Music Together Aloha

Christina has an amazing voice and her enthusiasm really makes the class fun! We have taken this class taught by different teachers when we lived on the East Coast. The concept is to expose your little one to music through spending 45 minutes singing, dancing and moving with your child and other families. The teachers lead the class through singing and encouraging parents to do the same. Even the worse singer...hahaha...me sounds good when blending your voice with a great lead. Christina quickly makes the group comfortable through singing the hello song and then switching song to song mixed in with movements with filmy scarves, instruments in bags, and lively dancing. The class is definitely upbeat and songs are very easy to learn. Even if you cannot carry a tune the class is a great way to start the morning and just sing! Not to mention it's very good family time!

My daughter and I have been with Music Together Aloha for over a year! It used to be Ohana Music Together, and we'd attend weekly classes in Kaimuki with Ms. Becky, Ms. Shira and Ms. Miwa.It is AMAZING. Whether you have infants or older toddlers, this class is like no other- the teachers are upbeat, engaging and passionate, and put so much thought into each semester, which is called a different instrument (so cute!) Along with a songbook, you also get a CD (my daughter loved this during car rides as well as at home), and honestly the songs are probably the best I've heard for kids (they're similar to the Laurie Berkner Band, where they encourage movement, following direction and acting things out along with the music which is awesome for toddlers!)We are Music Together's biggest fans- we continued with their Zoom classes while quarantined (so thankful that they continued), and even without all the class perks of instruments, scarves, parachutes, fairy lights, etc. my daughter was glued to Zoom the whole session. She still knows songs by heart from previous semesters!She's due to begin preschool soon and I'm very close to having her miss a day just so she can do her music and dance classes, lol. It gives her so much joy- she's a dancing singing little soul by heart and needs classes like Music Together in her life!!!

I just moved here from the states with my then 11 month old son and since my kiddo is an only child, I really wanted to get him involved in some kind of group class. My cousin did Music Together back on the mainland with her kids so I searched it out here. They offer a free trial class so we randomly chose Miss Becky's class in Kapolei because it was close to my parents hotel. SO SO SO glad we did!!!! I can't emphasize enough how much my son loved it and his Miss Becky!! She plays the ukulele, involves the children in class and you can tell just loves what she does. We've been taking her class ever since and are planning to as long as we can. She encourages the kids to participate with fun instruments, other props and physical movements but they never HAVE to. We receive a booklet of the music each semester and a CD. I've been able to change the words to some of the songs to use them with our everyday things at home as well. Miss Becky has been able to keep an 18-month old's interest too when we switched over to the online classes. Sorry for the long review but I love and appreciate all the happiness and music Miss Becky has brought to my son over the past 7 months!! I'll be forever grateful:) I can't carry a tune but it doesn't matter. My son (and I lol) has/have benefited so much from the program. Obviously I highly recommend this program and Miss Becky for your little one!! There are older kids in the class as well which is actually super nice for my son to have such great kid models. It's just an overall really wonderful program if you're looking for something fun and educational to do in a group setting with your child. This review is coming from a preschool teacher who holds credentials in 3 states and has taught for 12 years. I only wish Miss Becky could be my student's music teacher as well. She is truly a GEM!!!

Music Together Aloha is amazing! I started coming to classes in 2012 (when it was Ohana Music Together owned by Miss Becky) with children I nannied for & have recommended it to numerous additional families over the years. When I finally had my own child in 2017, finances were tight, but I knew that Music Together was the one splurge I just had to make. Each semester's song collection is thoroughly researched & contains a variety of tempos, key signatures, time signatures, styles, and languages, all designed to aid a young child's developing musical abilities. Parent education is woven into each class and helps us to learn how to help our children grow musically in age-appropriate ways. The materials we receive each semester are also great--a CD of the semester's song, a code for a digital download of those songs, and an illustrated songbook. My son has quite the collection of Music Together books and loves to look through them & sing the songs from past semesters. There's also the option for parents to download the sheet music if you'd like to play it on your own instruments at home (piano, guitar, etc.). I've had a variety of teachers over the years, all of whom were fantastic, but I can't say enough good things about Ms. Shira and Ms. Christina, the current teachers/manager & owner. They bring joy, enthusiasm, compassion, and humor to the classroom, whether in person or via Zoom during the current pandemic. They take an interest in each individual child and celebrate each one's musical growth. They are also very responsive at helping with any technical issues with registering for classes or signing up for makeup classes using the online portal. I was so impressed with how seamlessly they transitioned to online classes during the pandemic, and how they maintained the same high quality of musical education without skipping a beat! To sum it up: Music Together Aloha classes are 100% worth the time, energy, and effort! (Parents have to participate too--you are your child's musical model!) Thank you, Ms. Shira & Ms. Christina for bringing joy to my child & me, both pre-pandemic, as well as during these challenging times.

Amazing teachers, wonderful customer service, great classes. My daughter still loves the songs from classes we took months ago. Recommend highly!! You won't regret the money spent. There aren't a lot of high quality opportunities for kids classes on the island, and this is definitely one!

I'm thankful to have a Music Together Studio in Oahu. My family has taken Music Together classes in 3 different states due to frequent moves. I was overjoyed to see that Hawaii also has a program. We have been able to continue our music program here. The staff is excellent and provides a top-notch program. I enjoy hearing my kids singing the songs. Thank you!

My 3.5 yr old son and I have been attending Music Together classes since he was 6 mos old. Our first 2 years were in MD and the last 2 sessions here in Kailua, HI. Music Together Aloha has been exceptionally wonderful. My first impression - they were responsive, thorough and prompt to answer my questions regarding registration, costs, etc. After starting classes, I was even more impressed. The classes run smoothly and have the balance of being well planned & organized while still allowing for the fun of kids being kids. Our teacher, Miss Shira, is the best teacher we've had (and we've had some really great ones with Music Together.) Teaching and sharing the gift of music seems to come so naturally to her. She is well prepared, knowledgeable, fun and kind. She brings a genuine joy with her to class. We truly enjoy Music Together Aloha and feel fortunate to have it here in Kailua!

We love Music Together classes and highly recommend them! Fun and educational at the same time. My daughter thoroughly enjoys her time with the group, and sings the songs at home too. Staff is extremely friendly, easy to communicate with and responsive. Can't say enough positive things about my experience with Music Together Aloha.

Music Together Aloha brings you teachers who care about the families in their classes, creativity, joy, and most importantly the chance to make a meaningful and lifelong connection with your child. This class is not just for people who identify as musicians - it's for everyone! Your teacher guides the grownups through the semester in how to use the music at home and explains the basics so it's easily accessible to everyone - literally birth through more mature folks. In class you get to sing, dance, play, and just be silly with ZERO judgment because let's face it, it's all for the benefit of the kids right?? Plus, they understand kids will get the wiggles and there's no pressure or expectation for them to sit sill and "perform" the entire time. During COVID I was so sad to not be able to bring my first baby to any of the usual types of outings/groups but Music Together Aloha came to the rescue to bring some sense of normalcy and helped us feel like we didn't miss out on this crucial time in her life. If you're still not sure if you'd like it they offer a free trial where you can get your feet wet and see how it goes. Added bonus: the music doesn't make me want to rip my hair out if I hear it 9 billion times because it's so rich and there's always music from other cultures represented. I highly recommend, you won't be sorry!
