Mr Ojisan Neo Bar & Sushi

Food: I ordered the wafu steak, chicken karaage, and grilled salmon. Everything was so good. I really liked the fried garlic on the steak, salmon was extra fatty and the chicken was super crispy.Service: The staff all seemed like they were from Japan which made the experience seem more legit. We were seated right away and the food came out quickly.Ambiance: It feels like a sushi bar, but with a modern accent. Price: The prices are reasonable for good quality sushi bar food.

Found this place on Yelp and I was pleasantly surprised! Awesome izakaya with sushi, large variety of mains, and noodle dishes. Staff were very friendly and able to walk in and sit at sushi bar. All dishes tried were delicious and price is very reasonable for quality. Would recommend making reservations as it does seem like a busy restaurant. Ordered: Various nigiri: fresh fish and crunchy nori Chicken karaage: came out fresh, crunchy, well flavored and portion was large Wafu steak: steak well cooked and the fried garlic was a nice edition Agedashi tofu: favorite appGrilled salmon: cooked perfectly and fish was not overcooked or underdone Must try when you are in the area! I will def be back!

We just finished attending an event but really needed some solid food. My bud K said he knows a place. I had never been, so why not? I have passed by Ojisan's a number of times and often wondered. There's a parking lot in the back with a number of spaces.Friendly greeting and we took a table on the side. Lots of locals which is always a good sign. Some of them were loud which made it all the more fun. They have nice cold beer on draft.We had the wafu steak, braised tofu, and shishito peppers. Man this hit da spot! I did want to try their karaage chicken, but that will have to wait for another late night!Doomo arigato Mr. Ojisan!

We heard about this place from others that have dined here since they are foodies like me.Across from Times King Street, parking is located in the back of the restaurant (Hauoli Street). Look for designated parking spaces.I had the 10 piece nigiri with tekka roll. The fish was fresh (meaning not old and reeking of old tasting, smelly fish) and good quality. It came with a miso pork and veggie soup, tamago and veggies that paired well with the meal. My hubby and daughter were happy because I couldn't finish my meal, so they happily ate the rest of the sushi left on my plate. I also ordered a hot green tea that was nice, hot and very smooth. For dessert, I shared a lava cake and ice cream and my belly was extremely full and happy.I love the ambiance of this place - the painted walls, a place to take an angel wing selfie, an omakase section and more. Staff were friendly, helpful, and didn't feel like they were trying to rush us out. Two hour time limit was perfect for us to enjoy our Friday night pau hana gathering!

We received a warm welcome from the staff. We didn't get served right away because it was very busy but they managed to get our drinks and took our order. The food came pretty quick. The food was delicious. It's was crowded but not too noisy so the ambiance was good. The staff thanked us when we left the restaurant. It's my second time eating at Mr Ojisan and will go back again soon.

Good food, fairly easy to get reservations so if we're in a pinch this is where we like to go. Food is always good. Parking sometimes is an issue but street parking is good. Ambiance is mellow.

Came here for lunch yesterday. They have limited private parking spaces but we found one right away. Inside, we were seated right away and food was delivered timely. Food was pretty good. Next time I would like to try their sushi.

Pretty good local Japanese food. Went on a weeknight so it was a little slow and but the service was very fastAmbiance is a local, chill place to just eat and talk for a bit. The vibe is a liittle like the old school Japanese/local dinners like LikeLike or Wisteria.

Update on Ojisan been here couple of times and it was ok . But today I wanted to put in a phone order to be pick up at 5:30pm but I could not . The lady answered the phone said that the restaurant is already close and is forwarding the calls to her at home . First of all the website hours show 11am-2pm for lunch then re-open again 5pm-12am . I was calling them to be exact at 1:35pm. She advised me to call back around 4:30pm to put in the phone order . So what do you think I'm going to do . Bad customer service first of all and they just lost a customer and possible future customer. I was going to order a take out for a birthday dinner so they just lost out on a lot of business .

March 2, 2024, September 18, 2024 and October 25, 2024 and I forgot to post a review for this great place. It's the former location of Genji's a place that we used to frequent all the time as we knew the owner and staff really well. Anyway, they remodeled the place and it looks different and nice inside. The food is good. The service is good. That's why, we keep coming back here.
