Maria Bonita Lunchwagon

This is the REAL DEAL! I'm half Mexican and grew up on my abuelita's homemade cooking and this is the first torta (the carnitas is spot on!) that is fully at that level of deliciousness! The bread is soft but crisp on the outside, perfectly buttered and toasted on the flat top and all the ingredients inside combine perfectly. I stocked up and got three yesterday because they don't open until 5PM. Trust me, it reheats just right in a toaster oven. And at $9 it's an amazing value in Kailua not to mention all the islands! I haven't tried anything else (yet!) but I'm not hitting any other Mexican food trucks over this one.

This food truck is the best on the island run by Diego!!! The food truck is located by hardware Hawaii Kailua right next door at the auto shop permanently. By far the best Mexican food I have ever tasted we've been eating at Maria Bonita for over 15 years and my favorite is the chicken chimichanga it's huge and delicious and very authentic you can tell Diego puts a lot of love in his cooking. My husband loves his enchiladas but everything on the menu is awesome. The prices are reasonable and the portions large I've tried alot of places but no one can match the taste of Maria Bonita it's the only place I love to eat!

You know what's good? This place is good.Honestly in terms of food truck food, this is probably the best I've had since I've been in Hawaii so far (my bias is that I love Mexican food though). Like you could put this stuff on a plate and give it to someone and they'd think you just picked it up from an actual permanent location. Pretty much everything was done right. The shredded chicken tacos were flavorful, the refried beans had the right consistency, and the Mexican rice still had that familiar taste but maybe had a hint of sweetness to it due to the addition of some diced carrots, but I actually liked that.The portions are quite big too, so I definitely felt like I got my money's worth ($10) for two tacos full of stuffing, rice, and beans. This place has a la carte options, but those can be quite expensive. However overall, this place is still definitely a good choice for lunch combo.

Highly recommend they're quesadilla was to die for! And the guy was super friendly and could tell he enjoyed his job!

Best Mexican food! The chef is a passionate Mexican who loves people and guarantees to satisfy their hunger and taste buds. (Large portions) could be shared.

Great Food wonderful service I do find it funny his Mexican food place in town is number 29 on this list and the Lunch Wagon is #2 (it should be #1) All his food is made in town every day and taken out to Kailua...LOL I love his authentic Mexican food.... Like I had as a kid in Arizona...Diego is a great cook!!!

I didn't think I could find good Mexican food on the island but this place did not disappoint. I did wish the tortilla would of been more cooked but that's a personal preference I had a carne asada burrito and it was great. Remeber to take out cash, Cash only!

Its amazing. Hands down the best carne asada tacos I have ever had. Will never catch me eating tacos from anywhere else from now on
