"Review of the mundane- the college cafeteria"Kapiolani Community College has several eating options which range from vending machines to upscale culinary offerings at their dining facilities. In the great in-between lies the cafeteria, located along the great KCC lawn, across from the Lama Library. It is located on the Makai side of the campus. The main cafeteria area has satisfactory seating for this campus and also has a small stage area for presentations/ entertainment. The AC is excellent and is a refuge from the heat and humidity of a hot day. Breakfast is served every weekday morning till 10am. Non-Grill breakfast items are serve yourself and sold by the oz. includes, fried, white and brown rice ( sold by the scoop) and tater tots, scrambled eggs, pork sausage, smoky joes. This limited breakfast buffet is ok, nothing to write home about. If you get your scrambled eggs from the tray after 9am the pickings can be slim and rubbery. At that point I'd stick with their baked goods and coffee for a morning jolt. They sell their delicious scones and biscuits in limited quantities. Lots of beverages, cold and hot, delicious hot entrees for lunch including bentos sometimes. They do not provide cafeteria service after mid-afternoon. Evening meal options on campus are the fine dining Ka Ikena and basically the vending machines. An average college cafeteria with pleasant workers and decent grub. Not the best, not the worst, seems to serve it's primary clientele satisfactorily.

Recently remodeled, the cafeteria has been freshened up and the views are as gorgeous as ever. Great deals on food can be found- the lunch and breakfast specials are pretty tasty, and the bentos are good. Also check out the pastries, which change daily. They should definitely bring back the kimchi bacon cheeseburgers and chicken & waffles though ;-)

Ohia cafeteria is a spacious campus dining center located at Kapioloani Community College. The cafeteria is open to the public, and offers a wide selection of food and beverage items at decent prices. The cafeteria itself is staffed by students who are participating in the culinary arts program, from which i heard is quite an intensive program, but also gives the students the option of studying culinary arts at one of the most renowned culinary schools in the U.S. Some of the highlights: COFFEE CORNER- Upon my last visit to the coffee station, i noticed they began offering espressos and cappuccinos. There are also several pastries on display, which are extremely tempting. They also have regular black coffee, and tea. HOT ENTREES- This is the money maker! for those who are looking for a balanced meal, check out the hot entrees section. There is usually a portion of carbs, protein and veggies to keep you fueled throughout the day. Check out the website for a look ahead to see what's being served daily. http://culinary.kapiolani.hawaii.edu/ohia-cafeteria-and-coffee-corner/ The BEEF BURGINION is a winner here. the chunks of beef and gravy, smothered over a scoop of brown rice and a side of green salad make me want to spend the entire day just in the cafe. I think regular plates usually run from $5-6SALAD STATION-If your looking for mac or potatoe salad you may be looking in the wrong place. Make your own out of the great selection of veggies, or grab some pre-made salad. The pre-made salads are quite healthy, they are usually flavored with a bit of spice or seasoning, with the option of adding one of the assorted dressings. There's a scale at the end of the salad station so you can weigh and know about how much will be charged per lb.http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/ohia-cafeteria-honolulu?select=Aoqaf9wCK41HhlwY6tvRwQ#rDfnNPaNxRfY0_x90H812QFAST FOOD STATION- Offers a variety of burgers, Chicken, Teri, Cheeseburgers etc., they also offer sides like french fries and onion rings. http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/ohia-cafeteria-honolulu?select=Aoqaf9wCK41HhlwY6tvRwQ#fjMbkhpJuu-FCVGX08G4qwOhia cafteria is a excellent place to check out if you're ever around the KCC Campus, its very spacious, the noise level varies, and there is an excellent breakfast and lunch selection to chose from!

I give it no ratings because it's a shame ! All this money that goes into this school and the food is horrible , they run out all the time and there is never enough food. The selection is horrible and there's not that much to choose from. It's sad because this is a culinary based school and the food is Terrible and the exact same old food reused! I got sick after eating the chicken. I pay to go to this school just like everyone else and not any effort in creating a good lunch experience for the students. Everyone needs food to function and help with studying but when you have prices to high and not enough food or poor quality food it's a shame. I wish more time and effort went into the food and the cleanliness of the cafeteria was well kept. I asked one of the workers one time if there where any rags to wipe the table and she told me it wasn't her job , mind you I didn't even ask her to wipe it I asked where they where because I was going to wipe it myself. She was rude , I went to the sanitizer buckets and it was dirty brown water that wasn't changed it looked like in hours . I work in a restaurant so I know how many times you are suppose to change the buckets. Then since I didn't eat there I went to warm my food in the microwave and it as absolutely disgusting so I didn't even warm it up I just ate it cold . The place is filthy.

Good service. An effort to upgrade towards local, organic, and healthy fares. Some of the dressings and sauces are still a little salty, but appreciated the apples in the large deli case, the various salads and fish dishes, the creativity behind the menu design, and the kind staff. Prices...are little higher, but considering the turn towards haute-ish local cuisine, apropos. Maybe not super affordable to all, though.Desserts are ULTRA YUM. Moise, thick, generous banana bread like grandma used to make, and an inventive mochi-chocolate chip thingie that was a guilty pleasure.Plus, interiors looking SO FAB, with many electrical outlets, couple of high tables with barstool type chairs, and other comfy seating adjustments that are student-friendly.

Meh. Way overpriced for low quality food. Even the drinks are marked up too high. This place is supposed to be for students but I can't afford to even eat the crap food they serve here.
