There are both pros and cons about staying at the Pacific Monarch. What should we start with? Let's do the pros.Pros: The staff here are wonderful. That is a huge plus for me. The pool and lounge area for guests is on the rooftop and it has a great view. Besides the pool, you have access to the bbq grills, corn hole game, lots of seating options and a jacuzzi. In the lounge area you have access to free wifi, a largeflat screen tv, pool table ($2 per game) and lots of seating options. We enjoyed the fact that we had other places to sit and eat besides our hotel room. Our bathroom was very clean. Oh forgot to mention, there is also a sauna on the R floor. That's pretty cool. The cons: We were upgraded to a suite, however, the arrangement of the room had it where the bed blocked the AC. The room couldn't cool down.If you're allergic to dust, I advise you to pack the meds or just stay away altogether. Our room was dusty, especially in the corners of the room, piles of dust collected. The black out curtains are stained to the max. It was like looking at an old mattress with stains all over... You can't expect a 5 star experience if you pay a 2 star price. The need to knows: The location is prime, close to the beach, international marketplace and the zoo. WiFi in the rooms are not free, furniture fixtures are outdated, parking rate $35/night. Would I come back? For the rooftop pool area, yesFor the rooms? Most likely not. Because the staff were so kind, I had to add an extra star. 3/5.I'll try to update in the next few days with photos.

Hotel Pacific Monarch is newly renovated in a blue and white color theme.Located in the heart of Waikiki, restaurants, shopping, and marine activities are within walking distance. The many guests who are repeat customers reflect the hotel's outstanding level of hospitality.Rare in this area, this resort with kitchens (or kitchenettes) in the rooms, allows guests to "stay as if they live" in Waikiki.Actually, I'm the owner of this hotel unit and I'm renting it under the management of the hotel. I think it's thanks to excellent hotel management that my unit is almost always full: a veteran front desk staff that is familiar with the hotel, a great housekeeping team, and a cheerful professional maintenance team. Mr. Dan Baumann GM who oversees the staff, and his secretary, Ms. Kayoko, are also very helpful.Staff members are always willing to improve their services to hotel guests. In particular, no matter how busy GM Dan is, he always listens to our owners and responds to their issues. All this combines to create an atmosphere of comfort and security for our guests. For your information, it is important to know that the condition of the unit and service will change depending on whether you choose "Hotel Direct", "External Management Company" or "Owner Direct" for your hotel reservation. My story: I registered with an external management company for a short period of time and rented my room through them. Unfortunately, as a result, there was a lot of damage to my unit, and problems such as noise caused by guests. I decided to leave the management directly to the hotel because of such a reality. This hotel can legally be booked for as short a time as 1 night, avoiding issues with short-term stays in the Waikiki resort area. There is no problem with guests staying for a short period of time at this hotel, even if there are restrictions on short-term stays in Waikiki. My friends who stayed in my unit were happy with their relaxing time at Pacific Monarch. It is located in the same resort area as one of the best luxury hotels in Waikiki. While Pacific Monarch isn't a grand, gorgeous luxury hotel, it offers a comfy atmosphere that makes you feel nostalgic and gives you that "I want to go back again" feeling.Well, to tell the truth, I lived here for more than 10 years before starting to rent my unit. When the hotel industry suffered a downturn due to the coronavirus pandemic, I considered selling the unit, but I was impressed by the fact that the hotel staff were vigorously supporting each other's business even in such a difficult time. That's why I stopped selling, renovated the unit, and resumed renting it, believing that the guests would come back again. When I visited the hotel the other day, all the staff said, "Welcome back Miho!" Hotel staff greeted me with smiles, and the housekeeper who was cleaning on my room showed me the room. This room, which I've been familiar with for many years, was nostalgic, and I felt as if I had returned to my parents' house. There was one particularly happy moment when a hotel guest who was in the elevator with me thought I was a tourist and said, "Where did you come from? This hotel is the best! I'm very happy to be here again. I hope you have a wonderful stay too!" That's what she said to me with a smile. I answered without saying I am local and the owner of hotel unit.So I just said , " Yes! I'm enjoying at this hotel and Hawaii, too!" I winked her with shaka sign.

I stayed here for the 2022 Honolulu Marathon weekend. While reading all of the mixed reviews on here prior to booking, I was a little hesitant but ended up booking it. Honestly, it wasn't bad at all. During check in, the people at the front desk were very nice. Although we got there early before the 3pm check in time, they were able to hold our luggage in locked room. When we returned to check in, they made the process quick and easy. The place felt safe since you need your room key card to access the elevators. We were assigned a room facing diamond head with a partial ocean view on the 28th floor. The room wasn't bad at all. The furniture and decor is outdated but it wasn't a big deal breaker. The bed was nice and firm. During our stay, there wasn't much noise from the neighbors. You will definately hear some traffic noise from the busy streets below. Overall, it's not a bad place and it's settled in a perfect location in Waikiki. It's a walking distance to many places to eat and shop.

Stayed here for 3 nights in one of the high floor studio rooms. My room had beautiful views of Waikiki and the bed was comfy, deco was awesome with mid century pieces. (I booked through Airbnb). Unit had an older AC so it could take a little bit to cool the room but still doable. All the staff were friendly and very accommodating. I liked having trash bins outside my door to throw out trash on the daily. Parking is $30 a day and there are strict rules you must follow such as parking on certain floors and staying between the lines. Also you need to notify the concierge every time you enter the gates garage. Lastly I'm just going to politely say this the best was I can, but when you're going thru security check in to go up to your room you have to give them your room number. On certain days or hours stand by the Vent next to the AC to avoid the scent of bodily odor. When wait times are busy for the elevator it can smell uncomfortable, but either way staff remain professional. Mahalo pacific monarch!

Stayed overnight at this place. GREAT location. Was a bit trepidatious about staying here because of previous reviews. The goods:Great location, literally one block away from Waikiki Beach, on site parking, clean room, full kitchenette with microwave, full fridge/freezer, stove (not like I am cooking), rice cooker, coffee maker, coffee, tea,, full tub/shower, hot hot water. AMAZING views, rooftop pool, people were grilling last night, night clubs/restaurants within walking distance. Excellent experience with checking out. The bads:Very low parking garage, really difficult to find pay station, walls are kinda thin, lookie loo neighbors across the way in next building, Toilet paper kinda scratchy. $30 parking for 24 hours.I would most definitely stay here again.

Great location, small kitchen big plus.Nice and large balcony , listed as ocean view, but it is really a partial view . We hardly could use it, on the 26th floor is constantly windy. We reserved the highest priced one bedroom ocean view condo and specifically requested a remodeled unit wiling to pay additional fee, but the unit we got was so old and disgusting. This immediately gave a dirty look of the place. And important to mention, my husband and I suffered from BUG BITES!!!! Two twin beds were so uncontrollable, mattresses sagging and bouncing. The place in general is too noisy, but this is due to so much traffic and high rise buildings around. Reception staff was always professional and friendly. Since we cannot be guaranteed a remodeled unit, we will not come back to Pacific Monarch next time.

The pictures are too good to be true! Never trust an Air Bnb... Before I go off, I have to mention that the staff is the reason why this review is not 1 star. I love them, they are polite and respectful. They deserve all the love you can give them. Now, when I was visiting hawaii for my family vacation, I stumbled upon this "gem" on Air Bnb. At such a great price and with promising photos showing a great view and CLEAN rooms, I was hooked. Instant regret! I had just got off my flight with the fam, and it was late at night. Everyone was tired! We rented our car and got to the hotel, and at first it was looking good. The moment we checked out our room, disaster struck! After a tumultuous journey to find a parking spot in a narrow-as-can-be parking structure, I was beginning to worry about the hotel. It all seemed very cheap and shady! However, I was willing to give it a chance. Never judge a book by it's cover. When my family and I finally got to our room it was an absolute nightmare. The room was completely filthy! A library shelf has less dust than that ac unit did. Everything was dirty. The bedsheets were made but the room itself was horribly underkept. My daughter was the straw that broke the camel's back. After she started questioning me about how the room looked "really messy" I almost broke into tears. This was suppost to be our family's big vacation, already it is off to a bad start because of a poor management. I planned this out for so long and I only wanted my family to have the best time they can. It's a horrible feeling to experience. With all the covid regulations our family had to pass to even come into Hawaii and this hotel, it makes me wonder how this room could be left so disgustingly unsanitary. It's not okay that my daughter is exposed to the filth in this rooThe only promising features of this room was the view and the flooring. The rest of it was not what I paid for, and certainly not what was advertised. No room, should be as dirty a room as this one, and to be rented out?! It is both unprofessional and dishonest. I certainly hope the next place I take my fam to room will not bare any resemblance to this room.

We needed a place in a pinch while we were there. We got the studio kitchenette. The lobby looks nice & updated. Free lemon water in the AM. Front desk staff was awesome. Yes the room was worn looking but it did not matter. Had a bed & pullout couch. Was not the most comfy. Having a kitchenette is a great feature with little kids. We could refrigerate and cook if we wanted. Checkout is at 10am and they will keep your bags if you wish to go to the beach or use the rooftop pool, which we did. There is also a hospitality room just under the pool. This can be used to lounge and shower and toilet use. Hawaiian Tropic shampoo & conditioner. 2 blocks from the beach. Great location.

This visit was part of a destination wedding and visiting a family member and since it was only one night and my daughter had stayed at the sister hotel next door Aqua Bamboo Waikiki in the past (we couldn't get a reservation for 3 people for the date we wanted-all booked), I booked to stay at the Aqua Pacific Monarch Hotel for one night so we could be two blocks to the beach and of course location is everything! Pros:* two blocks from Waikiki Beach, * very clean as far as I could see as we had a kitchenette in our room, clean bathroom and neatly thick folded bath towels with the face towels shaped as shells!* Pillows were comfy!* Musubi Cafe Iyasume on the street level in the hotel! * Free beach towel per person with towel card provided by front desk. * front desk and housekeeping very helpful and friendlyCons: * Noisy air conditioner, noise from the street was very loud, and bedroom ceiling fan kept clicking. I thought I could use the noise as white noise like a sound machine, but it was hard to sleep soundly. * $30.00 for parking per day in the adjoining garage (not part of the hotel) Normally if I'm going to go all out and come to Hawaii, I would stay in a 4 star but for just one night, I could handle it. Life is short so enjoy it as much as you can!
