The most reviewed spot on Yelp. Of course I have to stop by to see what the fuss is all about. After passing on it for three straight days because of the long line, we finally caught it around 10:30AM with no lines. We see what the hype is about. The ordering was done like the high school cafeteria lunch line, which caught us off guard a bit. You order which ramen you want with the first staff member. You grab a tray and move down the line. Once you receive your ramen, you slide down to choose any sides if you choose to. We tried the Squid Tempura ($2.25), the Potato Croquette ($2.25), and Chicken Katsu ($4.85). All of them were delicious if I may add. After you pay, you seat yourself, which the tables are first come first served.I tried the Tonkotsu Udon ($12.75) while the fiancee ordered the Curry Nikutama Udon ($14.15). Both were delicious and hit the spot. We almost decided to come back again for lunch on another day because of how quick the food is prepared and it's delicious. Would definitely love to see them open one in NYC and give the other ramen/udon shops a run for their money.

This place is quintessential Waikiki experience for us. We always have to stop here and it is always delicious and a treat. I know Marugame locations are opening up in major metro areas in the Mainland but this location will always be the best, in my opinion. We walked here. Casual. Indoor and outdoor seating. Fast service. Please come and create your own experience.

Marugame is very well known for their udon dishes, so I'm glad I got to try it in Hawaii! This place is very busy, there is always a long line outside at any given time (but there are windows of opportunity where the lines are short). Ordering here is more like a buffet line where you order your dishes as you desire and you pick up the tempura dishes that's already set out for customers to pick up. The workers are very diligent in meeting your dish requests and they greet every single person that walks through the door. I got the nikutama udon (sweet beef and soft boiled egg with a BK sauce (light, savory and umami flavored). The noodles were so soft and chewy and the broth was very flavorful! I also really appreciated that this dish was not extremely heavy as most noodle soup dishes are, so my experience here was very impressive. Again, inside is very busy and the turnaround time from ordering to checkout to eating is fast to accommodate the volume of customers that want to eat here too but it's well worth the experience nonetheless.

We went due to reviews and the HYPE.It's giving semi dirty with flies around. There was a long line but moves very quickly. they do offer to go or dine in options and table seating is a first corm first serve. You are unable to save seats prior to ordering just a heads up. They had a simple menu and that defenitely made ordering easier. We ordered a Beef option and Curry. Beef had so much fat and small amount of beef and flavor of the soup was not flavorful and it was giving much pork flavor. The curry was thick a lot of CUMIN flavor but i would say was a better choice option but still we didn't eat it all. I was a bit disappointed how overhyped the place was. It wouldn't be my first choice option but pricing if you were in a budget defenitely affordable. Plates range from $7-13Service was defenitely horrible but we manage

I return to Marugame Udon each time I travel to Waikiki! The line out front tells you everything you need to know - it has a cult following and is a popular spot because their udon is so good. The line moves efficiently, and there's something about the wait that makes the food even better.Marugame Udon is located a couple of blocks off Waikiki Beach, across from the International Marketplace. The restaurant itself could use a facelift, but it's clean. The staff is friendly enough, but service isn't the reason I return, it's all because of the food.I'm vegan and love that they offer a vegan udon option. Do NOT sleep on the Kitsune-Age (Sweet Fried Tofu) - but don't be confused about the broth like I have been in the past ... the broth that comes with the Kitsune is made with traditional fish broth, if you're plant-based you'll want to order the Tan Tan.Their vegan broth is "spicy" (a little bit of a kick to it). I do wish that they offered their traditional broth in a vegan version, their vegan broth is not as good in my opinion. They misunderstood my order last visit and added the spicy ground soy to my order even though I didn't want it (it comes with the Tan Tan) - I decided to try it, and personally would prefer it without.

We stopped by on a Tuesday around 1:00 pm and found seating right away. The smell is so good once you walk in the doors. The restaurant gets a little crowded, so I recommend not bringing a stroller if possible. I kept bumping into people! The service is quick - you grab a tray and order your noodles first, once you get them you grab your sides and pay. When we went they didn't have soft drinks available in a cup, but they did offer cans. Although it can get busy, there is a reason people still stop by on hot Hawaii days. Check it out!Pro-tip: park in Ala Moana or another parking structure because street parking is hard to find!

Probably the best udon restaurant in Hawaii. The noodles are freshly made in store. Menu is short, you have a couple of options. Choose from broth based or sauce based. Add toppings such as cha shu, egg, tempura, etc.Prices range from $5.95 - $15+.Very affordable and taste very good. I have tried every single item on the menu. My favourite is the traditional daishi broth udon and I add my own add-ons. My least favourite was the tonkotsu udon, the broth was weak and not very flavourful. The place always have a line but it moves relatively fast. It's mostly self-serve. You order at the counter, pick your add on. Pay. Go grab your own cutlery and table. Eat. There is no table service. Fast paced environment. They have a loyalty program, you need to download the app. I was not able to join and take advantage of the loyalty program as I am visiting

The food is good, the ambience, a little rushed environment, but authentic to Japanese restaurant. The breeze kept things comfortable and less dish wash smelling.
