Pai's Cafe has the best açaí bowl by far!We tried a few others, and the worst açaí bowl was at Aulani. Pai's was the best on the island. The fruits were fresh, natural, and thick, not "soupy." The espressos were also perfection. The employees are all so friendly, and the cafe was very cute.We are hoping to try the bubble waffles soon! I believe they only make them at certain times during the day.

Pai Cafe deserves an "honorable mention" on my recommended cafes in Hawai'i list. As many of you may know, I used to be a batista in Hawai'i before Starbucks arrived, yes, I'm old, but I've also traveled the world and once lived, very briefly, in the home state of Starbucks. I absolutely abhor the company for SO many reasons and I think as people who love the aina, especially when in Hawai'i, it would benefit everyone to avoid them.So Pai Cafe may not have specspectacular ocean or mountain views, but it's very close to both mountains, such as Diamond Head, and beaches, Waikiki. And with the limited indoor and outdoor seating, I recommend taking your drinks and food to go anyway. And here's the main reason why, everything is so picnic and environmentally friendly! If you love matcha and/or coffee, then this is your stop! They have creative specialty drinks for both! They also have acai bowls and tasty scones, perfect for eating on the beach! Parking is also limited and shared with a couple other businesses just do yourself a favor and don't try to take a left turn from Kapahulu into this parking lot.

Ok, ok, ok, I'm finally willing to share this place that's so dear to my heart. Located on vivacious Kapahulu blvd, a humble local gem. The owner was born and raised here and ran off to Seattle after high school. He unsurprisingly fell in love with coffee and generously shares this passion with us. Oh, and he fell in love with his beautiful wife, Sun, who is the mastermind in the kitchen baking all the fresh pastries and so much more! Talk about making sure you're getting your daily dose of Vitamin D. It's gloomy there and she's a ray of sunshine!Ok, I obviously love them, they are brimming with light. But let's talk about this morning delight for your tummy, too.So, their selection? On point. Their espresso was sourced from Temple and is a beautiful lateral step from single origin. I love the break from commodity and the deep dive we're taking into craft. Single origin is big right now, in my work, too, and so are relationships. It's quite tasty to come together and make something new. Did I mention Micah is a coffee geek? Let him geek out with you and ask him all about it. And pretty, pretty please try their chai. They make it from scratch and it has to be some of the best chai I've ever had. I encourage you to test this claim and if you don't agree then you can come at me. Most cafes use chai out of a box, usually made overseas. So now you know where to go for fresh chai, that good, good. Lastly, I'll highlight their amazing açaí bowls! Here again, most places buy store bought granola and a lot of places use the same boxed brand. But over in this kitchen, your health and enjoyment from the inside out is considered. Fresh is best! Come on over to Micah and Sun's home kitchen extension. In this brick and mortar you'll find a reflection of their kind hearts. It's a kindness that overflows into your drank and your being well fed. Start your day great at Pai Cafe. The more you stop here, you'll develop confidence in love. I'm telling you! Love will prevail. Together we'll be firm believers in this fact!

I saw that there was a "new" (not really new but new to me) cafe from a friend's IG story since the last time I've visited. I went to check it out! It's located in the lot that had been vacate for years next to Ono Seafood. Glad to see that there was a new structure there now! It's next to Udon Gama-Dashi. There's a small parking lot for customer parking in the plaza. I decided to try one of their signature drinks - Velvet Cream Cold Brew. I was quite excited to try it out! There was a lot of velvet cream on top of the cold brew but was covered by the cup lid with no mouth opening to allow me to drink the cold foam with the cold brew. Boooo. When I took a sip of the cold brew without the foam, it had a weird sourness to it... tolerable but caught me off guard. I've never had sour cold brew before - maybe it was the coffee they used? I was unsure how I felt about the coffee itself. The velvet cream on top, however, was VERY good. It wasn't too sweet and added flavor to the weird sour cold brew coffee. Really glad that there was a cold foam topping. Based off just that one drink, my first impression of the cafe was quite low. However, I do want to try their other signatures to see if it was just an off day when I went as my friends really liked their other drinks.

I love this coffee shop! This spot is along Kapuhulu Ave. There's parking available in the lot in front of the shop as well as street parking in the nearby neighborhood. The interior of the store is on the smaller side but overall is clean and bright. There's seating available indoors and outdoors, and tends to fill up quickly as this is a popular spot (I visited on a weekend morning)!I ordered the matcha latte and an earl grey scone. Service was friendly and quick! I loved my matcha latte, it was creamy with strong flavor, not too sweet either. The scone was delicious; tender, complemented with a sweet icing on top, and with notes of earl grey throughout. Right now, one of my favorite spots for a latte and pastry! Definitely come check this place out!

Cute cafe in Honolulu! It wasn't busy at all on a Saturday morning. Drinks came out fast, staff were really friendly, plenty of parking (given other businesses weren't open yet) but parking stalls are pretty small. Good selection of coffee and teas, and acai bowls. Two sizes for cold drinks, 12 and 16 oz. The cold foam was creamy and sweet, the cold brew itself was pretty bitter. The caramel macchiato was also sweet but coffee was better in that one.

Finally got to try this place after having it bookmarked for months. I ordered the honey rose matcha latte and blueberry scone. I was asked if I wanted the scone warmed up and decided to do that. There is some seating and a bathroom which is nice but I took it to go since we were heading to the beach. The matcha latte was really smooth. It wasn't strong or really sweet. The blueberry scone was good, however, while I was eating it I could smell that my blueberry scone had been touched maybe by one of the other scone flavors so it smelt a little funny. I'll probably be back to try their açaí bowl.

My favorite cafe here! I absolutely love the owners they are super sweet and always leave me smiling. The coffee is great quality but I always get the lavender honey matcha which is huge for me to say since I usually get coffee no matter what. Their baked goods taste like home in the best way. After my finals last semester I got myself a cookie as a reward! The space is a bit small for studying or hanging out but cool art and happy people :)

pai cafe is such a cute little spot! whether you're going there to study (like i did), or catching up with some friends, pai cafe has a friendly and welcoming environment. i got their açaí bowl, matcha latte, early grey lemon scone and blueberry scone all for about $30. their açaí bowl was yummy and a good size, the blueberry scone was my favorite of the two, and i really enjoyed their matcha latte. its creamy and sweet yet the matcha flavor is still strong. while there's only a few tables, the outlets, wifi and bathroom make it a perfect study spot!
