There is no restroom here. But it is the trailhead to Kapalama trail. It may confuse you to go downhill for 0.5 mile or so but it will go back uphill.

This is my neighborhood jewel. I love it bc it's a short drive from my house and very dog friendly. If you're coming here as a "destination park" and don't live in the neighborhood it's probably a let down, due to lack of parking (2 stalls), no picnic tables and there's no bathrooms. I take my dog here regularly and can tell the people who use this place respect it a lot. There's never garbage strewn about, piles of dog poo or weirdos lurking in the corners. Just a clean, wholesome spot to get your walk on and let your dog or kids run. No homeless people. No druggies. If they did appear, they'd be shut down pretty quickly in this neighborhood. The people who come here are regulars. I know them by their dogs. My baby loves to run and play while I walk laps and use the "workout equipment". It's a very basic set up. A place to do crunches, squats, pull ups. etc. but it does the trick.Overall, I wouldn't go out of my way to come here, (definitely would NOT drive across town) but since it's up the street, I love it!

Recently, we were up in the Alewa Heights area visiting with some relatives as we passed by this park. We used to rent a house up here while waiting for our current homesite to be built as well as being closer to these relatives. Many a day would go by when I'd start my run up to the top of the neighborhood on Alewa Drive then down towards the intersection of Waolani Avenue and Wylie Street then return back up to near the top. Along the way, I would pass this park and its adult day care center for Alzheimer patients. I never really gave much thought about stopping here since it was so close to our rental until our recent visit. So, I roamed into this mini-park (4-acres) and was amazed by the breath-taking, unobstructed views of Downtown Honolulu and Punchbowl. There is a paved loop track that one can walk or around and work out equipment. The park is largely a big grassy area and is tiered along the slope. There is a large looping cement driveway toward the respite home/adult day care (Hale Kako'o) but few parking spaces exist. The respite home is managed by the Waianae Comprehensive Health Center but doesn't seem to be occupied. This strictly a neighborhood park with no restrooms where you'll most probably see many people walking their dogs, allowing their children to play, run or just walking about to get in some outdoor exercise.I'm told that there is access to the Kapalama Loop Trail that leads up to the Lanihuli Summit located along the Kapalama Ridge. Um, to take that hike, I think one has be in good physical condition, fearless or very cautious as the terrain can be unstable, steep and narrow in parts. The trail is not clearly marked, except by some pink plastic tags which often get torn or broken off so, it's highly recommended to go with experienced hikers. Check out the views from this park on a clear day and you'll feel like you're suspended (Alewa) in the clouds.

I decided to take a jog up Alewa Heights from my house which is around Liliha/Lanakila before sunset to catch the view. I then came across this park and decided to check it out...This small park is a hidden gem, not many seem to know this place besides the locals who reside here, so it's relatively clean and peaceful. There's a jungle gym, and a nice sidewalk that loops around the park. Good for running. Very dog friendly, everyone seems nice here too! There isn't any restrooms or picnic tables, there are some benches around the park and a water fountain that came in handy in my run. You can't really see the sunset from there, but you can see an overview of downtown Honolulu and I managed to take a shot of the clouds beforehand. Nice park, I'll be back on future runs! IG: @K3nley

My favorite park to workout at. They have a concrete path around a grassy area. There is a small workout station too. A lot of people walk their dogs here or let them run around here so that's nice too. Sometimes I play frisbee with my friends in the grassy area but everyone with their dogs is really nice and never minds (to my knowledge lol). The only thing I wish that could be different, is that the foliage outside of the gate was trimmed so you could have a view of the city and ocean like there used to be, but that's probably outside of the parks control since it is on the other side of the gate.

You gotta love this little/mini park right here. Some call it heavens because it's on the top of a mountain. Since this park is elevated, the views from here is immaculate! You have a scenic view of the downtown and Punchbowl areas. Now on to the park, it might be called a mini park but it's bigger than the other ones in the area. Not that much parking stalls here though but you can also park on the street too. The field is huge. There's a concrete pavement loop that goes around the field, perfect for running/jogging/walking. The field is usually filled with people and their dogs. The people that frequents this park is pretty friendly too. My pup really loves this park. He makes a lot of friends here. The main attraction of this park for me has to be the fitness area! What's better than excerising outdoors in nature, right? Unless it's storming hahaSo with that being said... bring your doggies here if you want them to feel like home.

This park is a slice of the days that neighbors always said hi to each other, play dates were made with dogs and kids and people shared everything from pie to carpools.Justin, Koa and I really feel a part of the family here! We love taking Koa here to run. It is off of a neighborhood street so it is nice and quiet and is not fenced in. But, if your dog is trusting enough not to run off, it is perfect. There is a paved path around the park that I often run on while Koa is playing. Sometimes families come and they bike around the path. There is a playground there too and the view is absolutely beautiful! You often see rainbows over Honolulu and it is a great place to relax at the end of the day. There is even a short trail off to the side of the park for an even more gorgeous view of the city! You should bring a water bowl for your dog- there is a water fountain to fill it up there.... Have fun with your puppy friend!

I LOVE THIS PARK....and so does our Italian Greyhound, Koa. This is a hidden gem tucked away up Alewa Heights. The park has a big grass field, a beautiful view of the city, Punchbowl, Diamond Head and the deep blue Pacific Ocean. Taking Koa here after work is the best way to unwind from a long day. While I relax, Koa is running all over the place burning energy and hanging with his other dog homies. There's a playground, decent parking, and a sidewalk that circles the lawn which can be used for jogging which people often do. But what makes this place great are the people. Dog lovers unite. We've made a good handful of friends here. Everyone is in a good mood and smiles here. One person even gave us a mini-fridge and microwave.

Please do not let the pictures fool you. I would not consider this a park, more like a neighbors backyard with a Descent view. Maintenance was not kept up and smelled like dog poop. Not worth the drive if you do not live in the immediate area.
