North Shore Surf Girls

Very easy to book a private lesson without missing out our stay on the island. Communication was excellent via text. The lesson was for 2 hours. This includes on land teaching and going over with the student emergency and safety procedures. The place is easy to find and very accommodating for the ones waiting for the student. Shade from nearby trees are available but if you have, bring an umbrella so you can be near the water. Water is clear and beautiful- the surfers are all waiting for their turn for a wave. Better get there around noon when tide changes and there is more wind so more waves. Lily was the assigned facilitator and she was awesome- my daughter was comfortable and enjoyed herself much. Lily was positive and encouraging- great time!

Our instructor Amy was amazing. She was patient and helpful with my teenagers and my husband, and all three had multiple successful attempts at surfing. They are hooked and can't wait to come back to Hawaii and do it again! The meeting point was easy to find, all gear was provided, and there was even a photographer that got amazing pictures we could purchase after. North Shore Surf Girls was amazing!

Our instructor Josh was amazing! He was fun, patient, considerate. I really appreciated that one of the 1st things I learned was what to do if struck by a big wave, which was so helpful during the rest of the lesson to be more confident and self-sufficient. He gave clear explanations and tailored his instructions individually (my husband was at a different level than I was). He's very analytical and was able to give great pointers to make small adjustments to my technique for notable rapid improvement. We had such a good time that we actually cancelled a different vacation plan to come back for a 2nd lesson and had just a good of a time the 2nd go around! Thank you Josh!

Carol was a great instructor, and I really enjoyed the protected cove at Pu'aena State Park next to Haleiwa for our lesson. I highly recommend her!

Signed up my adult daughter, 10 year old son, and 5 year old son for a family surf lesson. Carol and Tamara were amazing! They were patient and encouraging with my 10yo who is cautious and hesitant to try anything too risky, they were engaging and enthusiastic with my 5yo who is talkative and overzealous. All my kids had a great time, and said they want to go again! Will definitely book with NSSG next time we come to Oahu!

I called and was signed up for a private lesson within 20 minutes. Josh was my instructor and I felt super safe and in good hands. He made it fun and easy and gave me helpful advice. I really appreciated that he met me at my level and helped me to see how I can improve outside of the water. It was the best surf lesson I've ever had and overall great process. Thanks so much!

We signed up for a one hour session on a whim. Josh was a great instructor and, after a brief demonstration on land, had us out in the water. My fiancé was nervous about being about 50 yds offshore and the possibility of getting hurt falling off the board. Josh expertly and gently acknowledged her feelings and explained exactly what to expect when she fell off. After the first fall, we got right back at it and both were surfing by the end of the hour. Had a great time with the NSSG lessons! We had 6 of our family members do lessons. They were friendly and I felt safe and secure with their teaching method! All the kids learned how to surf thay day ​

Our daughter had a 2-hour private lesson with Aimee. She was fantastic! Our daughter had taken a 3-hour lesson in California in June with a group, but the time was split between everyone. Since she caught on so quickly, this time we did a private so she could advance more quickly. Aimee was so easy to work with - taught her how to read waves and all the other things she needs to know to confidently surf on her own now. Highly, highly recommend North Shore Surf Girls!
