Although Ming Hing is also a Meat store, I've seen the meats but am only here for the seafood, fish cake to be exact! Next time when I am with my momma we will grab meats. One of my shop that I usually grab fish cake from has closed for good. I was on a search for fish cake and I happen to come across this stall at the Kekaulike market. I did a quick search on Yelp and came across 5 stars ratings, pics and read Paul C.'s review quick. (the Mayor of Chinatown) I know I will trust Ming Hing. Ming Hing Meat and Seafood Market is kinda messy but I was happy to see fish cake and great price @$7.50 lb. The older man who helped me is very friendly. I am glad he understood me. I always get 2 lb and if it is over he will ask if it is ok. This recent visit I purchased 3 lbs so my momma can make her fresh bitter melon soup and have some leftovers fish cake to make another soup dish. I love the fresh fish cake, I can imagine the hard work to make this. All in all, I am glad I found another business for when my momma needs and request for me to get fish cake. Be careful on the wet floors at times when they are cleaning. Recommend!

I have shopped here for oxtail and pigs feet but I did not know about the fishcake. Thanks to Paul C I now have a new source for fishcake, one of my essential ingredients for my jook. The men there are really nice and even though I don't speak Chinese, they were able to understand and accommodate. They disconnected their land line so if you call, you will get a disconnect message. Don't worry, they are still there. My New Year will be happy now. Thank you to the men of Ming Hing and Paul C.

Pork is the most popular meat for Chinese. That's why when you come to Chinatown, it's all pork. You go to the roasted meat stands, what's the top two sellers? Roast Pork and Char Siu. At Dim Sum? Pork Shumai or Pork Hash. Even at restaurants, you can order pig's stomach, ears, intestines, liver, blood cake, kidney, feet. Oddly, tongue isn't that prevalent, which is sad because tongue is awesome! And at raw meat stands, you're able to purchase every single part of the pig and even whole! The word on the street is Ming Hing offers the best meats. It's fresh, good quality, and well priced, and the owners and workers there are actually very friendly, patient, and helpful. Though, being able to speak clear Cantonese helps, but if not, just point and indicate how much. :)Ming Hing is located inside the Kekaulike Market along with Maguro Brothers and numerous produce stalls. It's open 7am-3pm, but usually starts putting everything away by 2:30pm and even earlier on Sundays. Additionally, during these pandemic times, don't be surprised if this market is closing at 2pm or earlier. When shopping here, pork is the meat of choice as you can see the pork blood cake, pork bones, pork belly, liver, kidneys, spareribs, loin, eats, and etc. There's also Chicken feet, oxtail, and tendons on display. They have an array of frozen meats and seafood. You just need to ask, and they'll have it most of the time. I normally purchase pork belly and pork skin, and chicken feet, beef tendon, spareribs, and other parts occasionally. What I like about the belly and skin is that you can choose the lean part of the belly, and the skin is prepared very well with 95-98% of the fat cut off. Almost all the pork belly I see at big name stores such as Costco or Foodland or Times or Whole Foods, the pork belly is always mostly fat. I just want the meat!Overall, the meat has always been good here, and price is always excellent. The owners are friendly, patient, and helpful. They always offer to cut the meat if you need.Don't be thrown off by the dated look of the display case and everything around, look at the meat!

As a kid growing up I have fond memories of my father shopping in Chinatown for groceries. He'd shop regularly and had his go-to places for food. Back then Kekaulike Market didn't exist and I tend to enjoy shopping in this area because the stalls here are on the cleaner side. Not too far from Maguro Brothers is Ming Hing Meat and Seafood Market. It is a family owned and operated business that was introduced to me by my aunt and Chinese foodies. My initial experiences were your stereotypical Chinatown shopping where clerks are blunt and not so customer service oriented. You'll have elderly patrons make their way to the front despite other shoppers waiting in line for their turn. The one thing l like most about Ming Hing is their food quality. I now shop here regularly for my pork, may it be spareribs, pork belly, pork hash or soup bones. They also carry offals for those with an exotic palate. They also have free range chicken, fryers and chicken feet. Looking for Chinese fish cake? They are sold by the pound here and already seasoned. Oxtail, beef tripe, beef brisket, stew meat......the list goes on.Looking for lamb? Sold frozen here. They have a saw cutter that will cut up your bones and frozen meats. The disadvantage of this place? It's pretty much your typical Chinatown shopping experience of minimal English and rude people. This is all a part of the Chinatown shopping experience.Ming Hing Market is adjacent to the Maunakea Municipal Parking Lot with reasonable rates. You can also test your luck with street parking.Cash and EBT cards accepted here.

Great service and meats at competitive prices. The staff is friendly and helpful. It is in the middle of kekaulike market but it's worth winding past the other vendors.
