This place is definitely a bit of a hidden gem. It's a little unassuming at first, especially if you're comparing it to the high end hotels nearby but don't underestimate it! The "condo-tel" type place has individual units with different owners so you kind of need to shop around for the right units that are in good condition. The one we went to was well kept and clean. It's nothing super fancy but I love that it has an attached small kitchen with a fridge so we could store our food. The AC worked great and everything was super clean. They even had towels and beach chairs for us to borrow! I think the BEST part of this place is definitely the location. It's a block and a half ish away from the main street with all the luxury stores, popular dining spots (like the International Market) and local shops. I LOVED that convenience. I walked out every morning and our favorite spam musubi spot was right outside our doorstep! It was nice not to have to worry about parking since we were so close by to this area. I think this place is well worth the price and a great option for those who don't want to break the bank but still want a good experience! The service here though is hit or miss. When we arrived, we had a super nice worker who helped us find our way as it was very late at night. One of the days however, we stopped by the front desk to inquire about a parking situation. There were two gentlemen who were at the front desk already and were speaking to the women working there about how one of their wallets had fallen into the crack of the elevator. We were waiting super patiently, 4-5 feet away as to give them space, and made no indication to rush them. From the looks of the conversation, she was really short and rude to them, telling them "what do you want me to do about it etc. etc." "do you want me to help you or not" when they were being SUPER polite and not rude at all. At one point, she just stared past them and looked at me and my husband saying "Aloha do you need help?" which put us in a really awkward spot. We said we did but we were happy to wait and she continued to push us "Well do you need help?" We said she was still working with the two gentlemen and we were waiting no problem. And she responded "So just to be clear, you're going to wait even though I can help you right now." She ended up walking to the back while all four of us just stared at each other at the weird, totally rude experience we all just shared. That left a total bad taste in my mouth about this staff worker. For the most part we didn't interact with the staff there but I guess if you do, just be careful of the front desk! Besides that, great spot haha! Hope you guys can retrain your staff and you'd be spectacular for the pricing!!

The individual units have different owners in this particular condo-tel, so the secret is finding the nice ones whose owners actually make sure it's in great condition. We've been staying at Marine Surf for years because it's less expensive than most other places and the location is so convenient. It's a block and a half away from Waikiki Beach (3 min. walk), and tons of restaurants, from fast food to fine dining, and local shops to high end ones.We use Captain Cook Resorts to book there, and have stayed in units 1204 and 609. Both have always been nice and clean, with a lanai. We prefer 1204 simply because it's on a higher floor so the view is nicer of course. Unit 701 looks nice too, but haven't stayed there. The swimming pool is alright, it closes at 7 pm and there are restrooms with showers for the pool. There are washers and dryers on every floor.Overall, I'd recommend 1204, and if that's not available, try 609. They're both nice and highly rated on Captaincookresorts.com.

There are many appartments/rooms here owned and managed by various people. We got this accommodation as a bundle with air fares from Hawaiian Airlines. Our room number was 908 and managed by Grand Welcome. Whilst we got a couple of emails before we arrived we still had to speak with the lady at the front office. She was more than helpful and friendly. The post boxes are opposite the front office and there are lots of them with various methods of unlocking. We arrived early but our key and money/laundry card (we had to add funds) were there. The positives .... beds were OK, shower worked, fridge worked (didn't try the kitchen), internet worked, TV most of the time (weird channel selection) and the location is a short walk to the beach, local shops and bus stops. The negatives....not too many. The place is a bit sad needing maintenance. We were here for 10 days but did not get a change of sheets but did get plenty of towels. Also, we had to buy toilet paper as we were only given 2 rolls.

I enjoyed staying here. It was like a home away from home with a classic Hawaiian theme. Free parking if you have a rental. There is a full kitchen. Our room had beach towels, beach umbrella, boogie boards, and scuba gear. I liked that we the fact we had to use a key fob to get around the building. It made me feel secure. Management was very kind. If I had one complaint it would be the elevators took to long and that the washer wasn't working on our floor but we just went to the next floor to wash clothes. For the cost we will definitely stay here again. Maybe next time we'll get a better beach view.

Poor security. The lanai door latch was broken, and when I reported it, the owner was nasty. He would only come by at 9:30 p.m. and refused to wait until the next morning, because he "had plans" for the next day. My car was broken into in the parking lot; there are no cameras or guards and it is easy to walk right into it. He did not apologize; instead, he was skeptical of my report. Later in my stay, I found that the second lanai door latch was also broken. It seems security is not a priority. Unit #511 is not like the one in the pictures online. It is outdated, with stained and worn carpeting. The kitchen area is adequate, but not sparkling and modern as in the picture. Bed was fairly comfortable. There is no land line phone in the unit. They do provide 2 boogie boards and 2 sets of snorkeling gear, which is nice. And it is walking distance from virtually everywhere in Waikiki. When I return to Honolulu, I will find another place to stay.

This is the worse place I have EVER slept in. The a/c filter hasn't been changed so it smells like mold. The towels all smelled like mold. Only one elevator works. The neighbors upstairs were so damn noisy all week. They were slamming doors and stomping around. We told the front desk and nothing was done about it. The plumbing was horrible. The bathtub wouldn't drain properly so shower stayed flooded with dirty water until about 30 minutes after you shut the water off. The toilet would splash water everywhere when you flushed it. The parking garage is a joke. Too small to fit anything taller than a honda pilot. Only has one lane to get in and out so if a car comes in while you are trying to exit one of you will have to back up. Parking spaces in garage are too smal even a smart car will get door dinged. I am not happy with my stay at all. This place is a joke for the amount of money spent. I will never spend my money on this shit pot again.

Horrible lobby staff, I asked a question about the area and was told that the lobby desk was for Maintanance purposes only and was sent across the street to a concierge at the Hyatt Centric. Will never recommend this place, rude staff, especially the older man who was obviously irritated that I rang the bell three times to get assistance.
