My hubby and I have been members at OCC for about 1.2 years now. We have the full membership so hubby can golf and I can enjoy the rest of the amenities while I get back into golf. The property is gorgeous. The upper parking level is for regular members only. If you're a "social member" or a guest you can park at the lower level. There's a gym, locker rooms, swimming pool and golf shop. The staff are always helpful and eager to assist if you need help or have any questions.I've dined here many times and have never been disappointed. If you're a member, you will have access to the app and can make your restaurant reservations and also t-times from the convenience of your mobile device.

One of hub's classmates and spouse came down for Christmas with their daughters and families. Several meet ups were planned and I attended their lunch one.One classmate's husband and son are members. She told us to pay her, not the country club and no tip. Thank goodness I had a Ben Franklin in my card holder.Breakfast and lunch menus were offered at our 11 am reservation slot. We all chose lunch: chicken katsu curry, butterfish donburi, tuna melt, clubhouse sandwich(2) and Teri plate(2)Our server was friendly, spunky and had an interesting accent. She serviced several tables besides ours yet refilled our water, iced teas and Diet Coke. Two of our group gave omiyage- so local, sweet and thoughtful. One had handmade cards and the other had baked shortbread chocolate chip cookies. The view is gorgeous of the city, greens and mountains. Christmas decorations were still up on 1/4/25. Their onion rings were super big, crunchy and good. Three people asked for take out boxes as the portions were more than ample.I learned that there are several heiaus(sacred Hawaiian areas)on the property from the classmate on my right. He had just come back from Machu Pichu and shared photos of the king's hut and the sacrificial altar for human sacrifices.Nice to catch up on each other's children( now all grown) and travels taken in 2024 and what's ahead in 2025.

Lunch in Nu'uanu, Honolulu, Hawaii...My friend usually emails me or texts me. When she called, I answered right away. I thought it must be an emergency...She said her daughter was ill and would I be able to take Wendy's place at the Oahu Country Club. While I checked my calendar, I thought: "Wow... I've never been there, and I grew up right across the highway from this venue!" I was able to move some things around and was able to attend the function!Oahu Country Club is an exclusive venue with a private golf course, lush landscaping, and a banquet hall with beautiful views. The upper parking lot is for members. I parked at the lower parking lot (for free), walked up the stairs, and found the banquet hall. There was a sign that pointed to the 35th Anniversary of the Organization of Chinese American Women, Hawaii Chapter, 2024 Officers Installation. I followed the arrow, strolled past the restrooms, and entered the banquet hall. There were some red decorations for the upcoming Lunar New Year and bamboo plant centerpieces with gold dragon ornaments. I found my friend, gave her a lei, found my assigned table, and chatted with some people that I knew! There was a short program before we went through the buffet line. The salad bar included fresh greens, fruits, and macaroni salad. Hot entrées of roast pork, noodles, and a chicken dish were delicious. Self-service beverage station was next to the dessert table. After lunch, we watched a video about the organization, listened to a couple of singers, and watched tahitian, Lionel, Dragon, and hula dances. Employees were efficient and professional. They refilled the bowls of food and removed used dishes and glasses promptly. This is a pleasant venue, away from the normal crowds of downtown and Waikiki. The only thing that could improve would be exiting the property. The traffic light only allowed a few cars at a time to get through. Otherwise, I look forward to returning!

OMG, if you ever get an invite to dine at the Oahu Country Club, don't pass it up since it is a members only facility. I had the wonderful opportunity to dine here twice and both times have been exceptional. Both times was a mahalo luncheon for the volunteers of the organization I volunteer with. Last year it was held in December and this year it was in October. The pics I have posted will be from both visits. In December, the facility was holiday decorated through-out the facility from the lobby to the dining area with Christmas trees, Santa, & colorful decor. Add that to the outstanding views of the Nuuanu Valley & the downtown area with an ocean background, made the ambiance of this place even more special. The view alone is worth the trip & fortunately both times, it didn't rain. There is a good sized parking lot in the back down a small hill & also a covered stairwell from the lot. Be sure not to park in the upper lot if you are not a member since it is reserved for members only with signs all over the place. It is a little tricky to find at first when you exit off Pali Hwy. The short road is narrow & goes thru an older neighborhood & one would think WTF? Once you come thru this, you will see the sign & the greenery of the golf course and know you are in the right place. When I went the first time, I wasn't sure what to expect of the food whether it would be mediocre or something to rave about. I have eaten at couple other similar places where the food was ok, but average. Oahu Country Club was a nice surprise. The buffet lunch we had was superb, some of the best catered food I have ever tasted. It was hard not to go for seconds when one was already stuffed from the first helping & wanting to save room for dessert. The buffet line started with an assortment of salads & fruit. There was caesar salad, mix greens, potato salad, maki sushi, shoyu chicken, kalbi ribs, butternut squash ravioli, hot veggies, noodles, rice, mashed potatoes. The kalbi had good flavor & not overpowering, & tender. The butter squash ravioli became my favorite. It was the bomb! It was so creamy & buttery which blended well with the butternut squash filling. My favorite salad was the seafood salad made with spaghetti noodles, couldn't get enough of that. Chicken dishes were also tasty. I don't think there was anything there that I had on my plate that I didn't like. On a separate table there was a self-serve coffee/tea station. This included their Plantation tea which was a lightly sweetened tea not overloaded with sugar, yummo! The desserts were on another table & they had a small assortment from bread pudding with a cream sauce, fudge brownies, & macadamia nut cream pie. The brownie was too sweet for me. My favorites were the bread pudding & the cream sauce & the macadamia nut cream pie. The pie looked like a little tart & can be misleading....you can't just eat one. I have to admit without shame that I did go back for seconds on my faves both times. We were allowed to take home any left over dessert. The staff provided take-out boxes for us. The service of the staff was also outstanding. They were so attentive, removed used plates quickly, very friendly. Refilled water when needed, rarely had to ask. They were all on top of it. The executive chef at last year's function even came out to greet us & addressed our group before the eating commenced. He had a European accent & was quite cordial to us. He seemed to take great pride in the food he prepared for us & the staff. The restrooms were very clean & just being in the building with so much history makes the whole experience worthwhile. Overall a great experience. Food & customer service was awesome & the views....there are no words, it was incredible. Pictures do not do it justice. Don't miss this place if you get the chance, you won't regret it.

My second time dining in the restaurant, this time around we were invited by our banker. The view of the golf course, Honolulu skyline, and Diamond Head are spectacular. The food as always is fantastic. The service is top notch. We definitely want to come back more often and are looking at membership options.

Happy Saint Patrick's Day! Last night my husband and I were treated to a delicious dinner at the beautiful Oahu Country Club in Nuuanu. With luscious tropical views of the golf course, we enjoyed seasoned edamame, sweet Korean chicken, and frings...French fries and onion ring combo...for appetizers. I love seafood so I ordered their special scallop and mashed potato entree while my husband chose the tender teriyaki beef. To end our meal, we shared the delectable Kona coffee mud pie! If you ever get a chance to dine at this exclusive club, don't hesitate to be treated to a beautiful sunset, excellent cuisine, free parking, and friendly staff right in the heart of Honolulu!

Country clubs are exclusive. They are privately owned organizations where you need a membership and that means $$$. This will allow you to use their facilities that generally includes their sports, fitness, and dining facilities. Oahu Country Club (OCC) was founded in the early 1900's and first started out as a 9-hole links in 1907 and extended to the full 18-hole course in 1913. Located in Nuuanu Valley just off Pali Hwy, this course is surrounded by luscious green mountains and can also view the Pacific Ocean.I first came to OCC for a company Christmas party many years ago. Country clubs are known for their prestigious, high standards where they have a dress code. I recall needing to dress up and our branch manager requested the men to wear a long sleeve shirt and coat.Recently, I came back to OCC to celebrate a colleague's surprise retirement party. I was shocked and honored to have received an invite as I only worked with her for a few years. Her husband sent out invites and coordinated with us via text and her daughter sent us a postcard to save the date.Driving into OCC was a very pleasant experience. It was misty with a slight drizzle and the grounds were wet. For visitors, you need to park at the lower level as the ground level stalls are marked as reserved. We had a private room that sat about 40 people that overlooked one of the putting greens. It was still drizzling, and I was able to catch a glimpse of a rainbow. This function was well-organized where we had to submit our meal order ahead of time. We were given salmon/shrimp or steak, where I selected steak. There were 2 servers who took care of us for the evening. They were professionally dress in all black attire. We were also provided appetizers of shrimp, fish and vegetable tempura with dipping sauce on the side. I selected fish and pumpkin tempura, which were both delicious. I was impressed with the tempura dipping sauce - flavor was spot on.Next, the green salad was served to us, and it was fresh and refreshing. I enjoyed their house dressing that was an Oriental, sesame based creamy dressing. The salmon/shrimp dinners were first delivered and then came the steak dinners. For those who selected steak, we were given a card to place in front of us during check-in. This allowed efficiency and the staff didn't need to ask which entrée we selected. My steak dinner was massive and impressive. It was charcoaled grilled until perfection and it was executed so well - - from the seasoning to cooking. To my delight, it was still red in between and the steak really reminded me of dining at a high-end restaurant. Yes, the steak was that good. It was accompanied with scalloped potatoes and asparagus spears. For dessert, we were served the OCC bread pudding, which was rich and delicious. I loved the creamy vanilla sauce on top. By this time, I was tapped out so after taking a few bites, I asked for a box to take home as breakfast for the next morning.Service was outstanding the staff were attentive to our needs. The only set back that I witnessed was their audio system. The guest spoke from the podium and the portable microphone resembled those outdated ones I recall back in the 80's-90's. It didn't work so the guest removed his face mask and spoke loudly so all could hear. Overall, another memorable experience at OCC where it's an honor to be invited to participate. I don't golf but do appreciate the finer things in life. I had a great time at OCC where I enjoyed their facility, delicious meal, and service. It would be an honor for a return visit, and I wouldn't hesitate to RSVP to another event at OCC.

Can't go wrong with a meal at the Oahu Country Club! It's members only so find yourself a member and put on your stretchy pants, because their dinner buffet features a LOT of different delicious foods to try. Parking is easy for guests in their lower lot. Walk up the ramp to the main entrance then up the stairs on the right to the main dining room. There are beautiful views of the golf course and skyline from the windows. Service is great. Their dinner buffet is known for their prime rib, which was a perfect medium rare and super juicy and tender. The sides are quite delicious too, including different kinds of veggies, a large fresh salad bar, rice, chicken, steak, fish, potatoes. There were two separate stations for appetizers (cocktail shrimp, raw oysters, sashimi) and desserts (bread pudding- so good!, carrot cake, haupia lemon cake). It's hard not to stuff yourself here because everything was delicious. It's not the most inventive food but it is reliably delicious, fresh, and hot.
