Omusubi Fujimaru is located inside the Mitsuwa, as one of their food court vendors, at the International Market Place. They are described as offering a 'luxurious onigiri' lunch - their menu offers onigiri that contain salmon, scallops, saba, wagyu, and butterfish. There are also the 'regulars' that have mentaiko, ume, kombu, tuna mayo, and salmon mayo.I tried their salmon, scallops, saba, wagyu, and the butterfish; each came in its own plastic, triangular-shaped container, so that the shape is in tact as well as the toppings.Prices are definitely on the higher end, because, one, the type of 'filling' they use, and, two, it's inside Mitsuwa - definitely a nice little treat for a quick lunch with quality ingredients.Staff was kind and sweet.+located at Mitsuwa+friendly service

It was hard to even figure out the name of this place cuz there's so many different signs and banners. If you look up Fujimaru Hawaii on IG, there's a lot more pictures and vids. I tried their small uni bowl. It's SMALL, but seeing how one piece of good uni is $20 in restaurants, you get the equivalent of 4 pieces in a tiny box over rice so I guess it's worth it? I have to say the quality was good. So buttery and fresh. But it's literally an appetizer for $30. A hack is to buy some sashimi from the deli and eat that with the rice. I wanna go back to try their A5 Wagyu bowl.

Simply put, the BEST musubi you can get in Hawaii. It is unlike anything our current shops make. These simple, lightly compacted rice balls combine the well sourced, perfectly cooked rice from Yamagata with its plump grains with a springy chew, seasoned with a pleasing dashi salt, topped or filled with very high quality flavorful ingredients and wrapped in thick, crisp nori. The saba, sat atop a furkake coated rice ball brushed with a plum soy and shiso burst with complex flavors. The unagi, sushi grade. Fatty and incredibly well flavored with no muddiness or off flavor. Aside from Sushi Ginza Onodera, I have not had unagi this good outside of Japan. The uni and ikura bowl uses the dashi salted rice and tops it with uber fresh uni and well seasoned ikura. Ordered as take away, the ingredients must be self assembled to prevent the hot rice from ruining the seafood. So what's the catch and why not five stars?Nothing is house made. From sauces to the dashi seasoning to the unagi and saba, everything is high quality but bought in and assembled. The ikura and uni can both be purchased at Don Quijote. Finally anyone who knows how to wash rice, has the sense to soak it before cooking, knows the finger method to measure and an Uncle Roger approved rice cooker can source and cook rice equally well. It's hard to justify the price. Compare the $57 uni and ikura bowl to the 29 ingredient, each treated differently, bara chirashi of Sushi Sho for $40, there's no compression. Smoke and mirrors, yes but if you want to try the best and don't mind paying for it, Fujimaru delivers.

Came here back in March and couldn't find their Yelp page to leave a review. Stopped by again recently and they're finally up on Yelp!Omusubi makes fresh musubis inside Mitsuwa. Their rice and fish quality are great, and the musubis taste much better than other shops and/or the premade ones you can buy at Mitsuwa. That being said, their musubis are also very expensive - for example, a single butterfish musubi is upwards of $5. I appreciate that they're a small, hardworking business, and the food is great. That being said, if you're looking for the most affordable and/or quickest option, this isn't your best bet. On our most recent visit, we popped by around 11am. I walked to their counter and was disappointed that their menu said "out of stock" of almost all the items I wanted - like salmon, ikura, butterfish, etc. However, as I was looking at the menu, an employee came by, wordlessly peeled off the "out of stock" sticker, and put out some fresh musubis. I guess the lesson here is to ask what they have, irrespective of what the menu says.

Saw this place on Instagram. It's located in the Mitsuwa marketplace which is a Japanese market which is on the second floor of the international marketplace. They have specialty onigiri which is rice ball shaped as a triangle with a filling. They had a butter fish one which I haven't seen anywhere else. This is the best seller and they sell out early. I actually went early in after trying in the late afternoon the day before and they already sold out. This was a great snack. My only complaint is the butter fish could have been a little larger being that there's a lot of rice but it had really great flavor.
