Hole in the walls! This is more like, hole in an industrial park. Wonderful selection of mochi with different fillings. My favorite is peanut butter. Once I get my hands on these, they don't last very long. I wanted to take some home with me but they had no chance of making it home at all! Casual. No seating. Parking is limited. Please come and create your own experience.

One of the Best Mochi stores in Hawaii! A must when bringing gift from Oahu, to the outer island or anywhere in the world. Plenty variety& always made fresh! Good customer service and clean store. Traffic is a problem, as they have been working on Dillingham Blvd for a while! Still worth the trouble!

Get your mochi-filled memories from Nisshodo! My happy memories of enjoying mochi from Nisshodo were immediately reinforced on my recent visit here! Still remember my mom including a plate of Nisshodo mochi with red bean filling, despite the budget-restricted shopping list.Made it here, in spite of the rail-related traffic restrictions on Diilingham Boulevard. Best to approach from ewa direction, so you may make a right turn into the driveway of this industrial area acrosd Honolulu Community College (near Costco Iwilei).Had to try lychee and matcha mochi, as well as the lima-bean manju. No pics as devoured them in the car lol! So delicious - you must make a visit to Nisshodo for mochi-filled happiness!

I have always been a fan but this last time I was so disappointed. The peanut butter one is creamy but nothing like another place on the island. The chi chi dango is the good but the fruit filled ones is just not as yummy any more. Remember I never ate mochi growing up and just became a fan because of this place. Unfortunately I am not a big fan but I would come here if I am in The area. It is good mochi for the chi chi dango assorted flavor one is my favorite one for 1 pound now 13.00.

Found this cute little spot tucked away in an unassuming parking lot & was excited for authentic mochi, especially after recently visiting Japan. While the mochi was good, it was on the sweeter side and the flavors weren't as distinct as I'd like them to be. The service was great though--they recommended that we try the peanut butter mochi which I thought was odd, but surprisingly it ended up being my favorite one!

Hidden gem for those looking for mochi desserts.Hard to find and parking is tough.Once you get here, it's all good.Great choices of fresh mochi with Hawaiian twist.Loved their anko baked anpan. Pound box of chichi dango was excellent with variety of flavors.

I'm a fan of this store and bring people from out of town often. The ChiChi Dango is my favorite and I always buy a box or two so my friends can try it and aren't tentative about buying. Usually they eat what they buy before they leave making another trip to the store so they can take some home. If they have the melon (honeydew) it's always a favorite. The store is like a giant garage with a counter showing the manju and mochi. Parking is fronting the business. Hours 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM closed on Sunday.

I've known about Nisshodo for a long long time. It's always been in the back of my head to visit but the hours never worked for me. I'm happy to report that I finally got to visit thanks to my friend Li Y. for surprising us!We arrived at the mochi and manju shop on a weekday morning. As one of the only customers, we had the display case to view all to ourselves. Plenty of traditional and fruit-flavored mochi and Manju to choose from. Plus their famous chi chi dango. Service was speedy and informative and we were kindly helped.My friend picked up a Variety Pack for us to share. These were a mixture of mochi with various fillings and chi chi dango. The mochi is fresh and so soft. The flavor of the filling was not too sweet, a nice texture, and tasted exactly like what I'd imagine it to be. The chi chi dango was a soft bite-sized goodie. I enjoyed everything I tried and wish I could've gone when I used to work nearby.For those wanting quality, old-school, affordable mochi and manju Nisshodo Candy Shop has been the go-to spot for decades! It's a timeless place with a variety of Japanese goodies and warm service. They're a bit hard to find as their location is in the back but there's parking out front. Mahalo!

An incredibly small hole in the wall basically tucked into a corner parking lot. Don't come for the ambience! The staff is great though and you better be ready with your order because they are quick quick quick. We tried basically one of every mochi and it was all amazing. So soft and fluffy! The flavors were nice and quite unique.

I do not recommend this store. I called ahead to place an order, but they said they weren't accepting phone orders and that I had to come in person. I arrived right at opening (7 AM), only to be told the mochi weren't ready and to return at 10 AM. To avoid another wasted trip, I placed an order for pickup at 1 PM. When I arrived at 1 PM, the worker--who was completely incompetent--admitted she forgot to put in my order, and they had sold out of everything.To make matters even worse, we traveled from out of state, and this was our last day in Hawaii. This entire experience was a complete waste of our time and ruined our final day. Their disorganization and lack of accountability were beyond frustrating. I was really looking forward to trying this place, but unfortunately, the service was incredibly disappointing.
