Heard lots of great things about this bakery. There is always a line out the door but luckily the line was a bit shorter the day I decided to go in. Tried a cold brew with matcha foam and spicy curry bread. The workers are so nice and they have a freshly baked bread so it was nice and hot! The coffee was good, next time I'll try their matcha lattes as it seems like everyone was ordering those. I wished they had more espresso drinks, but it seems like matcha is their best seller. The bread took me back to a Japanese bread shop. I will say the spicy curry bread is SPICY and I wish I got the regular. I'll be back to try more of their breads!

Japanese bakeries and cafes are omnipresent in Honolulu. It is hard to find a bad one, but it is also difficult to find one that stands out above the others. If you expected to see me write that Okayama Kobo Bakery & Cafe is the exception then you are mistaken. What it is - a solid bakery that has the usual Japanese/French influence. Matcha drinks are their showcase beverage. There are also a number of fantastic matcha cafes here in Isles of Smiles; Okayama belongs with that tier of quality. I requested the regular Matcha Latte - regular milk - and it was a fine drink. A moderate amount of sweetness is also a good sign thay they know what they are doing. I've had a few other matcha based drinks...all very good. I had a Curry Pan today and it was as good as any that I've had. Parked in the Ward Villages parking structure. Fair amount of stalls...usually busy with speeding drivers. They are closed on Mondays.

Visit: manyDate: 1/26/25Time: 10:26amWhat they got right: Delicious assorted Japanese pastries, friendly service and clever to-go pastry box.Areas for improvement: Better signage for entrance & exit doors? Otherwise none at the moment. We ordered the sunrise "bun", otherwise known as a melon pan, and theirs comes without raisins! Yay! The mentaiko mochi "bun" was surprisingly tasty! The chocolate chip "bun" was good. We liked the slightly sweet cinnamon roll because Cinnabon can be too sweet sometimes. The olive "roll" was ok.I highly recommend this bakery.

My friend and I stopped here for some matcha. I got the strawberry matcha latte, and my friend got the banana matcha latte. Both drinks were pretty good, but I wish the banana flavor was more prevalent in my friend's drink. I really wanted to try a curry pan, but they were sold out when I went. It is a pretty small shop, and the line can get out the door when busy. I would still recommend it though. The workers seemed pretty nice and were working hard to bake items and make drinks. I'll definitely be back in the future!

The staff here is awesome!! Online orders are a great way to order ahead and just pickup after getting to the store. The food is really good too, although I'd prefer a stronger focus on healthier versions of their selection. The hot dog roll was super tasty but I think I gained a good bit of weight after eating it. The fish sandwich is too greasy for me but my mom loves it! The vibe is kind of beachy yet urban and I like it.

I've come here plenty of times within this year and have tried many of their pastries and drinks. Personally, I loved everything from here. It's located in the old Starbucks location on the corner of Auahi St and Kamakee St in Ward. There's multiple parking garages around the area including the one attached to where the shop is. The pastries were all very soft, baked to perfection in terms of saltiness or sweetness. All the pastries I've tried were just the right amount of saltiness and sweetness which was amazing. My personal favorites for the pastries were the Mentai Salt & Butter bun, the regular Salt & Butter bun, Cinnamon Roll, and Filet Fish Panini. The drinks here are delicious! I've only really tried their specialty drinks of Matcha Sea Salt Cold Brew, Banana Matcha Latte, and Rose Matcha Latte. I loved the uniqueness of the drinks here with an emphasis of matcha! The banana matcha latte was one of my favorites. However, when I recently got one, the banana cold foam sank all the way to the bottom of the drink and clumped up. It was kind of strange in my opinion.... But maybe the banana was too dense?? LOL. I've started to notice that the amount of cold foam on top of the drink had decreased (peep at two drink pics below). The one with more cold foam was earlier in 2024 and the one with the two drinks was December 2024. The differences were quite interesting. Overall, this bakery made it to my top list of bakeries on the island. The pastries and drinks here are always very delicious when I come!

It's sad I gotta put 1 star to this place. First time here and they already got our orders mixed up! Me and my friend ordered some baked goods then some drinks. The cashier she's a short Japanese women didn't look like she understands English that well. She punched in me and my friend orders in then she punched in the couples order next to us. Didn't realize it until after I paid. The total was almost $90 and once I paid everything and looked at the receipt I was like these orders aren't even ours! It was the customer next to us.We had to explain to her that the 1 cute box, curry pan, hot dog panini, yakisoba panini, and turkey cheese croissant wasn't ours! We had to give back our boxes and have it fixed for us. The process just took so long! I was refunded for the orders which was $19.32.I don't know how you can get that mixed up when we just had 2 boxes of baked goods and you didn't ask if this 3rd box was ours she just punched it in with our order. If this was the situation you could've at least gave us something in return for messing up the order and having to wait so long for the refund process and making the couples order next to us have to wait too! And there was a line too! So everyone had to wait since there only 1 cashier and I just felt bad for everyone that had to wait! Not to sure if I wanna come back! It really sucks when you trying something new and things don't come out how you wanted to. They should really organize things better and ask if these boxes are yours or not.

I understand the hype because they're sooo good! This Japanese bakery located in the Kaka'ako area (Ward) is a great spot to get delicious baked food ranging from sweet to savory and drinks too.I honestly haven't even tried half their menu yet so let me know what your go-to order is! Their matcha items are great, but I'll admit I wasn't a big fan of Matcha Sea Salt Cold Brew because the cold brew was extremely strong even with the matcha so I would recommend sticking to their other matcha drinks like their banana matcha latte

Heard about this place from an acquaintance who loves matcha and said she came here on accident and was pleasantly surprised.I was in the area, and I also decided to give this place a shot. Parking is in the garage - free. It's a small shop, no seating inside, but ample enough seating outside. The pastries are all really fresh. I ordered the Kobo Kuma, Strawberry Milk Cream Croissant and the Strawberry Matcha. 10/10 for everything. My tastebuds were also pleasantly surprised. It was not too sweet, and it was light - just perfect! The service was great, too! The associate was so friendly in helping my little one pick out a treat.I would definitely return, if I'm in the area.Yelp 2024 Challenge: 22/30
