Music express hawaii is a husband & wife team and i think that is so awesome...even their daughter was helping set up too. Anyways, i just wanted to say thank you to u both for a nice night in helping us celebrate my daughters graduation & for trying to keep to our music list. I could boar you with details but when you get right down to what really makes me unhappy about the whole experience with Rick the DJ is this: RICK THE DJ DID NOT SHOW UP! (Underline that and picture it in bold text.) We paid for Rick and I even have it in writing that he is a one man operation but still he did not show up. Instead, he went off to Texas to watch his daughter play soccer and his wife showed up unannounced to DJ my daughter's wedding. He didn't have the decency to tell us he was pulling a bait and switch on us and when I complained and asked for some of my money back, he offered me $100 provided that I sign a piece of paper saying he did a good job and I would not post a negative review. Guess what Rick? I am not a happy customer and I am wondering how many of your customers you bought off. PS: RIck's wife, Edna, did a mediocre job and there were several problems that reduced the quality of the special event. The primary reason for my unhappiness is that I did not get what I paid for. Not showing up to your own gig is very unprofessional and anyone considering hiring Rick to DJ their event should think twice. Rick from Music Express was an excellent DJ. I shopped around for a lot of DJs and his prices beat out the competition hands down. This made me a bit hesitant, because there's the possibility of "you get what you pay for", but of the DJs I spoke on the phone with he seemed the most friendly, and had one of those "moviefone" voices that I could tell would be great for MCing. I love their ala carte menu, so you can decide what services you want, and only pay for what you need. We got the Dj with basic light/sound set up, and that was plenty for our venue (Hale Koa Banyon Tree Showroom). We also decided to add MC services, because we didn't want to worry about making a family member do it. Rick met my husband and I a couple weeks before our wedding and we went through the timeline. He had a lot of fun suggestions, some I was a bit wary of, but I felt I had the freedom to say 'yay' or 'nay' on items. I even had a pre-wedding panic after meeting with my venue and almost spent tons of money on a day-of coordinator, but when I talked to Rick he said we should just meet and he'd help me create a master timeline and think of all the details I could possibly forget - it was awesome, he went above and beyond just to help me out and it made me so much calmer before the big day. The website he uses for you to input your songs can be a little frustrating - make sure you click SAVE often or you might lose your stuff and have to remember all the songs you listed. If I could do a half star deduction on Yelp the only reason would be for some minor snags in the wedding program, like I thought I had specified that our first dance song was to begin while we walked down from the stage, and I remember having to say, "Start it, come on please start!" while we were walking down - of course, that could also have been my failure to communicate that properly. All in all though, my guests danced all night and we had a blast - a great DJ!

Rick and Edna did an awesome job for our daughter's sweet 16 birthday party. My daughter did the playlists before hand and everything went smoothly.

Thank you Music Express Hawaii for providing us such an amazing music & MC at our wedding!Rick, what a great guy! We met up a couple of times to go over our wedding program, he was very professional, always on time, and very quick when it comes to responding to our emails and other requests we had. What made us glad was that he specifically created a music web page for us so we could request music and make a payment anytime and without any problems. He also has all the equipment we needed including really nice exterior lighting for dance floor, wireless microphone etc. On the day of our wedding Rick did perfect on MC, music selection was exactly what we wanted, in fact, it was so good that even my uncle started dancing (he's never danced before)! Overall, Rick and his staff did a fantastic job and we are so thankful for what they have done for us on our special day! I feel compelled to write a review after such a great experience. We hired Music Express as our DJ's for our fairly big wedding last month of around 250 people. We had a lot of moving parts to coordinate when it came to the music at our ceremony and reception - one solo musician, a duet, then a band (Kapena) all playing live music. Rick was so easy to work with and took the initiative to speak to each artist and make sure they all had everything they needed set up properly. The music and sound was great the entire night. He did also DJ the last 1/2 of the night with fun music to dance to, it was perfect! We also hired them to set up lighting around the venue, that also turned out very nice and elegant. Rick was very straightforward with his fees, easy to talk to and was always available if we had questions along the way. It was a great experience and I would highly recommend Music Express to a friend for any party or event. I will definitely be using their services in the future if I have the opportunity. Thank you!

Rick was a great DJ! He was also very flexible when we decided to add a band to the wedding entertainment. We loved the Hawaiian and reggae music he played during the cocktail hour and dinner. He helped get people on the dance floor and was very receptive to music requests. In addition, he was very reasonably priced and extremely responsive. I already recommended him to one of my friends who is getting this year!
