Located in McCully Shopping center, this place is open late night, on the ground floor, right in front of the elevators. But, whatever you do, don't park in the underground parking past midnight! They will lock the gates and you won't be able to get your car out till 6 in the morning. I'm unsure if they take reservations beforehand because I've always gone late night and walked right in. Some nights are busier than others. And when they are busy, you need to be a little aggressive in that if you want a beverage or food, you may need to flag down the waitress a few times before getting your order in. The food is very unique in that I've never seen it anywhere else like the Mentaiko pizza. There isn't anything that I tried here, that I didn't like.

Tonight, in my (what has turned into) weekly visit to Kawano, I almost didn't go because the parking lot (even the one downstairs) was fully packed. I made a last ditch attempt and went around the block and actually found the last space in the main lot, and squeezed my truck in. All the businesses were really busy on a Thursday night (off all things), but luckily, there was one spot left at the counter, so I grabbed it. I ordered some hot sake and Hamachi sashimi and got started. Since I had the okonomiyaki the last time, I decided to get the yakisoba, and added kim chee. Yumi was doing dual duty, both cooking and serving, while Haru did a fantastic job of serving everyone else. I also ordered a serving of their amazing fried gyoza with spicy sauce. I really didn't think I was gonna be able to finish everything (I almost asked for a take home plate), but I powered thru and ate every last bite (piggy). The a/c for the bldg was out, so it was pretty warm at the beginning (I can only imagine how it was for the staff), but it fortunately, it was fixed and it cooled down a bit by the time I left. It was another great, delicious dinner with great service, in a true family style atmosphere.

Food was good. ****Service sucked, from the time we arrived, to being seated, to forgetting an order - negative 5Since the service sucked, it took away from whatever ambiance this establishment had. The thing is we had a reservation, but I guess we weren't the customers that host/server liked; she was rude and forgot an order, mind you it was the first order she took from our table. This just spoiled everything. Hewa.

Dinner in Honolulu, Hawaii...Located on the ground level of McCully Shopping Center, right across from the elevator, is a cool restaurant that's been here for a long time:Osaka Teppanyaki & Izakaya KawanoThe decor makes it feel like you're in Japan - especially with modern Japanese music playing in the background! I also liked watching the big screen TV: Padres vs. Mariners...Service was polite and efficient. The young gal was very cute and friendly. When I told her I was going to use my credit card for the airline points, she said, "Get it, girl!"I ordered the Sashimi Salad because it's so hot outside! The salad was colorful, healthy, and refreshing! I wondered how they could make radish slices taste so good - must be the dressing and the garlic chips!Parking at the free underground level helped to cool off my car! The entrance is on Pumehana Street. Otherwise, park in front of the restaurant in the shared lot.I'd return for other menu items... like Uni Bowl!

We came here on a weeknight because we're craving an oden. Their oden feels so homey and tasted amazing! The sukiyaki taste on the oden was really good.We also got their okonomiyaki and it was so tasty! It was not too oily like other okonomiyaki we've had before. We also got their chicken nanbaan and it was surprisingly so good. This has definitely become one of our favorite places to have chicken nanbaan. It was so juicy and the soup on it was a nice touch!Service was really good and they served the food super quickly! Definitely worth checking out!

I came to the right place for my craving for okonomiyaki! They also offer oden in which I ordered the mochi, daikon, and hanpen. I highly recommend the okonomiyaki and oden items! I enjoyed the broth of the oden very much. It was light but it definitely packs a lot of flavor! I also got the tonpeiyaki and butter potato with mentaiko. I will definitely come back to enjoy more of their oden items! The staff were super friendly! I got my order fairly quick even though there were a lot of people. They have table and bar seatings available! This spot is also great for a late night snack. The location is at McCully shopping center. And as all the locals know, the parking right in front of the plaza is always crazy and packed. Thank goodness there's a lower level parking!

We really enjoyed Izakaya Kawano. They have a lot of variety of izakaya (tapas) to enjoy and share with other people. The inside of the establishment is small, but very homey. We were quite a large party so we decided to make reservations ahead of time because we knew it would get packed in there. They open at 5:00 PM every day and it's good to go early so that there is 1) parking and 2) table availability. This parking lot can get quite packed since it's next to other food establishments and a 7-11 so it can be difficult to find parking during peak hours.

I can't say enough about this spot! My partner took me here for a late night snack/meal and I'm already wanting to go back. We were greeted by the friendliest staff and for a Friday night, it was a quiet but buzzy spot. We opted to sit at the bar, grabbed two beers and a few small plates. I love hand rolls so I opted for their toro, and ikura bowl with a side of sushi rice. It was soooo good paired with a cold Sapporo. My partner ordered a noodle dish that soothed his upset stomach and we shared edamame and takowasabi. Plenty of parking outside depending on when you go since this spot is located in the same complex as a few other popular restaurants.

TL;DRDelightful izakaya with delicious staples and unique dishesMentaiko Pizza = ONOShio Yakisoba Garlic & Pepper Sauce = ONOSeared Ahi Akami = ONO-----My family stumbled into this restaurant on a whim because the actual restaurant we planned on dining at had a long wait. Osaka is a relatively small space, but we didn't have to wait (not surprising since it was 5pm on a Friday), and I was sipping on a cold beer within minutes. All the food we ordered was very good, but our favorites included the mentaiko pizza (banger!), the garlic and pepper yakisoba (per our waitress, this is a chef's special and is preferred over the pork yakisoba dish), seared ahi akami (the green onion sauce is amazing), and crab cream croquette. The sashimi and gyoza were solid as well. I thought the potato salad was just OK as compared to some other spots, and the nikusui (with egg added) was tender but not as flavorful as I would have hoped.I'm so happy we decided to dine here, and I look forward to visiting again and trying out more of Osaka's menu!

食べられないThe okonomiyaki is full of horse radish. It was inedible and the owner would not make a new one because I ate one bite already. Of course I cannot recommend this restaurant. Very disappointed
