Great service and portions! Strictly to-go setup with tables for dining outside -- but go somewhere more scenic to enjoy. Crazy sized rolls that's generous with proteins. Poke plate was generous, too. Location: when you reach top of entrance ramp and see "MINI MALL", turn left and you can't miss it. Plenty of parking.

What a hidden gem! If you love take out sushi and find youself in aiea before 2:30, stop by Makoto Sushi!! I have no idea why I was in the area, but I just kind of stumbled across Makoto because I parked in the shade and walked over to get shave ice. Sushi is my favorite food and obviously I'm going to try a place when I see it. So I walked into Makoto not really expecting that much, but wanting to try it out. I was blown away by all the different combinations of seafood loaded into the rolls. There were pictures on pictures on pictures of so many different rolls, it was honestly a little overwhelming, but in a good way. I was thinking about how many I should take home and share with the fam without going overboard. I liked the pics and very clear written explanation of what is inside each roll. There is another takeout sushi place that I will not name that frustratingly will not write out what is in the rolls so I have to ask every time I order. It's so frustrating because some of the rolls are named after people and give no hints as to what can be in it. So I got a Jin's roll. What is a Jin's roll you ask? Well it is a spicy ahi, ebi and crab roll with salmon sashimi on top. For $17 I was a little skeptical, but the rolls are HUGE! It's worth the $17 price tag imho. The rolls come with a little side salad. I think it's cute and I enjoy salad, but probably unnecessary. The fish was fresh and I was pleasantly surprised by the whole experience here. Definitely take your food home to enjoy because eating in a parking lot is probably not the aesthetic you're going for. You're bound to find something for everyone here at Makoto! I'm wondering when I will ever be in Aiea before 2:30pm again. That's the only thing.... I wish they were open a little later, then I could come after school.

Our last day on island after 7 years here and of course we had to come through. The owner was in Korea, but wanted to thank him with a review! Such a quality sushi place, for reasonable prices. You will always leave full and satisfied! Consider trying my favorite: the sunset on the beach roll *add 911 sauce* it's THE best. Thanks again for being my go to sushi spot for so long! Keep up the good work! So fresh. Ambience: can't be beat, in a parking garages ! Haha but you can always take to go for a beach picnic!

This review is like seven years in making!I love Makoto Sushi! I loved it when I lived and worked in Pearl Harbor when I was active duty. I loved it when I lived in Aiea. I still love it as a civilian working nearby. The sushi plates are still as huge as ever. Quality, but quick sushi. Sorry, I'm at a loss of words, but Makoto Sushi is amazing. Calling Makoto to order is always pleasant as the Korean uncle always sounds sweet. Don't let the seemingly confusing parking structure and that McDonald's drive thru stop you from grabbing sushi here!To locate Makoto Sushi, head to the second level of Aiea Shopping Center in Aiea Heights, the same parking level as McDonald's, Ice Garden, and Roast Duck Kitchen (another lunch I highly recommend!). If you turned too soon to the first level (Times Supermarket or Starbucks) or too late to the third level (Aiea Bowl, bb.q chicken, El Charro), you can always take the stairs or escalator. Makoto Sushi is a hole in the wall with no indoor seating and only a few tables outside, but you'll be promised a quality meal. Head to their website at makotosushiaiea.com and call in your order to minimize wait times!

I was able to call in on a Saturday afternoon and picked it up in about 15 minutes! You can already tell on the phone that the service is so polite and kind. The sushi was bomb af. We just split the Dragon Tears roll between the 2 of us and it was a pretty big portion. The sushi itself was sooooo tasty and paired perfectly with all the ginger and light salad. The dragon tears roll was filled with tons of imitation crab and the ahi on top was super fresh and tasty. This was such a treat. Highly recommend visiting this place!!

This was my first time at Makoto Sushi, so I had no idea what to get. The guy working the cash register was so friendly and patient with me. I ended up getting the gold fish roll, which comes with spicy ahi, crab, ebi, and topped with salmon, ahi, unagi and green onions. My roll was missing the spicy ahi and ebi, but I'm not even mad because everything else tasted so fresh!
