Mas Jjang is a wonderful little Korean Market that has popped up on the corner of Cane and Kilani deep in the heart of Wahiawa. This cozy space is the domain of everyone's favorite type of auntie- the one who just wants to be sure that you eat well! The grab and go refrigerator is filled with freshly made banchan, including a few types that aren't not often seen in the bigger stores. A table holds ready to go bentos of meat Jun, fish Jun, and whatever else she feels like whipping up that day. Feel free to ask her for something if you don't see it, as she is often there filling all of the positions at once, and might not have had time to replenish. The first time I stopped in it was the end of the day and I met her son, who made sure I went home with some fresh kimchi and a delicious chocolate chip cookie. My second visit was in the morning and was supposed to be for a single container of kimchi, but I was handed a plate of samples and ended up buying eight or nine different forms of pickled vegetables, two kimbap, and some delicious meat Jun. my family had an instant Korean feast for lunch that day, with banchan left for a second meal as well. So lucky!Go as early as you can, as she sells out of the main dishes almost every day. She told me that she would rather sell out than have things left over, because she believes that everything should be made as fresh as possible every morning. She takes pride in her cooking and in her service, and it shows!

Great homemade Korean food! The owner is so pleasant and funny. The place is very small so there is no seating area. Lots of banchan (sides) options to go. She was the only one working when I went, so there is a wait... but so worth it! She was kind to give samples if you're not familiar with what's on the menu. She had about 3 main dishes to order from that day I went: meat jun and fish jun that came with rice and 2 sides; and also veggie kimbap. Average $13.All delicious. What a gem in Wahiawa. Sorry, food so good, I forgot to take a picture. You can see pictures on other yelp reviews.

There's a new, little cute gem in Wahiawa! My friend and I were just cruising along and noticed a new shop in town. Aunty was super friendly and was excited to share her delicious ban chan eats. What's even better is that these sides are made fresh daily, so you're getting high-quality, homemade taste. The salted squid is a standout--fermented to perfection with just the right balance of spice, tang, sweet, and garlickey goodness. She also had a selection of musubi's and snacks to choose from, but come early, they run out quick. Parking: Street parking is available along Cane St., if you're lucky sometimes right outside her shopIf you're a fan of authentic banchan or craving a quick, flavorful snack, there's a Korean market in town that's worth checking out.

Took a ride to Wahiawa to try Mas Jjang. Read a review from Presleen E and a few other Yelpers. The ride was well worth the drive. We ordered a number of banchans and a Meat Jun bento. As we were paying the elderly woman asked if we wanted to try the poke salad. The sample was made fresh while we waited. consisting of some vegetables and fresh ahi with a mild hot sauce.Fresh and delicious. We shared the Meat Jun was also a winner. Also bought a few banchan items I haven't tried yet. Enjoy

Didn't know what to eat after my husband doctors appointment then I remembered that fellow yelper Irene M. Had a first to tip about a place in Wahiawa that sold banchan and sushi and bento. Well my husband said let's go. Parking can be a challenge but luckily we had street parking around the corner from their market. Corner of Kilani Ave and Cane street. Walked in and their were two ladies working in the market one was preparing I think the banchan to restock and the other one was behind the counter. So we bought some banchan looked at their bento and sushi. We got Kim chi, taegu, ocean salad, pickled mango. Our bento was meat jun. And the veg sushi roll. The lady behind the counter was very friendly and ask how do we know about this place told her from one yelper that had a tip about her market. Told her we live in chinatown and she said she's from punahou area. She asked us if we wanted to try ahi salad bowl. We said ok. She gave us a big sample. It was good. Ahi, imitation crab, alfalfa sprouts, and romaine lettuce and their Kim chee sauce tossed together.Told her will be back again. Came home and had the meat jun bento for late lunch it was good, the veg sushi and the banchan will be for dinner tonight. Will be back again.

Banchan (side dishes) faves was the garlic stem, kimchee, spicy cucumber, beets/onions, green veggies, Kimbap omg everything was flavorful and authentic. Definitely will be going back earlier in the day next time to get a Meatjun plate. Mother and son running the show were the two nicest people I ever met. Spreading the word to all my foodie friends to check it out.We also took home a raw spicy pork tray to have for dinner, pan fry and dinner is ready. How convenient and with a family friendly smile. Go get some ASAP, they sell out fast.
