Nice small facility for youth sports like WRESTLING! Small venues only, due to limited parking and seating inside. My first time here, observing new officials, giving feedback and enjoying the wrestling action.Hawaii has many excellent athletes and the passion for wrestling is great in the 808 state!Team USA Wrestling is looking good from Hawaii with that Pin to Win Attitude! Mahalo to those responsible for allowing USA Wrestling Hawaii to utilize the facilities!

If you aren't using Honolulu's public parks, you're missing out! One of the best is McCully District Park. Located in Mo'ili'ili just a block off McCully, it has plenty of shaded parking underneath the main building. It offers many amenities for all ages: a playground, indoor sports rooms, multi-purpose and meeting rooms, outdoor basketball courts, and the best thing: a beautiful pool! (See my specific review for details.)Check the Rec's website for schedules and hours; many activities still aren't running during COVID, but hopefully will be soon. They have clean public restrooms as well. All the staff that works here are friendly and attentive - let them know if you need anything. There are so many free ways to stay in shape, if you're looking for activities and live nearby, start here.

What's not to love about a park located in urban Honolulu? McCully District Park is a treasure for this neighborhood. Conveniently located in the heart of McCully, and neighbors with Lunalilo Elementary School, this tiny park is home to an indoor gym, outdoor basketball court, community pool, and the former site of McCully Japanese School. Granted this is park is run by the city and county; the building is definitely dated but because of the TLC of those in the community to help maintain it, this park stands proudly and in my opinion doesn't look too shabby for being built years ago.Growing up in Honolulu, summer fun was one of those things that everyone participated in and trust me when I say I attended all of them. By far, McCully was one of my favorites--I feel like this park really helped to shape who I am today. The neighborhood nowadays is a little tougher than I remember but nonetheless this park is great in my opinion. It's a great place to get some exercise, and fresh air. Don't forget about parking! This is one of the few parks in urban Honolulu that has an adequate amount of parking stalls with its entrance located on Pumehana Street.

A friend told me about the pool and I went there this afternoon with my son who is learning strokes. We shared a lane. The staff is very friendly, there are cubbies within view of the pool, and the view from the pool is nice. Everything was clean and parking below, covered, is awesome. We will be back.

McCully District park seemed like a good idea, although there's not much green space than what I thought it would be. Community parks normally have 80% at least in green space. They do not.I ended up here at McCully District park on a brisk Sunday afternoon in February 2021 after making my way to Ala Moana Shopping center and took the scenic route. I spent about 2 hours here, I guess I lost track of time, having lunch, playing Pokemon Go here on the grounds, and people watching, amongst my experience here. It was around 12:45pm when I arrived and I saw two guys playing basketball. I decided to watch them and they were pretty good. The property itself has 2 large buildings on it, one of which houses a nice community pool. It's quite cool to have access to a pool, If you need one. For myself though, I like being outside water, just in case. There are restroom facilities for anyone who needs them. While the buildings themselves have seen better days, I feel like everything else seems adequately maintained by the good folks of the City and County of Honolulu Parks and Rec department. There's plenty of things to do here, not just swimming or basketball for the active and inactive types. There's always just sitting alone somewhere and reading a book on property. That works too!The overall experience here at the McCully District Park was quite nice and great. It was a good casual experience that makes me want to return here, whenever I am traversing thru the area - mostly on the weekends. Only problem is that there are small clusters of homeless elements that tend to come thru and set up camp here. Best bet is just avoid them and whatever you need to do without causing dramatics. I can say that it was a nice comfortable weekend day when I was out here. There is shade by the building, so you can hang out there during the mid day sun. For the most part though, McCully District park is centrally located for those of y'all who like it there - off of Waiola Shave Ice and next to Lunalio Elementary School. If you are a swimmer and want pool time, consider coming here and be familiar with the rules before jumping in. For myself though, I can walk laps around the property for my exercise in the time being, but could play basketball again if I get bored. If you are in the area and want to play basketball or swim in the pool, consider coming to McCully District Park for a day and you may end up loving it. I know I do.The lovely McCully District Park is located at 837 Pumehana Street in the university district of urban Honolulu. As mentioned before, the buildings on property is dated and there's a homeless problem at time, so do be careful about that. During my time here, there was no problems, which is nice and good. Like all community parks, which is the lifeblood of any society, admission itself into the park is free, which is awesome. Not sure if there is paid admission to use the pool or not, but I would need to check to see if there is any or paid instructional lessons with fully qualified instructors. As far as parking goes, best bet would be street parking options on nearby residential streets. If you are like me, bus routes 1 and 6 heading westbound on South Beretania, or 3, 9, and Country Express A heading eastbound on Kapiolani Blvd stops near McCully District Park, but you'd have to walk a few blocks to get there. Then there's route 4, which gets you closer to the park, but I rarely use that route. Regardless on how you get here, come on down! Best to come during daylight hours.5.0 stars for the overall experience.Support local!A+

Love this gym brings back so many great memories met so many great People, Friends and Brothers and Sisters. Just so many great stories from just this one place could probably write a book from all the things we did here. We always used to play basketball day and night almost every day until the kids finish school and took over the gym and then we teach them and play with them give them some advice, so much fun watching everyone grow up. I think almost every day there was almost 20 or more friends show up just to hang out and talk story play basketball, play cards listen to music in the office with the McCully Boyz Big Braddah Carl and Braddah Dean R.I.P. Also, our other brothers Steve and Bundy, George R.I.P. miss you guys just remembering those days when we all used to hang out talk story and just have fun times. God Bless and Aloha till we meet again.

Review and 4 stars for the pool:Despite living in Honolulu for a gazillion years, we've never come to this park and didn't know it even existed until we were looking for a swim school/program/team for our 8 year old twin daughters. The swim team we were trying out happened to be practicing in the McCully District Park pool, so we Google Mapped it and headed over.Driving up, it doesn't look very impressive. The exterior of the building looks old and dirty, with lots of weeds and dead grass surrounding the building. There's a smallish play structure outside which had a couple sketchy characters lingering nearby when we arrived. There is a smallish parking garage on the ground level - otherwise it's street parking. The gym and pool are located on the second level. In contrast to the bleak exterior, the pool and pool deck are AWESOME! Definitely looks like it was recently built/redone. Pool was very clean and very well maintained. You would never guess that this was a public pool at a public park! The adjacent restrooms/showers could use some TLC, but overall they were OK. As it turned out, we didn't join this swim school/team (obviously, it wasn't because of the facilities because the pool was awesome), so we probably won't be coming by again. However, if we lived closer, we would definitely be regulars at this pool. Nice hidden gem in the middle of urban Honolulu.

Nice park. Haven't been in the gym yet. But nice park, basketball court and mini playground for the keiki. Only sucks is the basketball court is close to the street. Don't brick your shot or else it might end up bounce rolling onto the street lol. Otherwise, beware of the homeless around as well.
