one spoon of rice and lay it so flat in the bowl that there is barely anything in there.. I understand "portion control" however if someone is wanting more, just give them more even it's more $$$ that we're "willing to pay". Honestly I will NEVER come back and they won't have my business. The total of this meal was not worth it at all.

I got a bowl, brown rice, black beans, Tofu, lettuce,double tomato salsa. It was delicious, plenty of flavor and they did not skimp on the amount of food. The tofu picked up the flavors of the rest of my meal. They give you cups for water. I need the water due to the fact that it was a little spicy (but very good).

Found the chipotle of Hawaii finally where I can make my own burritos and salad bowls it's not bad for roughly $16! They have 3 types of base you can pick - white rice, brown rice or salad. 3 types of beans - pinto, black or refried. And then various proteins to choose from. You can top that w a variety of toppings (choose 2 of the 4 types of salsa they have) and guacamole is additional cost. Perfectly filling meal with the salad bowl plus chips. I love it and would definitely order again!

I always have a "bowl" every time...Located in the Kailua Shopping Center Paniolos is a great create your own or what they call "Design your own" Mexican food either in a form of Burrito, Bowl or Tacos and in three easy steps you got your designer meal woohoo!Love that they have Cilantro Lime Brown Rice which is my favorite and since I don't get beans they do offer to give you extra rice or what I do is some chopped romaine, you then choose your protein (which on this point determines the price) and on this visit it was grilled veggies which then is the toppings...cheese AND sour cream, salsa, jalapeños, lime, corn. Sometimes I get some chips and salsa to make it a deconstructed nachos but their bowl is quite massive so kept as is today.They do have a table and window bar seating on the inside and some tables outside as well so enjoying your meal is a nice and relaxing and their staff is just really nice and friendly I just love the vibe here.Thank you!

Had to come back for the best burritos on island. I recommend all their meats but the Kalua Pig is out of this world tasty. Easy parking, immediately served once we came in, and got to enjoy just outside at a table with relaxing ukulele music in the background. Thanks y'all for the fast and nice service, cheers!

Over priced burritos sold here it's depressing how this place plays with inflation $20 burrito and drink $20 so they can hold out on the meet it's more like a bean burrito with a side of meet With prices that high I won't be returning unfortunately you lost a local customerThis is greed in the form of inflationIf this is owned by Latinos you should be embarrassed over charging

We were eating at the Mexican restaurant next door last week and notice a constant flow of people walking in Paniolos...so we stopped by before we left the area to see what it was like...it was build your own bowl, burrito or salad! The restaurant itself is a little dark, but the ladies working were very nice. Music was a little loud and hard to hear what they were saying. But it was typical choice of rice or beans (the only negative is their is cilantro in the rice). 3 types of beans..then you pick if you want meat and veggies, but you can't add veggies to the meat choice, that's EXTRA. Then you can pick the toppings. They don't give you much so I had to ask for more cheese, more sour cream and of course more salsa but after 2 scoops it was EXTRA.The food was fresh and very tasty. I finished the entire bowl (minus the cilantro). I will be back!

My chicken burrito was awesome. My friend got a vegi burrito and he said it was his best ever. I recommend the guacamole
