North Shore Surf Shop

My bestie and I were in town for a destination wedding. Why not get some good fun in the sun in North Shore while we're at it? I searched for a Groupon, but wasn't sure if I should buy North Shore Surf Shop lessons since I wasn't sure what their availability was. I called up the shop and was told to call boss, Liam. Liam was awesome! He got back to me right away and spoke of the many options bestie and I can do. He gave us an option to come out early to snorkel with our own gear, then have a private 2:1 surf lesson with a stand up paddle boat tour. The private surf lesson included all we needed (rash guard, soft top board & private instructor). The SUP tour included the board and tour guide. We were delighted to know he had an instructor for us even at such last minute.North Shore Surf Shop is super easy to find. Pass Pupukea Road (stop light) and slow down as you pass Foodland. The parking lot is the next paved driveway to the right situated across from Sharks Cove. We checked in and signed the disclosure forms with Grayson and rented a $10 locker since there are a lot of thefts there.We had THE BEST time with our North Shore Surf Shop instructor, Slade! Ask to surf with Slade and you're in for a treat. You will be learning with one of the most kindest, classiest passionate world class surfer on earth. He was always so encouraging and patiently waited for the best wave to conclude our lesson. We had a lunch break where my friend and I went to get some local grinds and meet Slade for our sunset Stand Up Paddleboard (SUP) lesson. Once again, his instructions were great and he allowed us to remain on our knees until we were comfortable to stand. I've never seen so many sea turtles in my life. It was a beautiful day on the water. We'll be back to visit, Slade! Slade! Let us know when you're back in Newport or Huntington Beach! I just purchased my own inflatable SUP! You inspired me. The "North Shore" is a 17-mile stretch of coastline on the north side of Oahu.If you're visiting Oahu and want to visit one of the beaches that comprise the North Shore, you'll probably travel along Kamehameha Highway and pass through the town of Haleiwa."North Shore Surf Shop" is readily visible, probably because it has its own building and parking lot.If you're looking for a branded T-shirt or accessories to buy as souvenirs, they have those. But walking thought the shop, I would say North Shore Surf Shop is more of an "outfitter". It is a company which provides equipment and supplies for the pursuit of certain activities (in this case surfing, diving, snorkeling, etc.). They stock a lot of premium branded merchandise. They can sign you up for lessons and activities; and they can rent equipment as well.

Nice personnel and great selection. Handy location. I like the local vibe and variety of options.

GREAT location! Any further West (towards Haleiwa) and traffic and parking are terrible. This location can serve all your surf, sand, beach needs and is much easier than anything in Haleiwa (across the bridge). Great customer service, good selection of goods and services available. A bit pricey as everything on the North Shore tends to be so price is comparable with other shops in the area.

I cannot express how amazing this shop is! Dalen, Josh and all the staff are so very welcoming and so very helpful. Friendly, knowledgeable all the things to make you feel right at home. Awesome staff & gear. Bought several t-shirts for gifts back to the mainland, magnets, sunglasses (my fav Blenders from SD), & ladies sweatshirts & crop tops.We will be back for more goodies!

Dallin and Ky were great, they gave us a list of places to check out in the north shore! They were so sweet and resourceful. We are so thankful that they gave us the ultimate girls trip! We went snorkeling, biking, had a nice lunch nearby and ended off the day with some shopping at their store which had great pieces and had delicious shaved ice! I can't wait to come back next time and learn how to surf from them!!!
