North Shore Shrimp Truck

My five star review is based on location, hours, and gluten free food availability. It is around the corner from our home, it was open at 20:30. They were knowledgeable about wheat/gluten allergy restrictions. They have 100% corn tortillas in addition to flour tacos. Their corn tortilla taco plate and salad option are gluten free. My husband had the nachos with sweet pork and said "this is really good, another place I can eat, less cooking for me". He is the pickier eater between the two of us. Maybe next time we'll dine in and enjoy an adult beverage with our meals and do dessert. I'll have to check out the flan. They had tres leches cake for the other dessert. Cute merchandise is available for purchase.

Kind of a tourist trap.The flavors weren't mixed very well and as you can see in the picture - there isn't even syrup up to the outer core of the shaved ice.

While at Waimea Beach, I had a craving for garlic shrimp, so I decided to leave my family on the beach to get some food. The North Shore Shrimp Truck was the nearest option. When I arrived, the cashier was very polite and welcomed me. I ordered three garlic shrimp plates with a side of hot sauce for ea. Each plate came with a drink of your choice, either bottled water or canned juice/soda. Since I was alone and couldn't carry everything (they didn't provide bags), the cashier kindly helped me find a box. This assistance was invaluable, as I wouldn't have managed to carry everything back to Waimea Beach due to the long walk from the parking lot to where my family was swimming. The garlic shrimp was delicious and tasted quite similar to Giovanni's.

Yummy food & friendly service.Need to make effort to recycle and clean up straws. Also, do something to draw bees away from customers. Literally dozens buzzing around while trying to eat. Husband got stung on face.

I am a garlic fanatic so this place stood out to me among the other options nearby. The price is reasonable for the number of shrimps you get and their size, but the sides left much to be desired. The rice was pretty wet and mushy which didn't allow it to absorb the extra garlic sauce on top of it well. The side salad was okay and helped balance the salty flavor.They cook the shrimp with shell on which is usually a plus for the crunchy texture + flavor, but the tails aren't fried enough to feel okay eating and not worry about choking. I honestly would order shrimp a la carte next time since they do well on those. Service was nice but can get slow when there's lot of people in the area. It's in a food truck lot with different options but lots of seating and near the beach.

I agree with the others; it was ok! Got their most popular plate, Garlic Shrimp. The shell was still on and I feel like that made the shrimp lose a lot of it flavor and did not allow the garlic butter to be marinated or lathered throughout the entire shrimp. It was a little bland and could've used more seasoning. The rice was mushy and more wet then I would have preferred. I was hungry and thought there was not enough food and price was quite high. Left with much to be desired!

Stopped here on our road trip around the island. The spicy shrimp tasted like buffalo sauce on shrimp and they used Italian dressing on the salad. If you are hungry def stop, but if you can wait...go to North Beach!

Convenient spot to hit up after shark's cove! The garlic shrimp plates were tasty but a little mild as if they needed a bit more salt. Overall not too bad and price was fair. Salad on the side was just plain with italian dressing.

Second time around-much better. Garlic shrimp were large, hot and good garlic flavor. Same generic white rice and a fresh salad. Topped it off with a root beer float. Still not best i've had but glad i gave them a second chance.

The service was ok. They were helpful enough. The food was meh. We ordered the garlic shrimp with the spicy sauce in the side. I believe the spicy sauce was just regular hot sauce. The shrimp was surprisingly underwhelming and not that flavorful for being garlic shrimp. I also got the chocolate covered cheesecake for dessert and that was decent. There was parking lot and seating outside. There were a lot of chickens walking around us while we were trying to eat.
