Naniwa-Ya Ramen is located on the first floor of the Ala Moana Center in the food court area. There are many food court choices but today we decided to try another new ramen place while doing some shopping. The ramen doesn't come with the soft egg so we ordered 2 on the side. The service is pretty quick when not busy and you'll get a pager. When your order is ready, the pager will buzz you to pick up your order. They pack your order as if it's "to go."We ordered the miso ramen and vegetable ramen. Overall, it's pretty good. The miso broth was just right and not too salty. The veggie broth was ok, a bit on the light flavor side. I wish they added more veggies.

They give you a pager which vibrates when your order is ready. You go fetch your food, so no service. It's located in the mall food court, a huge cafeteria feel. The y was a flour taste with the first bite of udon, the bowl contained one slice of fish cake and two pieces of fried tofu which were actually tofu skins, the broth had flavor but didn't taste fresh, probably reconstituted. Disappointing for $13. I was still hungry afterwards.

I am with my fellow Yelpers. There wasn't anything that jumped out at me when I ate at Naniwa-Ya Ramen located at the Ala Moana Center's Food Court. I was with a group of friends. Everyone seems to have their own desire of cuisine. I had a crave for noodle soup. So, I went to get ramen with a side order of gyoza. It was a weeknight and no line at all. My dishes came out pretty quick. I kind of question on my food preparation. Yup. The big box made gyozas look so tiny. I could eat all 4 pieces in my bite. Ramen was so-so. Flavors seemed to be okay. But I tasted better ramen before.

Very touristy. Portion size is really small. The gyoza are so tiny. Frozen & reheated in the microwave. The staff thought I was dumb, that I didn't see that my gyoza were not on the flat top. They were put, scorching hot, into the takeout box, and according to G.R., anything that is served that hot has been heated in the microwave. I wasn't expecting a gourmet gyoza, but maybe something a little more than, "I could have done this at home.". The flavor and texture are exactly the same as the frozen ones I did prepare at home last week, that was twice as many. The restaurant was not busy at 3:30pm on a Tuesday afternoon, so making a fresh batch would have given the staff something to do, other than standing around squawking with eachother in a foreign language. If that had been done, I would have left a tip. Live and learn.

Staff definitely wasn't friendly but if we're basing it on food, there's quite the selection here. From mild to spicy there are plenty of soup broths and combinations to choose from. Quick and easy, priced competitively, good sized portions.

When I used to work in Ala Moana I could rely on this place for ramen that I would rate five stars. Maybe as time has gone on I realized I was just hangry during work, so anything would taste amazing. If you're in the mall, don't wanna leave, and want some simple ramen then I would come here. But if you're willing to make a short drive you'll find much more high quality ramen places. If you compare this place to it's neighbor, Barrio, it's like fast-food versus restaurant, and there's nothing wrong with that! If you eat ramen as much as I do, maybe you know the feeling of what I mean as far as flavors. The biggest differences I've noticed: noodles and price. Naniwa serves saimin noodles while barrio serves ramen so do with that information what you will. This place is also a few dollars cheaper so that could be a deciding factor for you! Although, when I came here, their gyoza dumplings were not up to par. All that considered, rating it 3/5 stars for an OK rating seems accurate to me for my experience.

Searching for a bowl of steaming hot Ramen? This is as about inexpensive option you will find for eating at the Ala Moana Mall in Oahu. The service was quick, the food was good, not sure how you can go wrong making ramen noodles. We especially liked the pot stickers. The most difficult thing about eating here is finding a table to eat at after you get your order. I would suggest having one person sit at a table before you even go wait in line.

Decent option if you don't want to pay more at the fancier ramen place in the same food court. Don't expect to be wowed!
