Best spam musubis I had on the island. It's a little mom and pops - the man there was nice and everything was a decent price. It's also right next to Drip Cafe. Overall I'd definitely recommend for a quick snack on the go.

They make a really good spam musubi and also sell some good bentos made fresh daily. Not bad for a liquor store. It's a good place to grab a snack if you're hungry and don't wait. They also make sandwiches which I haven't tried yet. Owner is very nice and helpful.

This quaint old-time grocery mom & pop is a personal favorite of mine. Located across the stone paved walk from the cathedral, I like to stop in here after Mass to break my fast. The wonderful owners are always so gracious, friendly and welcoming. I usually end up purchasing a couple of their hard boiled eggs and a container of their ono Kimchi. This kimchi is beyond description it's so good! They make it fresh in small batches and they don't use sugar or MSG. For those not on restrictive diets, they offer a plethora of hot and cold "to go" dishes, bentos, etc... Lastly, they also carry the normal Asian and US grocery items as well. Please join me in supporting this wonderful local owned business. Mahalo for reading my review.

Business located on Fort Street Mall by Chaplain Ln. On right is former Crepe Store and on left is Jojo Cafe in Blaisdell Hotel bldg.It is a convenience store amongst eateries, church, flower shop, and former HPU offices at end by Beretania. There is a Bale sandwich inside store. It seems that they might be busy during weekday lunchtime. Ba-Le has their own Yelp page.

I was craving banh mi and wanted to try someplace new, and within walking distance of Fort Street Mall. I saw some advertisements for bale sandwiches on the window of this store and ventured in. Kind of a surreal place. This convenience basically has anything you can imagine--condoms next to dried maguro snacks from Japan, potpourris hanging from the ceiling, meats in the freezer and banchan by the counter (I think the owners are Korean?). I got the spicy combination banh mi. It took about ten minutes, perhaps a little long for a fort street mall lunch considering alternatives, but it was cheap and surprisingly a solid sandwich. Crisp bread that chips the top of your mouth, a generous portion of pickled carrots and daikon and lots of cilantro. It had a lot of this sweet and spicy sauce (visible in the picture) that was absolutely delicious. Definitely glad I didn't overlook this place.
