Mark Kitchen & Catering use to be located in Kalihi Valley years ago. The owner Aunty Teresa Silao is my mom's cousin. We used to always order desserts from them especially Dudol. (Filipino purple version of Haupia). This January 13 & 14, we catered from them for my Dad's Wake Service dinner and lunch after his burial. We ordered for 300 people for dinner & 200 for lunch. The food was fantastic! It is what you would expect from your Filipino Grandma/Mom's kitchen. It was very flavorful and a hit to our guests. Filipino Salad - Pako aka Warabi Salad with tomato & fish sauce Pork Guisantes - Richie flavor, nice cut of pork with a a good mix of fat and meat. Not dry at all! Pork Igado - Same as guisantes but pork liver. I don't usually eat this, but it was flavorful and moist. Shrimp Tempura - BIG! Bigger than my thumb! flavorful. Nicely Fried in batter. Not burnt. Flavorful.Filipino Bamboo Salad - aka Rabong. This is not your typical canned bamboo shoots! It was nice small thin slivers mixed well in black pepper, fish sauce and garlic. Ever I ever had from a caterer.Pancit - lots of flavor! Not bland at all! Fried Bangus (Milk Fish) - Was a hit! Nicely deep fried, flavorful! Marinated in vinegar and salt.Pumkin Squash w/ Pork & String Bean - Sooo good! Fried Pork Belly- Marinated in Garlic, Vinegar. OMG! Bomb! Morcon/Embutido (filipino meat loaf)- I don't usually like this cause it got raisins but Aunty Teresa's one tasted good! There wasn't too much raisins so it wasn't over powering. Not dry at all! Very moist.Beef Steak - filipino version with onions. Just like how my mom makes it! Not salty, very flavorful. Moist tender meat, not tough! Tupig - Mochi flour with sesame seeds, young coconut slivers wrapped in banana leaves roasted on an open fire. SOOOO good! Nostalgic feeling from when I was a kid. Not too sweet, soft and roasty aroma. Do not take the 5% funeral discount. If you decide to take it, you'll need to provide yourself with your own serving utensils, forks, napkins and plates. Aunty Teresa will deliver and set up your order. She will also stay to monitor and refill pans. Price is very decent and more affordable than other places! Menu for 300 people came out to around $8+ per head, out 200 lunch came out to $9+ per head since we had more selections. We will definitely order from her again! Even if it's for house parties or bbq's!

I'm going to keep it simple. WHEN they answer the phone and take your order, and COMMIT to cooking your order, then it's good lumpia otherwise it's a gamble on getting it from their business.

I heard about Mark Kitchen and Catering from one of my co-workers, who used Uber Eats to deliver the lumpia orders to one of our work potluck luncheons.Current: I ordered tupig (Filipino mochi type dessert wrapped in banana leaves that are grilled) for my daughter's first birthday party. It's $1/piece, and my parents, who are from the motherland, said that the price was reasonable. We had around 300 guests and ordered 120, and cut them in half because they're good in size, and we wanted to get more out of it. It wasn't too sweet, and it was delicious. I would have ordered more, but they had a LARGE funeral order .I also ordered 300 pieces of vegetable lumpia, and it was $40 per 100 pieces. That is such a steal! It's way cheaper than some of the other lumpia making companies, and the taste is good. I asked my uncle what he was getting from the pupu table, and he said he was packing lumpia to take home already, and we had just opened the buffet line .The location is okay, kind of sketch due to the homeless in the area, but they didn't bother. There's also no parking along the street, so you just have to sneakily park at the adjacent bank's parking lot.

I absolutely love their tupig, but whoever answers the phone to take or confirm orders, needs to take lessons on people management and seriously, basic human manners. My mother always struggles to place a phone order and when she does, the lady who answers is rude, condescending, and at times, refuses to take orders. For this last order, my mom reached out to place an order well in advance because she knows that they're really busy. They got my mother's name incorrect, made it available on the wrong date, and blamed my mother for their error. When my mom asked to have them confirm and double check for the mistake, the lady refused to look it up and hung up the phone. We ended up having to call a different place who kindly allowed for a last minute order. I'd think that as a business, they'd be happy for orders but perhaps, this place is so successful that they're willing to reject orders people are willing to place. Their tupig has been highly recommended by my uncle, Tante dela Cruz, and I'll admit they're good, but that lady makes ordering from here a complete turn off (sorry uncle!). All in all, if you're willing to deal with rude staff for delicious tupig, this is the place to order.. otherwise, their tupig is sold from other vendors that I'd hope are more friendly but it comes at an added con of being more expensive.

Omg... best food ive ever had at a funeral service. Everything tasted like it was cooked in my mom's kitchen. Tupig was so soft and still warm when they served it! White fluffy rice and Bangus was cooked to perfection, and the mungo beans wasnt watery or had too much pork in it where you could still taste it. Ilokano food at its best, I was so pleasantly suprised and so was everyone at our table. Think a lot of the usual caterers have competition now that they've been discovered, especially when it comes to the Filipino community. I know ill be using them to cater at my next big party.

Teresa Silao was the person who answered the phone when I asked to inquire about pricing. She sounded fine on the phone but rushed me off the phone call. I requested for her to take a picture of her catering pans so that I could see the size of their pan, She replied, "Cancel, order to somebody else". It was very rude! I was offering her my business, and she didn't want it. Really horrible customer service & phone etiquette. 1st impression is everything. I don't know how this business thrives with that kind of customer service.
