Ono Korean BBQ

One of my go to places whenever I am in Honolulu.They have been consistent with great food and a wonderful atmosphere.The service is always friendly and once the order has been place very quick even when they are extremely busy.I ordered the Ono Special, which consisted of BBQ chicken, beef, and Kalbi.Since I was staying away from rice, I was able to get two more sides in the place of rice.I ordered it with the classic potato salad, Korean japchae, daikon kimchee, vegetable pancake, and vegetable tempura. Their sides are all very good, and it has always been difficult to choice which sides to get because they are all deliciousThe BBQ meat was sweet and hot and melted in my mouth.I can not wait to go back there again for another round.

I was craving for Korean plate lunch and came across the place thru yelp. I came during lunch on a weekday, it wasn't busy at all.Customer service was ehh... lacking. The lady behind the counter wasn't so friendly. They have lots of seating if you want to dine in. Lots of bancchan choices also! I love how the mix plates also have a "mini" version. Prices are average & like any other Korean place. I got the regular size meatjun & kalbi mixed plate. Portion was actually a lot smaller than usual places. They weren't super generous with their portions & sides. But flavor was there! Definitely was ONO - from the meat Jun, kalbi to the bancchan! I just wish service was a little better and friendlier. Overall, I wouldn't mind coming again because of how good the food is.

I'm happy to report that this little Korean restaurant really lives up to its name! We've been there multiple times now and I will happily say the food is Ono! I've had the meat jun, spicy pork, bbq chicken and bi bim kook soo. Everything was delicious but what really makes this place better than others that I've been to is there really good variety of sides. They have like 16 choices! And they include chop chae, vegetable tempura, potatoes, tofu, something that taste like vegetable pancake and many more! The food is delicious, sides are awesome and they have indoor tables and owners are friendly. Great Korean food in Kalihi!

One of our favorite casual Korean plate lunch places. Our destination if we're craving meat jun and spicy pork. Sides are tasty and there's a nice variety. Enough space to eat in with tables.

Ordered from here today. Got my order wrong. Ordered fish chun and I got meat chun. But it did let me know that the quality of the meat chun here is junk...barely any meat. Looks like shavings of meat like Gens BBQ. Love their sides. But the quality of the meat here has declined. I ate here several times now and I don't want to come back here. I should have just went to Young's BBQ in Aiea.

First time trying this place and it's all because my 90 year old mom changed her mind and no longer wanted to eat at Zippy's.I pointed to the sign and asked "do you want to eat Korean"? She goes okay.Got my husband the spicy pork, mom got the mini beef and I got the mandoo kook soo.My husband said the spicy pork wasn't that spicy. The cucumber kim chee was spicer than the pork. He said all the sides I had picked were really good.He especially liked the pancake (not sure what it's called).My mom really enjoy her mini beef and she loved the two sides that she picked. She said really enjoyed the broccoli. My mandoo kook soo was a little sad. They asked if I wanted it spicy, medium or mild. I went with mild and to be honest it didn't have any kick or tickle to it at all.I ended up putting a big tablespoon of chili oil and it made it so much better.I will try it again but I am going to ask for spicy and see if it really is spicy.Overall it pretty good.Both my husband and mom want to try more things on their menu including different banchan.The lady that took our order wasn't the smiling type but she was kind with my mom who couldn't decide on her banchan and took a bit longer to choose. That I appreciated very much.We will definitely be back to try more things.Sorry no pictures....by the time we got home we just wanted to eat. :(

This might be a personal preference of mine but in my opinion Ono Korean Barbecue is best of the fast food Korean BBQ places (Peppas, Yummy, Pearls, etc). Their portions are around the same size but the food is better and I prefer their choice of veggies more. Most places tend to serve mostly the same 8-12 veggies but at Ono they have stuff like tempura vegetables, daikon kimchi, broccoli and usually give an extra fish cake (I think it's fish cake) on the side.Only downside is that they're closed Sundays but otherwise they're my preferred Korean BBQ place. Don't sleep on the spicy pork.

Very good Korean plate lunches are served here. It's a family owned business and been around for a awhile now. You know me, always support local!

Cut up chicken pieces tasted reheated. Rice was cold. Vegetables not fresh. Should have gone to Peppa's Korean BBQ.
