Been living in Kailua for about 8mos. We finally decided to try one of the Mexican restaurants. Now we know you don't come to Hawaii for the Mexican food and being born and raised in Southern California, I know not to have high hopes. First thing I didn't like and have never done before in any Mexican restaurant anywhere, was pay for chips and salsa. Typically chips and salsa automatically come to your table and are complimentary. But the salsa wasn't too too bad, and had a little heat to it. I ordered the chicken enchiladas. Chicken was moist however it was too salty. And couldn't really taste the verde sauce. Beans were good and Mexican rice was Mexican rice. My spouse ordered a burrito. It was massive. Only issue was the carne asada, again too salty. We didn't try any drinks, so can't review those.Food came out fairly quick and our waitress was good. Prices are high but you are in Hawaii and thankfully the portions were big. They do not offer a military discount or Kamaʻāina rate. The restaurant inside is loud, they decorated it like a typical Mexican restaurant with some Hawaiian decor. If I had to describe in one word; Meh.

This being "okayed" to be delivered to our table really got on my nerves. I've never had fajitas this bad and covered in oil. The veggies were soggy and had no grill to them whatsoever.This is the first time it has happened at this restaurant, but I am still bothered by it. The staff is always very kind, though.

It's been awhile since I have eaten here. My boyfriend wanted to spoil me today. We were the only ones in the restaurant around 10:30 or 11 am. We were hungry. I couldn't finish my dish but I ended up having the lobster enchiladas which came with rice and beans. I also ordered a lychee margarita which was a little bit sour. Tasted like a hard lemonade. We also decided to get chips and salsa. The green sauce was the best and tasted delicious. My boyfriend got the shrimp dish and he let me try his shrimp. Really good. My lobster enchiladas was good but a little salty when I got to eat the lobster. I literally couldn't finish them. Service was excellent by our waitress. She was nice and catered to us. I would definitely come back here again.

Haven't posted in a while and I thought this place deserved one. Born and raised in SoCal, it is hard finding authentic. For what it is and where we are geographically, this place is good. Deducted a star due to the $4 chips n salsa. Although fairly priced, it wasn't good and should be free as always! Service was good. Main entree was salty and I wasn't surprised after seeing other reviews. I would probably come back.

Friendly staff, nice family atmosphere, good location and great drinks. The enchiladas were pretty salty but I doused them in hot sauce to even out the flavor. The chicken tacos used hard shell and the meat was a little bland. Not bad overall for island Mex but I'll probably stick to drinking when I'm out this way. Service took a while but nothing to complain about, we were at outside tables and they were probably tending to the other inside. Will be back for happy hour

Decided to try here as it look good. A small restaurant, but they fit many seats. Lots of mexican decorations with Hawaii flare to them. I was a little disappointed that they charge for chips and salsa, so I skipped on that. Price for food was average for mexican food. I got the enchilada plate with shredded beef. It was super flavorful and delicious! The beans and rice were also seasoned well. The entire plate was filled which made it worth the price. 5/5! The server was attentive and kept my water full. The only thing that made me give this a 4/5 is that after I got home, I felt super tired and got a headache. I skipped dinner that night and the headache stayed until the next day. I think it may be because they might use package sazon and i'm sensitive to MSG and this was all I ate. Probably won't return due to this, but it's definitely a good place to check out if you're craving flavorful mexican food! Parking: Tight and may have to circle around in the lot to get a stall.

Lunch for a Sunday, place was filled with customers. Beers and tacos. Taco plate comes with 2 crispy tacos (chicken, shredded beef or ground beef) , refried beans and rice. Nice portion. Beers (Corona, Modelo) around $6/ea. Service was good and fast (5 stars). Taste was average (3 stars). Price little on the high side (2.5 stars). Parking in the strip mall or across the street.

I swore off this place b/c of the loud noise inside and said I would only try it again if we could sit outside...and luckily there was one table outside...I sat in it while the rest of our party (2) others went to check how long the wait was. We were able to sit immediately. The waitress came over, seemed to be in a rush and asked us if we knew what we wanted, even before she asked us if we wanted any drinks of appetizers. Mind you this was only 5pm on Saturday night...not late at all....we only ordered water and chips and salsa to start. BE AWARE you pay for chips and salsa $3 and the chip basket isn't even filled up all the way!!! What Mexican restaurant charges for chips and salsa?!?!?! Needless to say, we ordered shortly after..and that's the last we saw of our waitress. We had to get up and get napkins and utensils. Continuously had to flag someone down to refill out water...and finally get someone to get our bill. Too bad Kailua doesn't have other options or if they do, they aren't very good. We decided we are just going to stick w/ Taco Bell........SAVE YOUR MONEY THIS PLACE IS $$$$$$$$$$

We used to love this place but not so much anymore. Prices have skyrocketed. Place is still super noisy with everyone trying to talk over everyone else. And they no longer give complementary chips and salsa! That is unheard of for a Mexican restaurant!!! Service was great. Very friendly, attentive and courteous. Food still tasty. It was just so disappointing that they stopped serving complimentary chips and salsa.
